Bitcoin has crossed the 20-day moving average (MA) hurdle but remains in bearish territory below the long-term resistance of the 200-day MA.

Daily and weekly charts indicate scope for a drop to $7,750.

A UTC close above the 200-day MA at $8,718 is needed to weaken the bearish case.

🗞 Consolidating Bitcoin Price May Be Setting Up Ethereum for a 30% Surge

Bitcoin (BTC) dominance remains high at 66.3% and so does the amount of attention traders are dedicating to the largest digital asset’s price action.

Last week’s move from $7,800 to $8,850 will have further entranced investors, and the hope of breaking above $10,000 may have distracted some traders from noticing the awakening that has occurred with many altcoins.

🗞 Facebook-Led Libra Forms Governing Council After Big-Name Departures

GENEVA — Twenty-one organizations have signed the Libra Association charter, days after a slew of high-profile defections from the cryptocurrency project started by Facebook.

The Libra Association also named its board of directors and formalized the consortium’s executive team following a meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.

Facebook still remains a key player in the project with Calibra CEO and former Facebook blockchain lead David Marcus taking a seat on the five-person board. Other board members include Katie Haun, a general partner with Andreessen Horowitz; Wences Cesares, CEO of Xapo; Patrick Ellis, general counsel at PayU; and Matthew Davie, chief strategy officer of Kiva.

Bertrand Perez, Dante Disparte and Kurt Hemecker will take leadership roles in the association’s executive team. Hemecker, Perez and Marcus are all PayPal alums.

🗞 BMW, Renault, General Motors, Honda, Ford to Pilot Blockchain Project

Some of the world’s leading carmakers will begin a pilot for a blockchain-powered vehicle identification platform. The project might let the drivers of electric vehicles pay parking fees, maintenance fees, rest stop service fees and highway tolls charges faster and more effectively, without making use of cash, smartcards or credit/debit cards.

The pilot, which will begin in November in the United States, will see BMW, Renault, General Motors (GM), Honda and Ford utilize sensor- and card-free digital ID solutions via a blockchain platform. The platform will allow parties to check on data including vehicle ownership and service history.

Drivers will be able to use of a range of services without stopping to pay for anything – and would instead be charged for all accumulated expenditures when they plug their vehicles in to top up batteries.
