Coin Shop Pick-up: 1780 Austria Maria Theresa Thaler

Thought I'd do a quick post before bed to share these beauties that I picked up from the coin shop.

They are 1780 Austria Maria Theresa Thalers.

I will share more about these coins in a future post.

In summary:

  • the thaler has a diameter of around 40mm and is 2.5 mm thick,
  • they weigh 28.0668 grams,
  • asw of 23.386 grams or 0.752 troy ounces,
  • silver purity is .833, with .166 copper.

I was so excited to see them in the store and bought as many as the coin shop dealer was willing to sell me.

I love well made replica coins of historically Iconic money.
I think these are classified as RESTRIKES since they were minted to the same standards and specifications as the original Thaler hence the date is 1780X.
I have only one of these, but I would love a stack of these too.
