Tokyo 2020: Olympic torch relay finally begins in Japan

The torch relay for the coming Tokyo Olympics has gone under way today in Japan after been delayed for a year due the coronavirus pandemic that hit earth in 2020.

The ceremony where the torch was turned on was held in Fukushima with about 10,000 runners who will move throughout Japan before the Olympic cauldron will lighted in the opening ceremony of the Olympics game on 23rd of July.

The relay is scheduled to hold for about 121 days beginning from today all in the build for the Summer event.

Touch relay for this year experienced some difference as there where low turnout of people who lines the street due to virus restrictions also spectators were not allowed to this year ceremony launch.

Organisers of the event made it known last week that this year event will exclude International fans as they are not permitted to travel to the games.

Chief of the Tokyo 2020 Seiko Hashimoto has this to say at the launch of the ceremony:

"a ray of light at the end of the darkness".
"This little flame never lost hope and it waited for this day like a cherry blossom bud just about to bloom," she said, speaking at the launch
ceremony.

The pandemic really had a huge impact on the sports and entertainment industry.
