Results last week started to feel more 'normal' again and I do feel I was almost fully going back neglecting the situation with no fans, a busy schedule, corona cases,... while taking a closer look at the 3 matches today. I continue to keep my stakes on the low side though and most my betting action will likely be in-game. My thoughts and pre-game positions on the matches for today...
Sint-Truiden vs Waasland
Stvv played an ok match against OHL away taking a fair 2-2 draw. Overall they haven't performed all too well and are 16th in the standings just 2 points ahead of Waasland Beveren who just took their 2nd win of the season on Tuesday with 2-0 against Oostende after a streak of 8 losses and 2 draws. Their striker Joe Efford played a good match but will be out today with a muscle injury which certainly is a big blow. Waasland has missed multiple matches due to corona cases and which now all are played in a short period of time. They took a win with a good performance at the right time and in the past I've seen multiple times were teams in a similar situation having a hot streak in such a period. Waasland is also looking up while Stvv has to look down which often is an advantage and the numbers also show a positive indication for the away team. Despite their poor results, they are 4th in the away HT standings with 9 points (3W-2L) while Stvv in the HT home standings is near the bottom with only 1 win. Waasland during their bad streak often started quite strong with 1 or 2 mistakes being deadly and causing somewhat of a collapse. I expect them again to be focussed today with a lot more confidence and had to take a small-medium pre-game bet on
Waasland 1st Half +0.25 @ 1.961, I also took a small try on
Waasland +0.5 @ 2.224 which covers the draw as it is not a bad result for both teams in this match. So far, Waasland only failed to score in 1 match.
Cercle Brugge vs Racig Genk
Racing Genk has been on a really hot run as of late being unbeaten in the last 8 taking 6 wins which has put them near the top of the standings. The actual play has not been as good as the points suggest though and they seem to have both good and bad moments. Last week they were somewhat outplayed by Moeskroen in the first half but a fortunate 1-1 for them at the end of that 1st half set them up to play an excellent 2nd half winning that match deserved in the end with 4-1. Cercle showed good things at the start of the season but hasn't been able to really continue to good performances. Last week they did win 0-2 away against Waasland but it was kind of a hold-up. They followed that match by a 1-2 loss against Moeskroen so by no means they are in a good flow. They do tend to play quite offensive but crawl back once taking the lead. I do expect this match to be quite open with a good pace with Genk continuing to feed of their results also improving their actual performance. Cercle Brugge got at least 2 goals against in 4 of their last 5 matches while Genk scored at least 2 in their 5 last matches. All this made me go with a medium bet on
Racing Genk Team Total Over 1.5 @ 1.729. I'm also leaning toward the over or even 1H over as both have a quite even 1H/2H goal ratio but I will leave those for potential live bets.
Moeskroen vs Club Brugge
Moeskroen played an excellent 1st half against Genk which they didn't manage to continue in the 2nd but they followed that match up with their first win of the season. It will however be quite difficult for them to make this into a turnaround point as they will be playing against Club Brugge today who are 1st in the standings and are still the team everyone is looking at. In the mid-week CL match against Dortmund, they simply showed to be not good enough and they have an important match ahead next week also in the CL as they still are fighting to qualify. Overall they are down against the Asian handicap especially because they have been overrated at home. Away, however, they are 4W-1.5L-0.5P against the line. One of the patterns they are in which could also be seen last week is that they get the job done without conviction and I wouldn't be surprised to see something similar today. I will be looking out for exactly that. My main angle is still to back Club Brugge in case they fall behind or them for an outright win if the odds get to a point where they are acceptable. For now, I am keeping my discipline.
