Monochrome in Color

This is one of my favorite shots I took of the total eclipse, several years ago. I traveled from Washington, DC to the North Carolina/Tennessee border just so I could be at ground zero

As the Moon covers the Sun during a solar eclipse, the rugged topography of the lunar limb allows beads of sunlight to shine through in some places while not in others. ... The diamond ring effect is seen when only one bead is left, appearing as a shining "diamond" set in a bright ring around the lunar silhouette.

Sometimes you just need to do it.

Oh, the hands are busy, so as not to become a distraction.

I am always inspired by faith. I watched, as her hands ruminated over the rosary, letting slide each bead between her fingers, over and over and over again. It never sleeps, never ends, and is always growing with every instance in our life. May you be inspired by faith.

May you be blessed beyond measure and may you always be moved to share your blessings with others. I wish for grace to cover you in the life you are living.

And so, another #MonochromeMonday coming to a close as I slip this in, hoping the lateness is barely noticeable.

i’ve been praying,
and these are what my prayers look like;
dear god
i come from two countries
one is thirsty
the other is on fire
both need water.

later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered,
"where does it hurt?"
it answered,

"everywhere"
"everywhere"
"everywhere"

Thanks so much, Victor! @wwwiebe That is so kind of you! The total eclipse was down on the Tennessee/North Carolina border and even though I knew it would be crowded, I drove down to be there at ground zero when it happened. I am not sure I have ever experienced anything like that, ever.

It was moments, but, the birds stopped singing, the hot day got cold as the light disappeared into the darkness and it was like the world had ended. Eerie. But, oh, so cool.

This post is quite out of this world. Get it moon, sun, oh forget it lol. What on Earth do you mean lateness. I will have you know we have 2 hours yet, and I for one intend to use them LOL. I am still plodding away at mine. Trying hard to figure out how late is fashionably late.

Oh I love the hands photo. I just love photos of hands. Yes hands and wood, I love them and cannot get enough... Hey, dont judge lol.

Hehehe... Out of this world. Oh, yes! I got it. :)

I was late with #Caturday. Not with #MonchromeMonday. I can see you might get yours up tonight, maybe even before #TreeTuesday hits! Now, that is something to work toward. Fashionably late is gone, although, I guess if you posted it around 2 am or even 3 am, it could still be Fashionably late as the West Coast is still up and kicking.

I do love hands and wood also. Wood is so, ummm I cannot even explain the attraction, but, I can run my hands over it and feel the grain. I got into that Wood Store in Maine and I touch everything. I love it. I'm going back there again. Sooner than later! I would never judge. Okay, well, hardly ever.

Thank you. I actually had to buy a 400 mm lens to get that shot. I was so afraid what I had wouldn't come close.

Such a stunning image of the total eclipse Denise. Love those rays of light emanating from the blackness. And the 'always a flower' is so beautiful. I've been seeing these flowers lately but not sure what they are called. If it's the same flower? They hang their heads.

And the hands ~ Such a story in those hands. And your cat. I love how you bring so many different images together.

I just saw you mention that you are about to go away in a few days time and so I wanted to wish you a beautiful and safe holiday. And what a dream ~ To be internet free. Wow @dswigle, I'm not sure which picture I like most!!! The picture of the eclipse is unbelievable, I didn't know about the diamond ring concept although I know I've seen it before, love it. Wow! Heaven's very own ring that not even mankind's best diamond can't match in beauty. A fantastic shot Blondie!

It was a spooky full moon down here a few nights back. Seemed to have lit up the backyard more than normal. Quite a few “interesting” people seemed to be out and about as well.

Some years I try and catch some meteor showers going down. Love those more than solar eclipse.
