Anybody know of a good video editor?

If you have followed any of my recent posts, you know that I have decided to focus on creating and ramping up a Family History community on Hive. As a part of that effort, I am looking for certain tools that I can make available to the community in order to create different types of family stories.

The tool I spend a good part of the past two days trying to find in an video editor with the following benefits:

  • simple - this app will most likely be used by people with little to no video editing experience. I can provide step-by-step instructions, but the fewer the steps the easier the training (and learning curve) will be.
  • online - this would allow anyone, regardless of OS, to use the same app (which would make for easy training videos).
  • free/minimal cost - It is not a requirement that it be free, but I don't want the community to start incurring costs right out of the chute unless it is absolutely necessary.
  • no watermark - for me, this is a deal breaker. If I am creating family history videos that are going to last for generations, I don't want it to be covered up with a commercial.
  • multiple input files/timeline - if you think all video editing apps accept multiple audio, video, and/or photographic files, you would be wrong. I also want to be able to rearrange files within the editing process.

So...what video editing apps would you suggest?

Even though I beginning to spend a lot of time in the family history arena, that is not a good reason to entirely stop the affiliate side of my business. The main difference being the amount of time I have available to pursue these interests. With that change in mind, I felt that, rather than continue to create one large post each day containing all of the content I had been generating in the past, I would create each piece in a separate post and just create whatever I have time for.

That being said, here is the information regarding my search for Luke today:

Hi, I'm using an open source video editor. It needs to be downloaded but it's pretty easy to understand. You can insert several timelines. It works on linux, Windows and it can also be complied in Mac:

I'm a Linux user, but with very limited knowledge about video editing... For editing my videos, I use YouCut app on my Android phone... It works well for what I need...

I hope that others will have some better ideas that suit your needs...

Thanks, Zoltan. While I would prefer to have one app for all platforms, I would be open to using a different one for each OS. It would just be more work for me, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. I'll check out YouCut. Thank you for responding.

Well done completing the Scavanger Hunt Garrey, and I use YouCut to edit all my videos, it's a free Android app, very easy to use, and no watermark.

Thanks for the reply regarding the video editor. You are the second person that suggested YouCut. I'll definitely be taking a look at it. I appreciate your feedback.
