To All The Newbies Who Don't Feel Comfortable Enough to Post

avatar

Ahem, Ahem @rschaper I am looking at you

lion-565820_1920 (1).jpg

We want you here and we invited you because we want to hear from you

You of course are welcome to come in and read our posts and make comments, but you are welcome to post as well, and we actually WANT to hear from you.

Sometimes it is hard to get the confidence to write, and sometimes you don't know what to write about.

Start with what you know

You can introduce yourself

You can tell us all about how you found our community

You can tell us your first impressions

You can share with us how long you have been investing in crypto

You can tell us your first crypto purchase

You know a lot of stuff, really,

You know about where you live and what the economy is like there.

You know how much it the cost of living really is where you live

Has covid changed your finances? How

You can also tell us about the future

Do you have some financial plans that you are setting in motion.

Do you know what the best crypto to HODL is (LEO, we know, but tell us about it anyway)

You can tell us something embarrassing

For example, have you been scammed? Tell us a story about a scam. We all like to tell our wins, but sometimes, it is fun to hear about a silly something we got caught up in.

Have you learned something new since getting here?

Did you discover discord? Have you learned that @gerber never sleeps and answers all questions on every discord server.

Did you finally understand what an upvote is.

Do you know what RC's are?

Do you know why you should HODL at least 15 HIVEPOWER (maybe 50 instead)

Do you know the difference between HIVE, HIVEPOWER, HBD and LEO?

Tell us about it!

If you had those questions, someone else did too.

There are lots of newbies right behind you who now think you are an expert. Flaunt your expertise.

Remember that posts here don't really live more than 7 days

There was recently a rumor about how the LEO team is going to find a way to reward "evergreen" posts. But, from what I understand, we just are not there yet.

This means that in seven days, there will be more new people here, and you will notice via the comments that they are not comfortable posting. At that point, you can write your own encouraging post, asking them to share.

You will have different suggestions than me of course, because you want to hear other finance related things than I do.

I for example care how much moms around the world spend on diapers.

Will everyone on leofinance be interested? No. And everyone will not always be interested in your words. What is important is to put them out there anyway so that those that do want to read them, can.

Advice from the PRO

Use your own words. AKA don't plagiarize, that's just rude.

Be OK with using your own writing voice and style. There is only one you.

Type your posts on a different doc and copy and past. Yes. This is the SECOND time I write this post, because the interface glitched, and I didn't have a back up.

Keep going. Just like I am writing this, again, you can write your own post too.

Remember that a first grader can be a mentor to a kinder-gardener. You don't have to know everything to be valuable.

Don't be afraid to research. You don't have to write only what you know. You could learn something new and share it.

Read through the posts daily. Sometimes, there is a glaring need for content, and only one person to write it - YOU!

We really do want to hear from you! Post.

And feel free to share your post in the comment section.

PS. My system is glitchy. Here is a screenshot saying I reblogged this post, but I can't see it anywhere!

Nice call to action for Newbies like me @metzli. I always feel what if they don't read my post and all of my efforts will go to waste. But blogs like these remove that thought from my mind. Ultimately we all are here to have fun and share our bits of knowledge. For that, we need to interact with each other before seeing growth in our profiles. Create more, Engage more!

Yes. And your writing voice develops over time. As you gain followers you gain readers.

Keep going!

I have gained some in the past week just because I was reading and commenting more.

Great advice! I just onboarded someone to Hive and I have been working with them on encouraging them to post about whatever they way. I have pointed them towards some communities and that has helped a lot. They will find their niche eventually. Until then, they shouldn't be worried about posting. Just do it!

That’s why I love the communities. Whatever your niche is, there is probably a community behind it.

Thank you for on boarding new people. It helps us all.

I think a few people might arrive here from "regular" social media where newbies are often ignored and sometimes silenced and laughed at... and my experience with Hive/LeoFinance is that this tends to be a very friendly and welcoming community with many old-time users genuinely going out of their way to make eager/enthusiastic newcomers feel welcome.

=^..^=

Yes it‘s true that people are very friendly to newcomers here as well, however in my opinion for most newbies it is hard to get an audience and due to only few votes/comments on their articles many stop writing new ones as they do not feel motivated enough if they got the feeling that no one will read them

Just my thoughts 😄

That's some awesome motivation, only did a splinterlands season report till now but I might just do more than that. Thanks for your effort!

That‘s very motivational!
I‘ll probably write a post about my journe to CUB finance today or tommorow, although I‘m not completely new, would you mind sharing my article here as well? :)

You did make me wonder though, any chance you could elaborate on why you should hodl at least 15 HP? At the moment my keychain shows a negative total "available" balance when trying to delegate, so am definitely looking to increase my HP, but not sure what causes it as I got 42+ coming in from @steemmonsters and zero going out.. any idea?

I suggest you HODL at least 15 HP to make sure you have enough power to transact on the blockchain.

Good point, I do have a lot of HP delegated to me from steemmonsters (40ish) and I'm delegating the little bit I have to leo.voter at the moment. Definitely gonna work on increasing that, thanks for your reply!

You are very welcome.

If you play splinterlands and are a part of Leo, you may as well invest in the “mother” blockchain.

Glad you are here.

(Edited)

I believe it captures the sentiments of many (including me) who are very reluctant and guarded about voicing an opinion or viewpoint in a “crowded” space. To me at least this article is very encouraging.

We are far from crowded.

I love when the “new” feed is faster than I can keep up with.
