Is It Okay Publishing Already Published Articles on Medium?

Probably the writers have the highest number of platforms out there to share their thoughts. Probably — I'm not confident about this.

So, technically, you are writing pieces here and there — publishing them in different platforms to get the highest exposure to the readers around; and most importantly — to potential clients.

Yes, that's the truth. Writers write to get paid except for on social media like Facebook. But, sure, you can open up another income window leveraging Facebook and other social media by expanding your networks.

Talking about networks, LinkedIn is there to demonstrate what networking can do — especially for career growth. If you are not leveraging LinkedIn you should start it today. It's amazing — you'll see.

However, we, writers most often face a dilemma.

Should I post my past copies to a platform I just signed in? How will my newest writing platform (aka portfolio) react to my already published content? Will I get a penalty from search giants for using used contents?

Some of the most burning questions to mention.

Well, as a writer, you should have these questions. Some platforms take this issue very seriously. For instance, Quora will delete your post if plagiarized. Your account may get suspended for that.

Like Quora, Medium is also a giant platform uniting writers from different corners of the world. You can also refer to your Medium profile as an alternative to your personal writing website (portfolio). Most writing agencies consider having a Medium portfolio as a good sign concerning writers' professional corner.

Plus, you'll find tons of useful content there to brush up your writing skills. If you intend to get advice on your writing career and personal growth, Medium can be a good spot.

However, for writers, who wish to write on a daily basis, creating fresh copies can be a challenge— especially to them who write alongside their usual career. Composing good quality content can take a substantial amount of time.

So, let's say you have 5 major platforms to write on. Your target is to write around 1K words on each topic. That is 5 unique and fresh contents in a day for a daily basis publication. 5K words a day!

Not easy — I guess. At least I never tried. You could write a book within a week or two at this pace.

On top of that, you can be a legend of the writing of you have that habit. Talk of the town. Cool, huh?

However, do you know Medium has a sweet plan for guys like you who prefer writing on different platforms daily? Do you know you can use published pieces on Medium?

Well, that's true. But, there are some obligations. You must own that piece of writing — no stealing. I don't know what will happen if you use copied contents on Medium — but, you shouldn't be doing that, right?

Okay, so, how to use and publish already published contents on Medium?

• To use your published articles on Medium, you need to go to your profile section.
• There, from the drop-down menu, you'll see Stories. Click on it.
• From the options displayed, select Import Stories.
• You'll see a box where you'll be asked to put the link to the article you want to import and publish. Paste the link there.
• Then, click on see your stories. You'll see the imported articles in full.
• Edit if necessary. (Importing may change the style you published it elsewhere. So, change it accordingly)

There you go. Your brand new article on Medium is ready to reach readers and bring money to your pocket while saving you from the hassle of writing a new one.

Simpler than making a cup of tea. By the way, I can't make a good cup of tea — makes me more useless than ever. :(

Happy writing!
