The importance of relationships and socialization in business opportunities?

avatar

Hello everyone, I hope you have an excellent weekend and keep on taking care of yourself, it is necessary.

The question that I use as the title of this publication, arises from what has happened to me personally this year and that has radically changed my way of thinking, I have seen the need to think about new projects in the medium and long term but always keeping in mind that everything is subject to change, without a doubt, or do you still think that we can have control of everything? .

I'm a Venezuelan immigrant in particular, a doctor by profession, who left his professional papers in the hands of a manager so that he could take the necessary steps to allow me to practice my profession abroad, I was swindled and they didn't do what I needed, well, I lost a few important months, but then I got someone else who could really channel that process, and when everything was quite advanced the pandemic arrived, and it has kept everything at a standstill in that respect, so how to control that? it's simply impossible. And obviously, all these situations have led me to consider big changes and readjust the projects I had, but now based on this current reality that has nothing to do with what it was when I left my country of origin?

But, inside everything, I am grateful to life that has allowed me to measure myself in other areas that were unknown to me, and I have been able to take advantage of it in different ways, not only to have my sustenance but to be able to visualize other business options, and of course, I have established very good contacts because because of my current work I must relate to many people during the week, each one with their particularities and potentialities, this is when this networking becomes much more important.

I currently work for a hardware products distribution company, so my day to day is related to establishing relationships with business owners and making them customers of the company I work for, so they can buy our products and also do it for a long time, in my job the ability to relate and sell is vital, that simple.

But, this post is about the importance of the relationships you establish with other people and how you can create some business from it, well. Many of these clients I work with are also owners of micro businesses, or simply have contacts with other large distributors, this has allowed me to obtain benefits that go hand in hand with my main work. For example:

  • I visit almost 200 businesses weekly, and because I have been relating with them for a long time, there is a degree of trust. It allows me to offer them other products, which are not sold by the company I work for, and without a doubt I have taken advantage of this. Recently I established contact with a client that manufactures rollers, that are used to paint walls, doors, etc. He left me a good price for them, so I could if I wanted, and earn something extra while I do my work, that's what I did.

I made the first attempt of test, I offered it to a great business, and it went very well, a sale of 124 units, buy them in a place and take them away, it left me a profit of almost 9 dollars in a matter of 50 minutes I know that it is not a fortune, but I must limit that here (Colombia) people work 12 hours to earn that amount of money... So yes, it was a great deal. At least for starters, a good test, I think I could in this season of the end of the year, in which many paint their houses, take a great advantage of all this.

As well as this business, which I plan to continue, obviously, I have had the possibility to offer masks that a client produces, something that is easy to transport, in addition to some other items, assuming that they leave me a good price for resale.

But beyond this, my vision regarding business has opened up, and even awakened, something that I have visualized with my wife is the possibility of opening a pharmacy, it is something that we would both be familiar with, since we are both doctors, and I have a client that can facilitate the process because her sister is a lawyer in addition to having a relative with a pharmacy, which could make it easier to have access to providers.

Well, in view of the many complications that I have had in order to be able to practice my career in this new country, the best thing is to see the possibility of continuing to grow, the options are there, you just have to be willing, be careful to detect the possibilities and also not stop believing in yourself, that is important.

For now I say goodbye, hoping that your life is full of opportunities, and beyond that I wish, that you have the possibility to recognize and take advantage of them.

Hello friend @josevas217

You are very right when you say that we can't control everything, life puts certain tests on us that sometimes we don't understand but it's good to keep going.

Relationships are very important, thanks to them we can achieve great things, if we know how to take advantage of them, of course, I am happy for those small businesses that you have achieved, everything adds up and the idea is to reach another level of profit soon. Greetings!

Yes @franyeligonzalez
Little by little we can move forward, that's the important thing, not to wait. It's important to go out and use it.

The irony of the current situation in which we are living is that they try to keep us separated, without any physical contact, gathering of any kind, etc...

And the reality on the other side is that today is more than ever important to network with other people, engage with your fellow niche/business people and try to grow together and survive in these hard days...

Thanks for the great post!

The advantage of all this is that in crisis we must bring out the best in us.
And so when the easier times come, we will be able to evolve more and better, along with those who remained in the crises.
Thank you very much for your good comments and support @ph1102

This was a very interesting post and I can relate to the message somewhat. I have been through some struggles this year as well & was let go from a hotel job I was at for many years due to the pandemic as well as some health issues. The weird part is it ended up being a blessing because now I am able to pursue my online business full time & actually be in the joy of what I love to do.

As you said, building relationships & engaging is so important; not only for business but also to keep connected with other people. It is an important aspect of life even when other forces try to keep us divided. Some of us are taking that opportunity to be even more united than ever. :)

I wish you much success with your current career as well as your dreams of the pharmacy. I don't doubt you and your wife will make that happen. You have the passion and the vision! :)💚

Hello @pixiepost
Thank you very much for your nice wishes.
And although it sounds ironic, it's good that you've fired her, because it allowed her to rediscover other facets of her life, which she surely enjoys. These are not the words of someone who feels badly about her dismissal.

This pandemic has changed us in an impressive way, but if we keep our eyes open, we can continue to see options where others see problems.

I hope your health is much better now, and that you can continue to move forward. Thank you for taking the time to read me.

Great way to make things work for you, @josevas217! I don't network in person but I do quite a bit of it here on the blockchain and it has had some real benefits for me, the most important one being the opportunity to get to know people from pretty much everywhere. Building trust with people is important no matter what you're doing.

Establishing relationships through this blockchain can provide good benefits, meet many people, that even if it is not to see each other face to face, most of us here are in a different search than what most people are looking for, at least that's how I see it.

Hello, @josevas217! I have said this several times but the engagement and support I have experienced since being on the blockchain is far superior to what I get on the centralized platforms. It is open and accepting here whether you have opposing opinions or not. I like this playground way better. 😀 Enjoy your day!

Great post! Relationships are extremely important indeed. With good relationships, we will always have new doors of opportunity opening up to us!

What I admire is that you do not allow circumstances to get you down, but you keep your head up and keep on going, working towards a great future.

I wish and your wife all the best with your dreams of a pharmacy. I believe you can achieve it!

It is necessary to make an effort to remain hopeful, but, I do not conceive a life without goals, without vision to future, and mainly, without hopes, this way I could not evolve, although it is not easy, you can always advance.

Being from business family I know trust pays at very long turn. Most of business goes on credit and "trust" is necessary thing to get credit.

Hello friend @josevas217 I think you are very right, relationships are very important in life, they help us first to socialize and second to create new opportunities. Life is never what we expect, it always takes us by surprise, but relating to other people can give us a better quality of life.

Yes it is to be social and network in business and this can be done virtually as well as in person.

I agree with the approach, it is already more than proven that we can relate virtually in a very good way.
Thank you for your comment.

Relationship is very important...
As my first Boss says that atvthe initial days you sell the product but afterwards its all about your relationship.....

As it is, I like that, one first sells what one offers, but the relationship with the clients is important to be able to continue selling indefinitely.
