Is Steem-Engine a dead end?

Most of you probably have many steem-engine tokens and with the split of the chain, it might be an interesting question to know what will happen with these tokens. Steem-engine will continue to work, but what is the point if most content creators move to hive? This doesn't make much sense and the owners of Steem-engine are trying to tackle this problem which seems not so simple to solve.

What happens with tribes?

I see many tribes that, because of steem-engine are linked to steem and can't move to hive. There seems to be some tweaking with scotbot to go around this but still the market will be running with steem as basis currency.

Why not just airdrop tokens to hive

Hive-engine is actually already up and running but not much is happening there yet. At first sight it might sound interesting just to airdrop the existing tokens on hive-engine. From a legal point of view this causes problems as @retinox points it out:

Start a new tribe on hive?

There are many steem-engine tribes with their own tokens but it seems not possible to just move them to hive. On the contrary tribe owners are asked to pay again for putting up their token and tribe on hive. This seems not the good way to go. As @jongolson puts it:

Is there a solution?

I can't speak from a technical point of view because all this is too complicated for me but it would be nice if Token and Tribe owners could choose to move their token from steem-engine to hive-engine without costs. I can also understand that this whole situation is a big challenge for the owners of steem-engine but it would be nice if tribes and token holders wouldn't have to duplicate their investment to have their tribe/token on hive.

There will be a discord meeting on April 1st and hopefully a solution can be found that is satsifactory for all users.

Is there a solution?

A long term way is to do the SMT equivalent IMHO.

I agree with you but we don't know how far away these SMT are...

I support @ilnegro's idea that Engine supports an ENG/BEE pair for trading.

This seems like a good solution. I've read that aggroed will be willing to deduct a big part of the cost for building the communities a second time. This will certainly be welcome news. Thanks for your comment!

hi @happyvoter, @achim03

Finally some topic not related strictly to C-19 :P

Luckily I've got rid of all my SE tokens long time ago. Somehow I couldn't see any of them providing much value, which could reflect on price growth.

Definitely owners of Steem-engine will have very hard time ahead.

solid read, Upvoted already

Hi @crypto.piotr,
Thanks a lot for your comment. You are right a huge majority of the posts are either about covid-19 or about hive vs steem. This is a bit bothersome in the long term ;-)

Have a nice day!

Best regards,
Achim
