๐Ÿฆถ Several Footers I Created For Hive Tribes & Dapps ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ’ป Free For All Hivers To Use ๐ŸŽ How To Make GIFs In GIMP Too

thumb1gif.gif

Greetings Hivers, I just finished creating several 800x150px footers/banners, and I wanted to share them all with all of you awesome Hivers.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ง Operation New Family Footer Complete ๐Ÿ

ย  ย  ย During brief periods of free-time over the last several weeks I've been working on a new and updated animated GIF footer for the family (@Sreypov & @KidSisters) and I to use in all of our future posts.

ย  ย  ย With an increase in HP over the last year, we can now support several more tribes, curation projects, tokens, games, and Dapps on the Hive blockchain, so I wanted to give each and every one of these a little love at the bottom of our posts without consuming a massive amount of physical space within the post body.

ย  ย  ย The core of my Hive efforts are with the ASEAN Hive Community, NaturalMedicine.io, and ReggaeJAHM.com, but I do try and post content within Hive's various communities, even ones I don't yet have the ability to support with delegations.

The Finished Product? ๐Ÿค”

ย  ย  ย Just like life, Hive is an unending work-in-progress, and I would like to improve a few of the individual footers/banners in the near future, but time is the master and I was already rushed to get so many completed in a short time.

newfooter.gif

ย  ย  ย The whole purpose of creating this massive collection of footers/banners was to assemble them into one animated GIF file, and above is the finished file. I realize this GIF will be of much of less interest to you Hivers that only want individual files, so I've included each footer/banner separately.

GIFs in GIMP Are Easy ๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ

STEP 1

111.png
multiple layers shown in the bottom right-hand corner

ย  ย  ย If you are comfortable working with layers in GIMP and have a basic knowledge of the program, it is super easy to make a simple animated GIF file from several layers. If you have more than one layer you've already completed STEP 1.

STEP 2

22222222.png
the playback feature has some cool features like adjustable playback speed and zoom

ย  ย  ย If you want to see a preview of your handywork before you export a GIF, just click on Filters, select Animation and then click Playback. Your layers will be presented to you in slideshow style, and this will allow to you to determined how your GIF will look.

STEP 3

333333.png
several file types are available in the export menu

ย  ย  ย If you like your animation preview, you simply click on File and select Export As...*.

STEP 4

4444444.png
gif file type available within the submenu

ย  ย  ย Within the Export Image menu, go to Select File Type And choose gif, then Export.

STEP 5

55555.png
**

ย  ย  ย To reduce image flicker, I like to use Interlace, and I also deselect GIF comment. Make sure Loop forever is selected and choose how much of a time delay you want between frames. I chose 2 seconds (2,000 milliseconds). After that, click on Export and save your .gif file wherever you like.

๐Ÿฆถ Free Footers For All ๐ŸŽ

ย  ย  ย I realize many of you may be interested in the individual .png footer/banner images, so here they are presented individually. Each image is 800x150 pixels.

ย  ย  ย Please use these images and/or modify them in any way you like. There is no need to ask permission from me, I simply wanted to share these with all of you because I also know many tribes don't have any footer images at all, and I hate to put in all this work just to use these files for a personal GIF footer.

I wonder, how India is missing in the ASEAN hive community ?

ASEAN is an acronym used for Association of SouthEast Asian Nations, and technically India is South Asia, that is the only practical reason. I just wanted to make a special place for Southeast Asian content on Hive because I feel it's an underserved community.

I guess the westernmost Southeast Asian nation would be Myanmar, which does have some South Asian influence in the cuisine. Burmese dal and rotis are not as delicious as their South Asian counterparts though, unfortunately.

Do remember though, you don't need to be a Southeast Asian citizen or live in Southeast Asia to post in the ASEAN Hive Community though. Perhaps you know a good Thai restaurant in India, that would be a post that could easily fit into our community.

Thanks for stopping by @sanjeevm. !ENGAGE 10

Thanks, yes, more than few communities I support were without any footers at all. I'm definitely no expert graphic designer, but I can fumble my way through a few programs with some limited successes. !ENGAGE 10

Indeed. I mostly forget to use them. I shall put the footer down in one of my templates for Reggae Jahm content for instance, so I won't forget.
The template option really is a huge help hihi

Thank you for the kind words @zanoz. I have been wanting to make something like this for quite a while. My old footer was in much need of an update. !ENGAGE 10

Wow! Awesome banners, and many thanks for making it available for us to use.
Now, I feel it's about time I ask you and find out: How do I go about putting them in a post?
Copy image and paste it into the post works, but how I make it clickable?

Thanks @stortebeker.

I guess there are two ways you could go about that. One is you could open the image in a new tab, and simply use the link in the address bar to use/borrow the image.

I would advise against the first way as it's a bit clunky and inefficient. The best way is to simply right click and save the image on your computer. Once you've done that, here is how you could upload it into your post with a custom hyperlink of your choice.

STEP 1
Put a pair of brackets next to some parentheses. This will be your starting point.
[]()

STEP 2
Upload whatever image or type in whatever text you want to use inside the brackets.
[![JustinParkeIcon.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/justinparke/YRJMMBwL-Justin-Parke-Icon.png)]()

STEP 3
Put your destination URL in the parentheses. You're done! Click my handsome face to see the awesome place I've redirected you.

HERE IS THE FINISHED PRODUCT

Wow, awesome! This was just incredibly helpful. I'm quite excited actually. Thank you so much. Now I can make my posts more visually appealing. By the way, it's your kids' blog I admire a lot for having so many skillful features: colorful spacers and texts in two columns. Very well made.

Okay, so since writing my last comment, my mind has been bubbling with ideas. I really would like to learn these same editing tricks that the @KidSisters use in their blog. I could start doing my own search (which I could have done long ago), or I could hire Srey-Yuu to teach me, maybe writing a how-to post, or in a number of quick step-by-step instructions, like the ones you gave me on using the banners.

The things I would most like to learn are:

  • splitting the screen in two columns,
  • adding thumbnails of images, and / or adjusting the size of the pictures,
  • positioning images left, right, and center, while having the text go around it,

These are pretty much the most important things I can think of now, though I'm sure other questions are bound to come up on the way.

So my question to you is: Do you think Srey-Yuu could teach me these things? Do you think she'd be up for it? Would it be okay for me to hire her as a teacher? I was thinking to offer her 70 HIVE for her efforts. Do you think this would benefit all of us? If not, that's perfectly all right, but I think this could be fun and useful at the same time.

I think this is a good idea and a heck of motivator. So, she knows 85% of the markdown techniques I use in my posts, but that is more than enough to make a tutorial. I already mentioned this idea to her, and she's up for it. All I have to do is teach her the code to make markdown visible.

Today we are preoccupied getting her first tokenized digital artwork uploaded to the NFT Showroom but I will make sure this project is one of the posts she works on in the next couple of days. Thanks for your support of my whole family's Hive journey. !ENGAGE 100 !WINE

Of course. One of things I intended to do was make a totally new Terminal footer. I didn't have time but will be doing that in the near future. !ENGAGE 10

AWESOME! And also, thanks for the Gimp tutorial, which is really helpful. I'm still having a hard time finding some options, since I am more used to Photoshop.

No problem, it's all about the freeware. I still consider myself computer illiterate, but I clicked with GIMP much more than I did with Photoshop. Of course it's been a few years since I've taken a stab at Photoshop, but I always find myself cussing and wasting a lot of time. I don't need a lot of fancy features, so I feel GIMP is more efficient for me. There are also plugins and extensions for GIMP, and I have been experimenting with Animation plugins lately. !ENGAGE 15
