Toys on Hive - Vintage Avon Bubble Bath Toy Globe/Piggy Bank

avatar
This is a vintage toy from the early to mid 1960's. It was made by Avon and was a bath toy that came filled with bubble bath. I have vague recollections of playing with this as a child. It was a simple toy that had removable continents and looks to be designed to be a piggy bank after the bubble bath is gone.

Below are four of the 15 images I used to create the gif above.

A look at the Avon labeling.

A couple shots with the continents removed. You can also see where the coin slot was supposed to be cut. Of course there was no way I was ever going to cut up one of my toys so that never happened. :)

And just for a little nostalgia, in the last three photos, I put the continents back on the globe in new positions just like I did as a kid. Maybe this is how I was exposed to plate tectonics. :)

I found it very interesting because it is a toy that could be used both for the bath and for a safe. At that time people were so creative in creating objects and toys that satisfied everyone.

I know what this feeling of nostalgia is like and I thought it was really cool to edit it.

It is amazing how a small thing like this can trigger very old memories. And you can't post an image of a globe without in spinning so I knew I had to make a gif. :)

That's quite an odd product combination, Avon, bubble bath, toy and globe puzzle. Guess that's what makes it unique and possibly valuable. Great keep, and like your creative use of background for the images!!!

The background is actually a thin yoga mat. I was looking for something black but the yoga mat worked out well. I am thinking to maybe photoshop in a starry sky or maybe even a Hive logo of some sort and make it an NFT.

Very interesting little thing. Toys are actually amazing objects, especially when seen through history. Never saw a bath globe before. :) Very cool and surprising post.

Thank you! Not sure why I held on to it all these years. Probably some sentimental value or maybe I knew there would be a way to show it to the world some day. 😃
