Team @OCD has taken a BIG step towards nurturing and highlighting the different communities on Hive with it's Community Incubation Program and as part of that, we see that Toys on Hive community is being the community which is being highlighted this week by @OCD and I am happy to be part of this contest and travel back to my early days and the games we use to play using different toys which didn't cost us much money.
Well, I wasn't fortunate or should I say that my parents weren't that wealthy to buy toys for me or for my siblings when I was a kid and that, being a boy grown up in village, the village games such as Gilli Danda, Kho Kho, Kabaddi and all which are all the games not that much being played in this era of Football, Cricket, Tennis and all.

Gilli Danda:

The Google definition for Gilli Danda game says...

"The game is played with two sticks: a large one called a danda, which is used to hit a smaller one, the gilli. Gilli Danda is an ancient sport of India, possibly with origins over 2500 years ago. It is believed to be the origin of Western games such as cricket, baseball and softball."

Danda (a Hindi language word used in India) literally means stick in English and as it's mentioned, there will be 2 different sized sticks used to play the game and I myself wasn't aware that, Gilli Danda is the origin for many modern games like Cricket and baseball!!!

Goli Gundu(The Marbles) Game:

Goli Gundu or the Marbles Game is the other one we use to play dominantly during my childhood days and this game like the other one mentioned above, is still being played in villages but not seen much in cities.
Goli Gundu explanation goes as below as provided on google search..
"The objective of the game is to throw the Goli into the hole. Each player contributes two Gollies.
The first player throws them together aiming at the hole using one hand. In those two Gollies one may fall in the hole and other outside the hole or both outside the hole.
Then the co players choose a Goli, and then the first player is asked to hit the selected Goli with another Goli that belongs to him.
If he succeeds, he wins all the Gollies in the hole. If not, he gets the one with which he hit. The next player takes his turn with the remaining Gollies.
If all the players Goli does not go into the hole at the first try then second starts, in this the players have to strike out of the way the Goli thrown by the other boys.
Or, with a gentle blow from one’s Goli, push the other Goli, so into the hole. The player who ends with the largest number of marbles is the winner."
So, that's how we use to enjoy playing games with minimal or no cost at all as the items mentioned in above 2 village games will cost very negligible amount.

I was also a big fan of Brick Game, the video game version using a toy as shown in below picture. It was my first toy after I moved out of village to pursue my high school and college studies in a city place.

And now...

Coming back to the original topic as mentioned by @OCD i.e. If money is not an issue, what types of toys would you buy?

I have been a big fan of cars and I use my Honda City car more than I use my bike and **If money is not an issue, I would like to buy an Hummer Car as that has been my dream since our famous cricketer and former India captain M.S.Dhoni brought one some years back and would like to drive it :)

Might want to clean up that footer, most of those projects don't even exist anymore or are on the wrong chain.

Hello, my friend @coolguy123
Your story about personal experience about playing games as a child allowed me to travel back to my memories. I understand that Danda Cricket was the basis for creating baseball because my country is the sport played.
You also make mention of the game Goli Gundu in my culture it is called Picha or Metra and I played quite a bit it was strong.
Now with the purchase of the toy if the problem is not money, I accompany you in the acquisition and you invite me to ride in that toy, in there you would be a giant and at the same time a toy doll 😜.
Good luck and hugs

Thank you for stopping by my blog and writing those encouraging words @amandaj :)
Wow, nice to know that the games I used to play here are also being used in other countries like yours.
It was a great encouragement by team OCD to uplift other communities and also inspire bloggers to write regularly thru these weekly contests.
Wishing you the best and have a wonderful day ahead :)
