Alright, we are seeing reviews of Lamborghini, Ferrari, Mitsubishi, Toyota and other top brands from around the World as part of this @ocd's Community Incubation Program with this week's community being Planet Auto, a passionate community looking after the reviews, games and own experiences of Cars around the World.
Having said that, I thought of doing a review of a car which is an EV version from one of our country's own motor manufacturers Tata Motors.
When we say EV vehicles, the First and Best picture which comes to our minds is a Tesla Car whether it's S or X or Y or even the recent Model 3.
With his recent visit to India, Elon Musk made a bold move of introducing Tesla cars to India with importing the same other countries where they are being manufactured with main aim of introducing Model 3 to Indian roads and it is estimated that, the cost will be around INR 60 Lakhs which will be around US$ 81K.
That will be a huge amount compared to what the same car costs in US as it will be an imported one.
But, we are fortunate that we have our own country's car manufacturer coming up with it's own EV version of one of the safest cars for Indian roads i.e. Tata Nexon with an EV version.
Let's see the details of this car before we go on with a comparison with Tesla Model 3.

Tata Motors is known for it's economy cars for Indian roads starting with INR 1 Lakh(base price) car of Tata Nano and it has now wide range of cars such as Indica, Nexon, Harrier, Tiago, Safari, Tigor and so on.
The reason I like the Tata Nexon EV version is, it is an Electric vehicle which will be the future as we read on with fuels such as Petrol and Diesel are expected to be less abundance in the future and it is also the pride of India since it's fully manufactured in India.

Theme: What is your dream car and how much does it cost to acquire that car in your country?

I hope by now, you know what dream car I am talking about, yes, it's Tata Nexon EV version and it costs about INR 14 Lakhs(approximately US$ 19K) for base model and costs about INR 16.4 Lakhs(approximately US$ 22K) which will be less than half of what the Indian model of Tesla with model 3 is expected to cost when it's released in India.

Key Specifications of Tata Nexon EV:

    Comparison with Tesla Model 3:

Tesla 3 comes at a price around INR 60 Lakhs as against a top end Tata Nexon EV around INR 16.5 Lakhs.
Tesla 3 score higher in terms of safety it seems as it has a 5 star rating for adults and child safety while Tata Nexon EV gets a rating of 5 for adults and 3 for children safety.
Average mileage for Tesla Model 3 is claimed to be 423 KM as against 240 for Tata Nexon EV.
Tesla's top speed is a whooping 162 mph while Tata Nexon EV's is 122 kmph.
Tesla's charging time is 5 hours 45 minutes while Tata Nexon EV takes around 8 hour for full charging although it takes 60 minutes for 0 to 80% charge.

Clearly Tesla is better performance and mileage wise but that comes with almost 4 times the cost of a Tata Nexon EV and hence, the performance of Tata Nexon EV seems to be fair enough for the cost it has.

  • That is a short review of the car I feel like having soon and it seems to be a better choice for traveling within city limits or even for shorter distance out station trips because of it's charging capacities, but I feel it's worth for the money we have to pay to buy one.

I would like to thank @ocd and team of Planet Auto community for this community incubation program and the contest to write a blog.

The Tata Nexon isn't familiar to us however it seems to be remarkably good vlaue similar to the MG EV's in the UK, rapid charge is always a plus and it has decent range too, the closest vehicle to this in the UK is the MG ZS EV.

Thank you for this @coolguy123 - we hope to more of your posts in the future and you driving this too.

I think right now, it's available only in India, but I have read previously that Tata cars are also sold in Asian countries of Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh along with some African countries like Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Congo and others.

Thanks for the contest and all the support. I will be writing more and more on this community as and when I get an opportunity.

Thanks again and wishing a good day to you all Planet Auto team and the bloggers on this community :)
