Maybe things could be simpler

A few days ago, I was eavesdropping on a conversation going on in a taxi between a man and a girl he referred to someone else for hire. This is a normal occurrence in these parts.

From what I gathered, the girl is young. She was employed to work as a salesperson for a lady and had been away from work for nearly 3 weeks. Yet she called demanding her monthly pay.

The person who hired her paid her what she was rightfully due for the month however, she asked her to show up for a chat and the girl was scared. That's why she called the man in the taxi with me.

I listened sort of passively and sort of intensively. People can be extremely loud in such places, it's almost illegal to nit eavesdrop.

Well, the man told her to be ready for whatever she would get. He told her to be ready for a sack if it came to that and ended the conversation. It intrigued me.

Recently, I found myself in a similar situation where a person I delegated a job to kept complaining about the nature of the job I was giving.

This person is not experienced however I pay them for their jobs and still almost rewrite the entire thing just because. It gets frustrating. I understood the man's frustration.

The statement "what we lack is employability" was mocked by a lot of my friends right after graduation. They felt it was just a statement made by people to avoid giving out jobs.

Based on what I've experienced and observed a lot of people experience, I can attest to the lack of employable persons available In the labour market. It's real.

The problem, I think, is people's refusal to focus on talent and improvement. I've written about this one time. My mom's little speech for me has proven very relevant in my recent growth.

Growth and improvement are underpaid resources. You will most probably lose a lot of money and be paid a lot less than you deserve along the way. However, the reward for expertise is incredible.

I hope people learn and people learn fast. There's so much to be done and not enough people available to do it.

Hmmn true talk. People want to be experts and they want it now, that’s not how life is. Expertise takes years to build., are we then to say most people are impatient ?

If one doesn't want to do their best, why would an employer ever want to promote them to something better? It just makes sense to keep striving!
