How and Why To Stake Your Travala (AVA) Coins!
Since I first bought and started blogging about ava a few weeks ago, many have asked me if it's worth to stake their coins and if yes, how to do so. Let's start with the how!
First, you are gonna need to make an account over https://www.travala.com/
Then hit the sign up button on the upper right corner!
As you can see, you can either make a fresh account or use any of the log in options. Personally, I am using my google account to log in.
And just like that, your Travala account is ready. Before anything else, I'd suggest you to enable 2FA for extra security. This ads an extra layer of protection on your account and minimises BY A LOT the chances of your funds getting stolen!
Just go to "My Account" -> "Security"
Ok, now your account is ready and safe! Now, let's stake some coins!
Go to "my account" -> "my wallet" -> "Deposit" to view your onsite wallet address:
Now, there are 5 levels available for staking on Travala, or as they call it, the SMART program. The higher your level, the more coins and other benefits you get:
As you can see the APY is 24 %. Half of it comes in the form of AVA coins and the other half in travel credits (USD).
After you buy enough coins for a smart level on an exchange, just send them to your wallet address on the site. Make sure to not fuck up the memo AND the address :P
Then go to "My Account" -> "My Smart", scroll down a bit, choose the smart level of your liking and press activate. I have gone for the smart 5 :)
And that's it! If you did everything right, in the beginning of each month you will get an email like that:
Nice!
Can I lock more than 5k coins?
The answer is no! I guess you can bypass that by asking family/friends to make accounts for you but imo this practise is shady and highly discouraged by TRAVALA!
Should I stake my AVA coins?
For me AVA is a long term hodl. Plus, I plan to use their service in the future when the Corona shit is over and their smart program gives some awesome discounts and free coins and free travel credit. So, the answer is easy. If you just want to do a quick trade or swing coins or whatever then I guess the answer is no cause it takes 30 days to unstake. So I guess it's a matter of personal taste. I know I am happy with my juice and guaranteed apr. But I also know I have some extra liquid in the sidelines if a wild pump appears ;)
FYI, if you unstake you must wait another 30 days to stake again.
Are there any other places to stake AVA?
Officially no! But I have heard you can provide liquidity on thorchain for some extra rewards but I haven't looked much into that so I can't provide much info :/
However, the team has promised that extra staking options are coming in the future for minting NFTS and getting TRVL (dtravel) tokens. Fingers crossed, these options will come soon!
And that's it! I'll try to keep this article update with new staking options if they ever arise so make sure to bookmark it! Feel free to comment if you have any questions! I would be happy to answer them

Well I tried to use it to book a hotel room for the weekend and found out it is not yet available here .
Still seems like a great long term investment.

Do you think is possible to travel "for free" with enough staked AVA?

STEAK!!!!
This is an awesome guide. I will definitely be coming back to it if I pick up some Travala. I have been waiting for the gas fees to drop a little so I can look at doing a swap. Right now it has just been too expensive for the small amount of funds I have to invest.

This could be a very good opportunity with things about to start opening back up. In a year from now these coins and this site could be doing very well!

If anyone is looking for use cases for the AVA token that linked official blog is a good one.
Put simply, this:
So it's basically a travel rewards program on steroids?
The scarcity of reward points (the AVA tokens) make them more valuable and therefore keeps people booking travel through the Travala site to get them?
Which is where the company actually makes its money?

ill let @empodedrat cover this, @empoderat , he needs to do his shilling part too!

@forexbrokr
That's exactly what it is.
Imagine Booking.
Then imagine Booking with a better tech which is able to offer prices up to 40% cheaper vs Booking.
Booking can't try to compete because then they're fucking their shareholders in the ass (We could say that Booking/Expedia have a monopoly in that sense).
For that sole reason, Booking and Expedia embraced Travala (they prefer to 'integrate' Travala, not destroying it).
Some sources:
(Expedia partnership) https://blog.travala.com/expedia-and-travala-com-join-forces-to-offer-frictionless-cryptocurrency-travel-booking/
(Booking partnership) https://blog.travala.com/travala-com-booking-com-strategic-partnership-targets-massive-crypto-adoption/
Travala gets on average a 10% cut acting as middlemen vs the 30-40% cut which Booking is used to. Travala is a real business giving real service. The AVA token is a great way to 'share' a piece of the pie with their customers.
I also have a sense that Airbnb is coming. Not confirmed yet but I know they had some talks not far ago.
Yep, because the revenue of the business is directly linked with the scarcity of the token. Every booking purchased through Travala is a 2-5% ''stealth purchase'' of AVA. That AVA is given to the user after their stay.
Last month we had 1,1$ million in revenue, that means 22.000$ in AVA being shared between their users.
Booking processed around 750M in revenue/month on average in 2020. What if Travala manages to get 1% of that revenue?
7,5M in revenue equals to a minimum of 150.000$ being shared monthly in AVA givebacks, which at current prices 1$/AVA equals to 150K AVA monthly, which also equals to 'buying' 0,32% of the circulating supply EVERY MONTH.
What happens when Covid is over? What happens once more and more people keep locking their AVA's in the smart program (+10M or 25% of the supply staked), what happens with the diehard holders like me who own several Smart5 memberships? The real supply of AVA is very low...
AVA at 5-10$ isn't far, it's almost guaranteed in my eyes.
Enough shilling @trumpman ? Have a good day both.
More shilling:

Excellent explainer.
Thank you for taking the time! :)

You're welcome :)
Damn! You're staking well! Traveling after covid?

how much ava equal 1 USD
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Man, you are the bomb when it comes to coins. You know every coins and you are making real good cash with them.
I hope to try this out to see how it goes.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
yea, this might be a good buy, and with a 36 million Mcap and #258 they have a lot of runway
now that the vaccines are being rolled out I guess travel will pick up slowly as well so they should do well
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
TRUMPMAN!!!
TRUMPMAN!!!
show me more coins !!!!!!! MOAR!!!!
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Not a bad place to get in if I look at the chart, and there is a good chance a utility token like this shoots up when the travel situation is normal again. So no doubt it's a long term hodl.
Do you think staking will be as beneficial for someone who won't be able to make much use of the service itself geographically? Because that would essentially mean an APR of 12%, just the half that's in AVA.
