NFTs have a big problem

Preserving artworks and objects might get more difficult with the rise of NFTs and AI, argues Wired.

NFTs are taking the art world by storm, hailed as the digital answer to collectibles.

Creating an NFT for a one-of-a-kind digital work of art is definitely cool. Like a lot of others, I'm fascinated by the new boom. The narrative that all of the power swings away from big tech platforms over to creators is partially true, in my opinion--clearly there are also new "ebay" style platforms emerging which (for the moment) are giving artists a better deal.

But does anyone else feel like there's a much bigger story here to "NFT enable" lots of things from everyday life that's currently not getting any attention? A pint of donated plasma (bar code), a car (VIN), a home (title), etc. etc.

NFT's and a new form of art and artist is for the Creator Economy.

NFTs and AI are cool stuff, but they could also severely hamper free, equal and unadulterated access to culture and even history.

Perhaps using an alternative blockchain to mint NFTs that doesn't use PoW could already decrease the energy usage.
