Crypto Rant - UK Press Outlets Sow the Seeds of Confusion

Don't Believe The FUD Title.jpg

Here in the UK the media is pretty divisive when it comes to crypto miss-information and outright FUD. Every day Google's algorithms pump articles at me from establishment newspapers like The Times based on my crypto-heavy browsing history. Often the articles swing wildly in their analysis from one day to the next, claiming Bitcoin is a bubble one day, only to follow the next with news that Bitcoin marches on to mainstream adoption.

FUD-ing it up like a bunch of trading gangsters. It is almost like they don't want you to win!

I guess it is my own fault for surfing the web in bed on my phone and failing to install brave on my mobile. Chrome has gone and got me! Trying to flip my lid and convince me to exit the Ponzi NOW!!!! 😂

Even worse I find myself faced with 'so called' articles like this one from Investorschronicle... seriously, don't even bother clicking the link, you can see all the relevant content in the picture below. It is literally just the headline, a picture and a bunch of dodgy ads.

Screenshot 171.png

So what does all this Google generated FUD mean?

In my opinion it is a sign that the establishment banking groups are running scared. They are trying to control the narrative, and that narrative is clearly one of confusion.

If you think that the likes of The Times newspaper doesn't have the establishment's interests at heart, I'm sorry to tell you that you're living in cloud cuckoo land. Just follow the bread crumbs to see who owns it.

Yes, you've guessed it... News Corp founded by Rupert Murdoch.

The last thing establishment banking wants is for Bitcoin to become fully adopted before enough legacy financial institutions have accumulated. By fully adopted I mean by the likes of your family and dare I say it... your Gran.

"Hey Gran where is my chocolate advent calendar this year?"

"Forget about it Grandson... here have some Bitcoin instead."

If everyone started using decentralized cryptocurrencies, with bitcoin as their own sovereign store of value, banks would become obsolete.

In this scenario the billionaire institutions and individuals who hadn't joined the cryptocurrency movement early, would see their fiat wealth disappear before their eyes.

This is why all the FUD 👆

It is all about power. What decentralization and blockchain can do is disrupt the mechanisms of power. But only if it is widely distributed. If the vast majority of cryptocurrency ends up in the hands of institutional banks, custodial investment services and billionaires, the same old system will emerge. With central bank issuing plastic-blockchain digital currencies that can be printed whenever they feel the need.

I don't believe that institutions necessarily want to destroy bitcoin, but they do want to try and limit its distribution. The only way to do this is to keep the general population scared of the Crypto Bogeyman, while accumulating as much Bitcoin as possible.

These are my thoughts on why we see so much FUD news coming out right now. Despite my anarchist leanings, I'm completely aware that the world we live in dictates that all financial systems will dance to the tune of a competitive market dynamic. You work with the tools you get in this life and make the best of things without hurting anyone in the process.

But at the same time, I think it is important to understand that many of the uber-rich come from an ethos that is fundamentally sociopathic. Believing that that they can only secure their place in the hierarchy by keeping others down. This is the way it has been for thousands of years, and it is this modality of thought that has lead to humankind's competitive consumption of resources that is now destroying our planet. Cryptocurrency and decentralized blockchain tech can be a way to disrupt/evolve systems of hierarchy, hopefully for the betterment of mankind as a whole.

On a purely personal level, what all this means is that I will never blindly believe a narrative peddled by a newspaper owned by a billionaire like Rupert Murdock, any more than I would believe what Bob down the pub tells me about chemtrails.

I would rather research, explore and learn what will come of decentralization for myself by being actively involved.

I'm going to FUD off now, have a well earned pint and go buy some more Bitcoin 🤑

Thanks for reading my crypto rant.

The mainstream media is good for one thing only - analysing how narrow the content is!

Thankfully when it comes to crypto we're way beyond the mainstream in terms of educating people - so many alt outlets and WOM - I know several people around here who have bought in or who are very interested.

Mind you, they are pretty radical bunch having said that.

I agree, the mainstream media nearly always comes from a politically motivated position. For me, the only use I have for the papers is to gauge what Joe Blogs thinks about a certain subject. And I mean that across the board. Like the guardian will give you the average middle class middle of the road liberal viewpoint, the telegraph or the times usually the average middle class right wing view point. Mirror = left working class etc. Sometimes there is some crossover dependent on the journalist writing an article... must maintain the illusion of impartiality.

Oh yeah, I forget to mention The Sun... good for when you run out of Loo roles 😂

I agree that the crypto community here are good at educating people with an honest eye, but there are a lot of shifty asshats out there in the wider crypto space. There is always a scam (just look at XRweb), but the reality is that if you educate yourself and make calculated risks then gains far outweigh losses.

From a fundamental perspective, I just hope that enough mainstream people buy bitcoin before the institutions snap up the majority. The disruptive nature of bitcoin is watered down as the supply becomes concentrated in less wallets.

Lol, I also want to get rich this time around 😂

P.s. thanks for the tipu curation

Summed it up right here! I like to do my own research, try things out and find out if I want to be a part of it and have to say, it's been a revelation! I like to see how the mainstream media reports it from time to time but only if I've seen all the comedy shows on TV. I get the informed crypto articles from crypto news outlets like I was telling you about previously and allows you to form a balanced opinion from there.

Lolled at the crypto granny haha

Oh yeah, I meant to say, I downloaded that crypto news app you mentioned. It is great. cheers for that :)

P.s. CryptoGran is the shiz yo. Hittin up all the local kids with some doge-y coin and a handful of werther's originals ;-)

I am used to this sort of thing coming out of the US, but I have noticed a lot from the UK lately. Starting with the one person saying only invest in BTC if you want to lose all of your money. It almost seems like an all out attack.

Yeah, since Brexit the UK just seems to have become even more closed minded. I guess the current government are also following the US government stance on many things because they see America as even more important an ally since cutting ties with Europe.

I have my own political views etc, but I don't really let them rule me like I see so many on traditional soc media. I think this is another benefit of being involved with crypto, you kind of stay a little outside those competing mainstream narratives conservative vs liberal etc.

I can't be bothered with allowing it in anymore. I think that a huge amount of control is kept over the majority by them identifying emotionally so much with their ideals.

Lol, these days I just want to get on with improving my situation, and my families, for the better :)

Yeah, that's true. It is a campaign of fear, doubt and uncertainty for sure. I just don't understand how people can be so easily manipulated. It only takes a five minute look at bitcoins historical chart to see exactly what it does as an asset. Big rise of many 100's if not 1000's of %, followed by 70-80% correction over a few years, then halvening and rinse and repeat. Cycles of massive wealth creation is what we've seen so far.

Yes, crypto is good for allowing us to have a 1000 foot view of everything that is going on. I feel like it is one of those cases where people just need to scrap it all and follow the golden rule. Do unto others as you would have done unto you. From there, things would probably be much easier. Hopefully with the US loosening up a little on their stance that will cause things to ease a bit over there as well.

Yeah that was the Governor of the Bank of England who said that! Now the Telegraph have published an article saying banks are looking at ways on how to incorporate BTC in their product offering! Hilarious!

Lol you probably need to use brave browser to save you from these fake news and propaganda.

On hive we own our platform and create our own narratives. This is the beautiful thing about this space.

Crypto has the potential of disrupting a lot of things and the powers the be won't allow this or give in easily. It is expected. However, we the people can turn things around if we have the will power.

Absolutely mate. And that has been seen in action in Nigeria, venezuela and other places for sure. It has been one of the most awesome things to watch over the last 4 years I've been messing with crypto to see how it has improved peoples lives monetarily by disrupting traditional financial structures.

The UK is just a dinosaur, with many titled people still with hereditary wealth gained from the suffering and pain of British empire times. I really do hope that those people see their fiat wealth disintegrate with a movement toward crypto.

Ha ha, yeah I'm downloading it now ;-)

Yeah, they're a bag of shite for sure.

The thing that pisses me off is that no matter how many times I tell google to hide those articles from my front page, the same style of article from the same news outlets keep coming back. Like every day.

It is almost like the google algorithm has been programmed to troll me with weak ass crypto FUD ;-)

Hmnnnn... maybe I need to get out that tin foil hat for a bit.

Most of my Google crap are articles about the Nigerian central bank crypto ban. It's all FUD at my end.

Doesn't surprise me. I'm convinced that google's algos are now following a very narrow agenda based on whatever report/info they get from national governmental security agencies. In the case of Nigeria, recent history shows how much the government want crypto gone there.

Lol, but it could just be an automatic feature of google these days. Whatever your main browsing history is about, try and scare you about that subject 😅

Scaring the shit out of people drives traffic and shit though 😆.

My dad always has a bunch of weird conspiracy theories from bloggers spreading some socio-political FUD within Nigeria.

My dad will quote some shit he saw on "the internet". I say "daddy, it's just a fat person like me in front of their computer screen, don't take it too serious" but he never takes me serious.

Shit works on old people I tell you
