Diwali: A day dedicated to worship for Goddess of Wealth

Why Diwali?
Diwali is celebrated when Lord Rama returned to their home kingdom after completing 14 years in exile and meanwhile in exile he defeated a mighty demon "Raavana" . I will not go too much in story details but what is interesting about this festival that "Goddess Lakshmi" (Goddess of Wealth) is worshipped instead of Lord Rama.

Preparation for Diwali
Preparation of festival starts many days before it because it is supposed that everyone should clean the house thoroughly and get rid of all the junk and garbage from the house. Whitewashing/painting the house is also in proper culture. Actually here is the first teaching of Diwali that "Cleanliness is necessary for Goddess Lakshmi" or in other words it means , wealth only resides at places which are clean, free from negative energy and inspire positive vibes.
Any ways clean house will help in healthy living too and in other words "Health is Wealth".

Diwali Worshipping
On Diwali day ,"Goddess Lakshmi" (Goddess of Wealth) is worshipped and main attribute by "Goddess Lakshmi" is described is as "Lakshmi is chalayaman" that translates to "Wealth is transient in nature". It means whatever wealth you have created today is not guaranteed to be remain tomorrow.

Deeper meaning of Wealth is transient
In deeper sense it means that there is no need to be happy on yours fortune because you can lose it any time . Bad karma are supposed to accelerate the process. On same way, there is no need of despair if you do not have wealth because wealth can be earned by "Efforts".

So, do your best for doing good deeds and strive for gaining knowledge and do not pressurize yourself to get more of materialistic things.
