Hard Fork 25: Get The Creative Juices Going

The hard fork of Hive is now complete. As I write these words, it went off about 8 hours ago. Fortunately, it was incident free which is a testament to the developers who worked on the code and all those who assisted with the testnet.

Now that the features are on the chain, we are now looking at them being added to different front ends. This could take a while for some of the features to be updated. One new change that is already live is the saving of HBD to earn the 7%. On Peakd, this is live and properly marked. There is no more interest paid on HBD outside the savings account.

We will likely see a lot of creativity generated over the next 6 months. There are many entrepreneurs and innovators who will figure out amazing use cases for all that was added. One feature that holds incredible potential is the recurring payment feature. This allows for subscription based operation whereby one can establish an ongoing payment system. Much like one signs up for a subscription using a credit card which is billed each month, one can do the same with HIVE (or HBD I presume) and have that sent monthly (and maybe at other intervals).

One person who is already salivating over this is @silverstackeruk. According the latest @spinvest article, there are already ideas brewing in that mind of his which will utilize this feature. Basically we are looking at gamification and automating investing and other opportunities through even more tokenization.

Im not going to go into numbers and stuff but think 10 users sending 10 HIVE per week. What if you were collecting 1 HIVE from 50 users are 50 HIVE from 4 users? What if you were collecting all 3? every week. That would be a well-funded saving investment project and a pain-free saving to the end-user 😎. Gamifed tokens? I've said to much...

Aside from using "are" when he meant "or", this is very interesting stuff. We know that through some of the other SPI projects, like EDS, the inflation on Hive is leveraged to create basically an income token that pays out on a weekly basis. Now this can be couple with recurring payments to, perhaps, follow a similar path.

This is just an example of one individual who saw this feature and started to mentally apply it to what he already was formulating. How many other people will end up in the same place? Think of the different entrepreneurs in the CTP group who also can put this feature to use. In short, the possibilities are going to really expand as more people start to play around with it.

Here is how we can see things grow. According to the article, there could be another 4 or 5 tokens rolling out of @spinvest because of this feature. Hence we see how a new option and one person can really add to the ecosystem.

What happens when 25 or 50 people do something similar? Of course, since the Internet is a copycat world, if the idea works, others will surely follow.

Ultimately this adds to the wealth that is generated on Hive. We all see how our bags fill up over time. The more that is created on here, the greater the overall value. This is reflected in market activity during bull runs (not so much during the bears). Hence, the time to build is right now. If we keep doing that, over time, the total value will increase enormously.

With the successful completion of Hard Fork 25, we now have more features which to build with.

Keep in mind, it all adds up in the long rum.
