My second giveaway did not live up to its expectations. Let's try to figure out why

avatar

Even though I strongly believe in hive & leo, I think that we should not underestimate the power of mainstream social media. We can use their influence and special tactics to help spread the word about hive blockchain and the second layer applications.

I recently organized a second giveaway via twitter, wanting it to serve two goals. 1st to spread more awareness about leo and second I wanted to gather some new slogans/motos for leo & see the creativity of the community :)

In case you want to participate, the giveaway is open until Sunday morning so you got another opportunity :)

p.s. Thank you so much @coyotelation for including my giveaway into your contest!

How did the giveaway go so far?

Not so well as the first one - there is a reduction in all numbers at about 50% of

Why do I think that it happened?

Maybe the rules were not so clearly explained, maybe because I did not include hive in the prizes, maybe because it is the end of the week? I will have to make more giveaways and do some more tries before I know more.

In the meantime, here is what I have learned.

My tips for a giveaway

  1. Make sure that the rules are very clearly stated.
  2. Make sure that the rules are simple to understand and follow.
  3. Double check dates/times of deadlines
  4. Set up clear goals
  5. Find which metrics you will keep so that you can evaluate and change strategy if needed

What are the metrics so far?

Aftermath

I will try to follow my own guidelines for the next giveaway and then I will decide if I will make it a weekly or biweekly process... which brings us to the next topic :)

Poll on Twitter

I made a quick poll on twitter, asking people if I should make weekly giveaways poll here

Of course I was expecting that the answer would be yes :) Who can say no to free money? But the reason I made this post was to check out the engagement. My goal is to grow my twitter account (organically) and for that, I will need some extra efforts.

So let's see how it went

Not bad for 4 hours .. but I am sure it can go better :)

Interview

I was told that my interview will be published today so stay tuned for it :) I will share as soon as I see it online!

Final thoughts

That's it for now!
I will do my best to post the giveaway winners tomorrow, but the one with the slogan is not an easy one .. I got many good entries :)

Hi @kararinaramm
I had little time in these days and I missed this nice giveaway of yours but I won't miss the next one.
Even if you had less participants you still promoted Hive and LEO and this is always a success ;)

I wouldn't read too much into it. It could have been something as simple as time of day or day of the week.

I once wrote a post about the best time to publish an article and had to change the time that I uploaded, when I lived in Germany as it was 6 hours ahead of New York City time.

Since most of my audience is from the US, UK and Western Europe, I post with NY time in mind. Most Americans live in the eastern half of the country, so with the US, I'm thinking: East Coast, Texas, California, DONE.

The only time I favorite or retweet tweets are if I happen to see them in my timeline or if the author shows up in my mentions, I might check their tweets out. So I'm not sure I saw your tweet.

Another thing: post frequency.

I see Nathan Mars tweets for instance, because he posts on Twitter multiple times per day, so I favorite him a lot. People who may only tweet once a day, may be missing chunks of their audience who come online at different times. I wonder if that may be what happened with your tweet?

Thank you for your detailed reply!
Even if you did not see my post, there were 30+ RTs so normally it should have passed by you .. but maybe you are right. There are many factors that could have caused it, and that is why I am not stopping here :)

I just favorited it a few minutes ago. Curious as to how I missed it, I checked my mentions and realize they only show interactions on my tweets.

If it'll help, here's how I use Twitter. After logging in, I first scroll to the top of my timeline and check maybe 10 tweets for anything interesting. Then I look at my mentions and lastly my own tweets to see how they did. Next, I might tweet something and then log out until later in the day.

So I don't think it's anything you're doing outside of maybe tweet time or frequency. I see Nathan because he tweets a lot and shows up in the first 10 or 20 tweets in my timeline. So I favorite him, which causes him to show up even more. (Smart guy!) I didn't enter the contest, because I wanted to leave it for new people. But I realize I may be missing many tweets that don't show up at the top of my timeline. So this helps me out as well. :)
