I was searching for some templates today and I realized something that I had long seen, but never actually searched for it. Canva has Canva Creators! Users who publish templates for us to use free or with the pro license! So, immediately I wondered. How can someone become a Canva Creator? And how can someone earn?

Who can become a Canva Creator?

Template Creators-in beta-
Primarily graphic designers, web designers, desktop publishers, art directors, and layout artists.

Element Creators
Include photographers, illustrators, typographers, videographers, and artists.

Are you a qualified teacher who wants to join Canva Creators? -in beta-
Education Speciality Creators are teachers who specifically create educational resources and elements.

What type of content can you publish?

You can publish graphics, photos, templates

Canva Creators can publish elements and templates to the marketplace. Elements are design assets like photos, graphics, illustrations, vector art, icons, and custom stickers. Templates are customizable layouts for presentations, social media graphics, videos, t-shirts, brochures, flyers, posters, and so much more.

How to apply

Template Creators & Special Education Teachers can apply right now, Element Creators can apply and wait until sign ups are open again.

How & how much can someone earn?

As I can find in the below link at the time this post is written, there are two ways to earn.

.1. Individual sales

You’ll receive 35% of every content license purchase of your Pro elements. The remaining goes to payment of processing fees (approximately $0.30 on a $1 purchase), and to Canva to cover costs of developing and promoting the platform.

.2. Royalties

How much you’ll receive from the royalty pool for your templates will depend on how many template usages you have. Creators are paid for both Free and Pro template usage.

If you choose the 'elements creator' you will need to fill in a form with information about you.

The Template Creator program is currently in beta. Therefore, we are only onboarding a small number of people. To apply, submit your application below.

For Element Creators - anyone can sign up and submit elements. However, due to the program's popularity, signups for Element Creators are currently on hold. Register your interest to be the first to hear when signups reopen.
