How The Advent Of Technology Revolutionalized The Meaning Of "Hardwork"

15 years ago, I had no idea the world would change at the pace which it has done. These changes somehow has affected the concept of hardwork. Back in the days hardwork was defined by brute force, in the 1950, a wealthy man in western Africa Nigeria can be defined by how strong they are, they can own 10 farms, 15 wives and 55 children working on these farms of course these means bountiful harvest, do the maths.

Nowadays people work hard even when they're virtually doing nothing, these is what a lot of Nigerias would call "soft work", make no mistake making money will never be easy till the end of time but the only thing that will change or evolve over time is how comfortable people will become in the process of making money.

Most tech nowadays is to firstly make life easier before performing its primary function. E-banking was not a thing in Nigeria in 2005, to send money to anyone, you will have to look for the bank they use, go there and send the money physically, making it difficult for commerce to thrive, the discomfort made it difficult for a lot of business to grow.

This is to show that when lives and process and protocol becomes easy it makes for man to thrive seemlessly and this proves that anyone is way more efficient and effective when they are comfortable at the job they're doing. The internet has revolutionalized the aspect of making money and given it a new definition of ease, Why? Because people who has been ignored in the past are now given more opportuinities.

In Nigeria, people who were regular content creators had no opportunities to monetize these skills, all you had was real-time companies and businesses who are seeking to employ manual labour, young graduates for physical marketing in many geographical locale, the more skin you had in the game, the more you could produce at a specific target and this means more money $$$ for you. On the other hand, people who are too frail for physical labour goes hungry and unemployed.

It created a dichotomy, opportunities were limited creating huge scarcity and wealth and its creation were majorly in the hands of government creating poverty at the base core. This means opportunities came and are still coming with as the internet continue to revolutionalizalise and imagine a fully decentralised internet and the opportunities it'll bring.

Back in the days, blogging was a hobby or passion, nowadays so many paid Incentivizes are added to it, I particularly blogged back in 2013 just to showcase my passion, I had to still do a day job to pay for internet fees.

Only formal education back then guranteed you a formal White collar employement and the other option was a menial job but this has changed, a person without a university degree can be self taught and bring tech skills to maybe a finacial institution for a sweet five figure deal. Its amazing as the world has changed, let us not even begin to talk about Crypto and blockchain and how this tech has redefined money, redistribution, anonymity and even how wealth generation has been been given a different definition.

What does this utterly mean? Government and protocols will begin to slowly ebb away as they will not be able to control the advent of money making anymore. You see, "working hard" is different from hardwork, someone can be involved with "hardwork" but they're not even "hard working" this is because only proof of work is how result is shown, when there's result or results then no one wants to know if you engaged in hardwork for you to be called a 'hard working" person.

This generally feels like a tongue twister but then, it's how our world has been refined by technology and the internet. More people will have the opportunities to be exposed to opportunities at their fingertips and nowadays the choice to remain poor will Only be sponsored by the decision to remain ignorant.

Soft work is still work, even if our ancestors think we don't work today. It's too late for me to upvote this post, so please accept this slice of !PIZZA instead.
