Merry Christmas...This Year's Gift Was Different!
Before I dive into the post I wanted to write this evening...
Merry Christmas to everyone who is celebrating and Happy Holidays to everyone else!
I'm so grateful for every single one of you that I've engaged with over the past year. It's been a crazy 12 months, but as the year comes to a close...Gratitude is on my mind!
And as it's the holiday season...I thought I'd share with you a special 'Christmas' gift I was able to share with my son earlier today...
So, a little backstory!
When I 'give gifts' for the holidays, it's usually something unique...For example, over the past few years I've been sending 'Kiva' gifts to my family...A small $25 donation they can gift to entrepreneurs around the world.
It's something different, and being the entrepreneur that I am, I want to not only encourage the gift giving of Kiva but also spur something inside of the receiver...To look at starting a business of their own...
Hey, we can dream right...I truly believe entrepreneurship can fix a lot of the problems in this world!
So fast forward to this year's Christmas and I gave my kid a choice...
I gave him a choice.
"I know we're thousands of miles apart so I'll have to send you a gift...You have a choice. I'll send you cash, or I'll send you some crypto!"
My oldest son is 19, so he 'gets' crypto. He understands it and without waiting a second...He said...
CRYPTO PLEASE!
I'm a very proud Papa tonight 😀
I've been trying to drag him to Hive for months now, maybe this will be the final step needed to onboard him LOL
He's new to crypto and needed a wallet, so I sent him to ShakePay, a Canadian based crypto app and got him signed up...
And away we go.....
So cool that in 2020 the gift that the young ones want is...Crypto!
And it's not just the kids either...
My good buddy @ericburgoyne got a nice little surprise from his better half this evening too...
She and I are friends on Facebook, so she sent me a message and asked if I could buy some Hive for Eric and she would send me the cash for it.
(Eric is working on her to bring her to Hive too LOL)
In came the transfer and bang!
2020....
As crazy as it's been, we're seeing how more people are willing to dive in, give the gift of crypto and start becoming much more interested in what so many of us have been building here for years....
So with that...Hope you all have a fantastic holiday! And thank you so much for adding to my journey here on the blockchain this year.
P.S. Rumor has it, there are Christmas gifts for people that comment on this post....Shhhh, it's a secret!

I think 2020 has taught people that one needs to explore other choices should the case of another pandemic suffices again. I mean it wasn't totally a food year personally but then crypto wise it has been evolutionary. Glad to see someone buying into hive.

This year gift is almost about crypto. I have seen people who have also been using crypto as Christmas gift just like you and your son.

Its better to give than to receive they say...
It definitely is difficult to save especially a parent with kids.
I am praying the crypto I earn here and other will be enough for my retirement. Once all my kids are independent I am going to focus solely on earning crypto. That's part of my retirement dream.

hehe i made a similar post, that i basically completely switch over the belief that i wanted clothes or money for Christmas. I now want cryptos and i want to be surprised by what cryptos should i see! Maybe Hive and Leo? or another one that i never heard of? Crypto art? know knows!
Also, it's amazing that your son preferred crypto and he is just 19. If he dives into the crypto world in that age imagine the posibilities!

Crypto is the gift that keeps on giving, like herpes but without the trip to the clinic.
It is great to see so many people buying into what is going on here. A couple years ago I gave my daughter SPI tokens as a BDay present. Turned out well for her so far.
We need to find unique ways to get people involved in crypto. This is how we are growing. It is still one person at a time.

This has been a year for the history books. I for one am glad it is almost over. I am still fairly new to the crypto game but I am learning more each day and have added both FirePay and HivePay to my website. I have bought, sold, traded and staked crypto. I have even won a few Crypto gifts. Looking forward to 2021 being a very lucrative Crypto year.

Great Christmas Story. I, too, have been able to get my daughter to see the value of investing in crypto (she bought some bitcoin when it was around $12K, I think). She's just letting it ride. She has also invested in some Hive and has been delegating it out through Dlease. I still have not convinced her of the power of creation and curation, but I'm still trying. My wife, on the other hand, has no interest in crypto at all. I have created her an account and given her a small stake, but unless I do something for her, it just sits there. Who knows (dreamingly)...maybe one day.
