Introducing....The Hive Engine Index Token

We've been busy little 'bees' over the past few months! (We being @blainjones and I...Co-owners of @clicktrackprofit)

About 3 weeks ago, we introduced HivePay.io to help merchants and website owners open their businesses up to the Hive and Hive-Engine eco-system. As we continue to develop this project, it was pretty clear...We're in love with the potential of not only Hive but more importantly...The layer 2 possibilities :)

And there is nothing more exciting to us than what is happening on Hive-Engine. The tokens, the communities, the projects....Have really captured our imagination!

We thought there was a need for something a little different on the markets...Something that the 'everyday crypto' enthusiast could dip into without trying to master and learn about every token that is available. So we did what traditional markets do...

We indexed Hive-Engine :)

Introducing....

Hive-Engine's first indexed token, that hopes to capture the top performing tokens on the market!

By buying INDEX on the market, you are essentially purchasing a token that is backed 100% by each token within the index.

How does it work?

INDEX is 100% backed by the tokens it represents. That means if the token represents 1000 LEO tokens, it will hold 1000 LEO tokens!

We regularly review all the top performing tokens within Hive-Engine and select the top tokens to represent the token. This is based on volume averages over the history of each token for a set time.

For every INDEX purchased, a weight is given to the individual tokens represented (based on volume). INDEX then purchases the corresponding weight of each token.

100% backed by every token it represents!

O.K., that sounds cool...How do I profit from buying INDEX?

As the value of the market increases overtime, each INDEX token will HOPEFULLY rise in value.

Also through curation rewards by following curation trails specific to the tokens represented in the INDEX PLUS top performing trails on the blockchain as well.

And finally....Mining Profits!

Payouts are as follows:

  • 80% of all rewards (mining and curation) are paid to INDEX holders based on the percentage of total tokens they hold
  • 10% is used to purchase miners of tokens represented in the INDEX
  • 10% is used for admin fee's

And here's the best part! Rewards are paid out automatically once a day.

What tokens are inside of INDEX?

Note: There are no mining tokens or SWAP tokens inside INDEX!

We have been monitoring the volume and performance of the market for a few weeks now to make sure we added the top performers.

We tried to be as unbiased as possible, and we hope that's evident because the CTP Token is nowhere to be found...Yet...We're always working to raise awareness for it lol ;)

But we chose the following tokens to give INDEX a kick start and launched! Remember, we are monitoring this all the time and if a token starts to massively underperform, or something new takes the lead...We will switch it out. Just like any index.

We think this is a pretty cool project and shows the power of these layer 2 tokens!

That being said, we are always open to suggestions on how to improve and build INDEX up to be an awesome representation of all these projects on Hive.

This sounds like a great investment instrument and I hope you reach same levels as S&P 500 Index! :) Quite innovative to aggregate to best second layer tokens and diversify a portfolio out of it. Risk is managed better and outstanding tokens will surely pull the entire portfolio up.

Yeah it's built for people like me, who like slow and steady and aren't trying to flip things every hour.

Wow this is just amazing @jongolson, an index token for Hive-engine will mean a lot and maybe you could even get some hedge funds interested down the line, you basically tokenized the Hive-engine market cap, keep up your great work, it's awesome.

INDEX is definitely creating a buzz on the blockchain! It's great to see people jumping in & seeing what it's all about. The CTP community is spreading its wings :) And it's always good to see a win-win. I think it will also help create exposure for many H-E tokens as time goes on since many will reach different levels of volume as well. :)

Great idea and this token should do well for a long term investment. This index was needed to get more folks investing that do not have the time to investigate all of the token on the exchange. Keep up the great work.

How to buy index as i checked hive engine, almost all of them are already sold. Was their a presale?
Also how new index tokens are minted or available for sale?

Thanks. I just saw on engine there are 20 @5 hive price so i was wondering. Now someone is selling a few. I will try buying as much as i can.
I still don't get how much coin is worth or is holding in other engine tokens.

No presale at all.

What's confusing for some folks we have found, is how the tokens are issued.

We want to make sure the offering is as in tune to represent the index of the tokens inside of it.

So every 5 minutes, tokens are issues (right now in blocks of 300) at the current price of the H-E market.

It might go up and down, so the price will adjust based on the overall tokens in the index.

Thanks for explanation. It would be great to see a detailed post about how it all works and how one can benefit from it including all the risks involved.

So it means, when token are sold, that hive is used to buy tokens from market with volume ratio?

How will it be converted to profit? Woukd you sell them when price is high and buy when price is low or is there something else?

The index never loses it's holdings because if say you buy INDEX from me, and I'm selling the token...The token has the same holdings, but ownership of the token transfers.

These aren't really designed to flip, it's more of a long term hold...And you are betting on the HE market rising. You can always sell and it's a free market, but for me the real benefit is sitting on them and letting the rewards grow with it.

Just bought 75 tokens at 0.95 Hive average . I think it is great investment as I believe in diversification . Can I know in which coin we receive the curation rewards ?

Yup for sure....

It'll be the coins with the ability to be staked. LEO, STEM, PAL, ARCHON...As well as mining rewards as we purchase more miners.

We've also created curation trails for this thanks to @ctpsb So we'll be generating rewards on specific tokens in the index.

This is such amazing news. It's like a hedge fund but for crypto and it's a lot cheaper than using your typical hedge fund. On top of everything - things are super transparent on blockchain.

I was already impressed by https://hivepay.io this is some seriously cool stuff. You should become a witness 😃

Yeah we will work on exactly how that'll take place. Because we dont wanna crash anything by selling....Maybe distribution to token holders, we will work with that when we change tokens in the index for sure :)

So if I buy 1000 tokens, it will be backed by 1000 of each of these tokens ? I don't think, that is how it's going to work based on price ? So how do you derive for 1000 index tokens, which tokens are backed ?

And what is the supply rate, inflation of index tokens ?

Nope it's a weighted percentage. So we take a ratio of the price to represent the token.

We'll be putting together a page that goes over all the math of it, I'll post it on HE-Index.io when it's ready.

@jongolson, nice to see you bringing all that knowledge from the years experience in marketing. I remember our talk about this in Krakow, the one where I tried to give you some refined water. :)

The index fund idea is new to this ecosystem, but a proven one in the financial market. S&P 500 shall ring a bell to anyone. Let's see how it develops, as I think that it is a good buy and would probably stash some on the long run.

Warren Buffet has put a bet on this, over 1 million $, saying that he picks an ETF and the best managers will not beat him. He won the million and if not him does not understand the market, who else?

Is it possible to convert INDEX tokens to actual tokens from the fund?

For example, I hold 2.39% of INDEX tokens, and the fund holds $4,299.232 worth of tokens, so my share is worth $102.75. But if I tried to sell INDEX, I would get only 294 HIVE (~$33) due to low liquidity.

Hi, I have an idea, this means games from other network can easily be bridged since we can buy their tokens with hive right?
For example, Tezo Trooperz is under the Tezos platform and they use xtz for minting and they use in-game token $rebl FD or rewards.
That means if the Tezo Trooperz game devs can just tie ii t up here by using hive index right!
