In order to get your gZils you have to claim the rewards in Zil. At least that's how it works in Moonlet.

That makes a lot of sense as I never claimed rewards in ZIL yet.

If the amount you staked is low then I suggest you to wait until you get a decent amount of rewards. Anyhow, staking small amounts is not recommended because you'll have to pay more for fees than you ever can make.
Oh man I wish I had more 0's on my accounts haha.
But you're absolutely right and for the small amounts I usually use Binance staking which is free of fee. At least until I get enough coins to stake somewhere else.
