Hello Everyone,

Welcome to Saturday Savers Club with Susie-Saver!

When will @susie-saver hit 530HP?

Hello! The @susie-saver account is sitting at just over 430HP after this week's power-up or 81% of the way towards crossing Minnow status! Last week the account was 73% of the way towards her target.

Here's the challenge: when do you think @susie-saver will reach 530HP? Will it be:
Week 30 - Saturday 24 July
Week 31 - Saturday 31 July
Week 32 - Saturday 7 August
none of the above 😁
Place your bets in the comments

minnow is somewhere between 531HP and 532HP, but what's two HP between savers? 😁

Now then - this week's winners!

Every week, you have the chance to win EDS tokens for commenting. Last week we had comments from @gillianpearce @ericburgoyne @bearmol @justclickindiva @jfang003, @riandeuk, @bashadow and @phoenixwren.

Okay, everyone who commented last week went into the WheelofNames and the winners are: @ericburgoyne and @riandeuk - yay!

- Congratulations!

Thank you for taking part in Saturday Savers Club, everyone!

What's been happening in your world this week? anything exciting or fun? Tell us in the comments - you could win some EDS tokens 😁.

More about EDS tokens

EDS tokens are a low-risk income token, ideal for people who want to save. There were only 20,000 originally and they were all sold at 1 Hive each, with guaranteed earnings of 12% each year. You can now acquire EDS tokens through the EDS Miner token.

Earnings come from powering up and leasing out the Hive that came from selling the tokens, plus earnings from posts and comments each week. EDS pays out every Monday evening. Last week the pay out was equivalent to 24%.

656 😱 EDS Miner tokens left.

Back to business ...

We're going to be here every Saturday through the year growing a little savings honey pot, if you have plans for saving or getting to a different place this time next year - maybe $5 Hive by the end of the year 🤑?

Whatever it is, stick with Susie Saver through the year and we'll get there. Along the way, we'll share lots of tips and tricks for saving and how to get the knack of making your money work for you and not the other way round.

Let's Get Started

saturday_savers_club.jpg

Image by Andy M. from Pixabay Hey Chicken, how are you today? Getting any weather? 😁

We're using the 365 Penny A Day Challenge framework for the Saturday Savers Club. We're aiming to save £667 worth of pennies by the end of the year.

Penny a Day Tracker Sheet

Right click on the image, save it to your computer and then print it out.

Okay, let's check in ...

1. Check Progress

Each week, we're going to check in through this post and see where we are up to. Our target for today, 10 July, was 13.16p. Next week, we'll be saving 13.65p and by Saturday we'll have saved 195.88p (that's 19,588p, just compounding a penny a day)! 😁.

Each week, I'll be buying Hive for @susie-saver's account with the pennies we've saved.

Here's this week's results - 13.65p buys 44.46 Hive.
Nearly 500 Hive saved in 28 weeks (430 Hive powered up, the remainder invested in EDS and EDSM)! Plus we're earning 3.22% inflation on powered up Hive, 24% on EDS tokens and a little on curating and posting!

@susie-saver has powered this week's savings; she's also been voting following a curation trail, bringing her account to nearly 430HP. She's aiming for 530HP and is 81% of the way there. What's your goal?

How much did you save this week? Did you meet your target? Or did you save even more?

Being accountable to another person or a group is a great way to motivate yourself to save (or anything you want to achieve). Of course, you need the right kind of people around you - ones that think what you're trying to do is worth doing ... or at least fun 😁.

Sign up here with us to start your savings journey:

  • just leave a comment below if you want to join the challenge.
  • follow @eddie-earner so you never miss a post (Eddie has lots of ideas about how to make money - he's the earner, I'm the saver - you'll like his posts).

2. The Golden Pig Tip

saturday savers club.jpg

Every week, we're going to share a Golden Pig Tip for saving. By the time you've tried them all you'll have £670 saved.

This Week's Golden Pig Tip

Here's this week's Golden Pig Tip:

We've been talking about having a no-buy month - let's experiment this week with a make do or do without week and see how we get on. In a MDODW week (see what I did there) we aim not to take any unscheduled money out of our current account and make do with what we have already. Any big or non-routine purchases are delayed during this week (unless they're essential, of course) 😁

This is like a rehearsal for our no-buy month - we're experimenting to see how we get on and if we can do it. I was going to do it anyway this week: I have a small sum left in my current account until pay-day. I decided to see how much of that small sum I could hang on to! I know there is one scheduled payment to go out, and there will be one or two fresh produce items to buy, but I'm aiming to have two-thirds of it left by payday 😍.

What do you think Saturday Savers? Will you join me 😍

And today is always a good day to start saving - you can start on Day 1 or make up the first twenty-eight weeks to catch up with @susie-saver. Or join our 100 day savings backwards challenge (ends 31 July 2021).

That's it for this week. Hope you've enjoyed it and look forward to seeing you next Saturday with progress so far and our next Golden Pig tip.

I'm feeling a bit harrumph right now as today was supposed to be a family beach day. We planned it weeks ago but it's raining. Now we're all twiddling our thumbs trying to think up something fun to do but it feels like more of a curl up with a good book kind of day. 😂

I got my first limit order filled on Binance this week which I have mixed feelings about given all the hoo-ha going with British banks.

I've done my research on where I can earn on Bitcoin and now I have to work out how I move the BTC to the places I want to send it.

I asked how to do it with relation to the new BTC pool on CubDefi and was horrified to discover that I will probably have to turn it into ETH first or something. I can't see how that will work given the fees.

It's going to take some time working out how to do transfers which is stuff that I'm not really interested in and makes me feel very nervous.

I will just have to treat it like I did the places to stake research . . . one small step at a time.

Hmmm. A make do or do without week will be easy for me since I found some cash the other day that I didn't spend when most shops were closed due to Covid and those that were open wouldn't take cash.

I'm actually wanting to spend it rather than have it lying around so thanks for reminding me. 😁

Wishing you have a fun and peaceful week! 😍

Oh, shame about the rain, how annoying!
It's a long time since I've had young people around, but we would probably have a card game knockout with a lot of cheating - or arrange a version of wacky races around the house. My tasks always seemed to involve a lot of running up and down the stairs! I'm going to have to veto that when we do get back together 🤣.

Would you earn more in interest by moving your BTC than if you left it in the CubDefi pool? You're right about learning things one step at a time, good way forward.

I'm actually wanting to spend it

Exciting! What's on your list to buy?

I've already turned down one expense, yay!

Oh, shame about the rain, how annoying!

Indeed. We ended up going to a garden centre that has a good children's playground that kept the grandkids entertained for a while leaving the kids free to search for an airbnb for us for a family wedding in September. It was just lovely to all be together to be honest.

Would you earn more in interest by moving your BTC than if you left it in the CubDefi pool?

I have no idea at the moment because I don't know what the fees will be. I'm just assuming that if I have to buy ETH (although I don't get how that works) it will be prohibitively expensive. I have a lot to learn about all this.

What's on your list to buy?

Nothing in particular. I'll probably just be using it instead of a card for everyday expenses.

I've already turned down one expense, yay!

Well done!

Any guesses when @susie-saver will hit 530HP? The account is 81% there.

It's all guessing ... but always cool to have an outlier 😁.
I've just recalculated and could be in next fortnight but, you know, zeno's paradox and that hehe.

Have a good week.

Actually, I don't. Now I'm going to have to google it. 😂

"Zeno's paradoxes of motion are attacks on the commonly held belief that motion is real, but because motion is a kind of plurality, namely a process along a plurality of places in a plurality of times, they are also attacks on this kind of plurality."

You what? Eh? Still none the wiser. 😂 😂 😂

The perception is like when you're waiting for Christmas when you're a kid: the closer you get the further away it seems, time and the days seem to expand.

When you're heading for a target, you can make a calculation that you will reach it in x weeks, but somehow, even though you are making steady progress, you still always have some distance ahead of you and the length of time it takes to reach that target expands. A few weeks ago, I made an estimate when I would reach 10,000 SPI - four weeks later, during which time I had been receiving SPIs and getting closer to my target, I calculated again and it was still the same distance/time away. 🤷‍♀

Congratulations to this week's winners. Like susie-saver I'm moving slowly towards minnow status. I'm now 85% of the journey or 453HP.
Hopefully I'll get there before the end of July.

I’d say by the first weekend in August. But that would be highly dependent on whether or not susie-saver decides to make additional posts or power up.
Here is a link to one of my recent posts. I've started growing tomatoes.

That's right - so many variables to take into account - price of hive, increasing savings contributions every week and the effect or posting. Should be interesting!

I will make a guess of Week 31 - Saturday 31 July for @susie-saver to reach 530 HP. However its just a guess since I don't feel like doing math.

I think a guess is all we can do really, as we aren't able to predict the price of Hive which is a variable in how slowly or quickly we hit the target.

Okay, so we have Week 31 and Week 32 in the mix. Let's see what happens 😍

How's your week been?

My week has been a bit busy so I haven't really been able to post as often. Just the usual Actifit posts when I am able to.

I am still progressing on my goals. One of them was to have 10 EDS miners by the end of the year, I was able to get 2 yesterday, so now up to 7 and seems I will attain that goal.

One of the other big goals is that 10,000 HP powered up mark, getting closer. I went over 8900 HP yesterday and am hoping the curation changes from HF 25 will benefit me and help on that goal.

My guess for the minnowhood:

  • Week 30 - Saturday 24 July

I think it will actually be before that date, call it the 21st.

Good going with your EDSM goals, that's great to see!
I agree with you about HF25, looking forward to seeing the difference it makes - are you aiming for 10K HP by the year end or sooner? Looks like it could be sooner 😍.

Good guess for minnowhood - let's see!

Year end was my goal at the beginning of this year, and if things hold up it could be late October or November. I will likely have my 10 EDSM early and may raise it to 12 one for each month.

My guess is week 32, the beginning of August. :)
I might need more cat food or ginger ale this week, but other than that I probably won't be spending, so I'm down with a MDODW challenge week. ;)
I picked up a few more EDS this week so working my way to earning! :)

My guess is week 32, the beginning of August. :)

I must have been crazy setting this challenge, keeping track is nearly as complicated as doing a treeplanter voting circle 🤣. and I've set it over weeks! Like a friend said to me once when I was dating, "Look, I think it might be best if I vet them first." 😂

We picked a good week to MDODW - cat food and ginger ale are essentials.

So pleased you came across EDS, I think they are such a great little token.

Hello @eddie-earner and @shanibeer. Here's my Week 28 progress report for the Saturday Savers Club.

https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@justclickindiva/week-28-my-2nd-100-days-of-saving-by-justclickindiva-or-saturday-savers-club

  • Week 31 - Saturday 31 July is when I feel @susie-saver will hit her target of Minnow.

Did you mean to say above 450 HP:

@susie-saver has powered this week's savings; she's also been voting following a curation trail, bringing her account to nearly 350HP. She's aiming for 530HP and is 81% of the way there. What's your goal?

  • The Golden Tip: MDODW week. I'M IN. I'll agree not to incur any expenses during the week of 7/10 - 7/17 other than my scheduled outgoing commitment for mid-month household budgeted items. I'll report back daily on my progress and adherence to the challenge.

  • This week has been a bit quiet for me per my progress report. I did manage to set up my Farm for Cub in my MetaMask. I initially set up a Cub-BNB combo. However, I don't particularly like dealing with BNB. I'm still learning how to maneuver and combine coin in the farms. I decided not to harvest my earnings yet.

Hope you had a great savings week everyone.

Have a good weekend and take care. Please stay safe.

Ah, thank you for pointing out the error, I missed that one completely.

I know I've already saved $5 dollars, I wonder if I can up that? Apart from topping up on milk, I have so much fresh food in the house. I'm aiming to clear the decks this week - also with things in the pantry that need using up, cans and dry goods and so on.

Good guess for @susie-saver! Let's see what happens.

I admire you getting to grips with farms, that's beyond me right now.

You're welcome. Oh, you're already starting to save. Then you'll reach your goal sooner. All's good if you do.

That was my thinking too. I cleaned out the fridge and pantry, rotating items and sorting out things to use this week to make complete meals. Only items I needed were some eggs and almond milk on my weekly grocery run. It's just a shame prices have skyrocked.

I think the Farm gripped me into panic. The thought of all this investment opportunity out there, and I can't wrap my head around it fully. My daughter is guiding me gently through the muck, lolol.

Thanks for the engagement.

Congrats to the other winner. I am just saving more and more to get cub life buy in ready for the month. The garden is growing by leaps and bounds, all the hot weather we have been getting has been a great help.

As for when @susie-saver will make her goal I will guess week 31

Have a great week all

Congrats to you too eric, I really like cublife too. Sent some hive the other day for the next monthly group buy. Having more eds definitely helps to grow that over time. And the HP too!

For when @susie-saver will get there: I'm thinking Week 32 - Saturday 7 August

Lot of variables but that's what I'm going with. I'll get there too one day, but often when I want to power up I see other things I want to use the hive on. Splinterlands is really blowing up and Utopis has also been giving really good dividends. And with edsm only having 656 left..

decisions, decisions.. maybe there's no wrong decisions here :-p
