Hello Everyone,

Welcome to Saturday Savers Club with Susie-Saver!

Here we are half way through our year long challenge! Well done Saturdays Savers, we're on the good side now!

This week: HivePUD Challenge

The monthly HivePUD takes place on 1 July 2021 - read all about it in @traciyork's HivePUD Announcement Post. Power up a minimum of 10 Hive on 1 July, leave a comment on this post and be in with a chance to win SPI, LBI and CL tokens!

Now then - this week's winners!

Every week, you have the chance to win EDS tokens for commenting. Last week we had comments from @gillianpearce @ericburgoyne @bearmol @justclickindiva @missaj @jfang003, @riandeuk, @bashadow, @dagger212 and @thegoliath.

Okay, everyone who commented last week went into the WheelofNames and the winners are: @missaj and @thegoliath - yay!

We also had two other winners this week - three SPI tokens go to: @jfang003 for a great savings review and @bearmol for a fab progress report. hurrah!

- Congratulations!

Thank you for taking part in Saturday Savers Club, everyone!

What's been happening in your world this week? anything exciting or fun? Tell us in the comments - you could win some EDS tokens 😁.

More about EDS tokens

EDS tokens are a low-risk income token, ideal for people who want to save. There were only 20,000 originally and they were all sold at 1 Hive each, with guaranteed earnings of 12% each year. You can now acquire EDS tokens through the EDS Miner token.

Earnings come from powering up and leasing out the Hive that came from selling the tokens, plus earnings from posts and comments each week. EDS pays out every Monday evening. Last week the pay out was equivalent to 24%.

679 EDS Miner tokens left.

Back to business ...

We're going to be here every Saturday through the year growing a little savings honey pot, if you have plans for saving or getting to a different place this time next year - maybe $5 Hive by the end of the year 🤑?

Whatever it is, stick with Susie Saver through the year and we'll get there. Along the way, we'll share lots of tips and tricks for saving and how to get the knack of making your money work for you and not the other way round.

Let's Get Started

saturday_savers_club.jpg

Image by Andy M. from Pixabay Hello Chicken, how's your week been? 😁

We're using the 365 Penny A Day Challenge framework for the Saturday Savers Club. We're aiming to save £667 worth of pennies by the end of the year.

Penny a Day Tracker Sheet

saturday_saver_club.png

Right click on the image, save it to your computer and then print it out.

Okay, let's check in ...

1. Check Progress

Each week, we're going to check in through this post and see where we are up to. Our target for today, 26th June, was 12.18p. Next week, we'll be saving 12.67p and by Saturday we'll have saved 169.07p!

Each week, I'll be buying Hive for @susie-saver's account with the pennies we've saved.

Here's this week's results - 12.18p buys 56.65 Hive.
Over 425 Hive saved in 26 weeks (349 Hive powered up, the remainder invested in EDS and EDSM)! Plus we're earning 3.22% inflation on powered up Hive, 24% on EDS tokens and a little on curating!

@susie-saver has powered this week's savings; she's also been voting following a curation trail, bringing her account to nearly 350HP. She's aiming for 530HP and is 66% of the way there. What's your goal?

How much did you save this week? Did you meet your target? Or did you save even more?

Being accountable to another person or a group is a great way to motivate yourself to save (or anything you want to achieve). Of course, you need the right kind of people around you - ones that think what you're trying to do is worth doing ... or at least fun 😁.

Sign up here with us to start your savings journey:

  • just leave a comment below if you want to join the challenge.
  • follow @eddie-earner so you never miss a post (Eddie has lots of ideas about how to make money - he's the earner, I'm the saver - you'll like his posts).
  • share this post if you think your followers might be interested.

2. The Golden Pig Tip

saturday savers club.jpg

Every week, we're going to share a Golden Pig Tip for saving. By the time you've tried them all you'll have £670 saved.

This Week's Golden Pig Tip

Here's this week's Golden Pig Tip:

Save the Savings - every time you save a little money - using coupons, getting something for less than you expected, being treated to a drink or a meal you were going to pay for ... save what you would have spent!

Now, shall we have a no buy month? If so, which month shall we choose (between July-November) and what should the rules be? Tell us in the comments below.

And today is always a good day to start saving - you can start on Day 1 or make up the first twenty-six weeks to catch up with @susie-saver. Or join our 100 day savings backwards challenge (ends 31 July 2021).

That's it for this week. Hope you've enjoyed it and look forward to seeing you next Saturday with progress so far and our next Golden Pig tip.

EDS, @eddie-earner's income token, is part of the SPinvest family including SPI (@spinvest), LBI (@lbi-token) and the @spinvest-leo account - a cool club in the making. Spinvest Family Motto: Get Rich Slowly.

Hello @eddie-earner and @shanibeer. Here is my Week 26 activities, together with my 2nd Quarter Progress Report:

https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@justclickindiva/2nd-quarter-progress-report-during-week-26-or-april-june-2021-for-saturday-savers-club

Congratulations to:

@missaj and @thegoliath for your wins in the Wheel of Names; and
@jfang003 and @bearmol for winning SPI for your 2nd quarter Progress Reports.

Also congratulations to @susie-saver for your Hive purchase with your pennies saved and for powering up again this week.

Golden Pig Tip. What a coincidence. I was just thinking about the gift cards that my children always give us for special occasions. They're usually cards for eating out when we're on the run. So that we won't miss out, we normally carry them with us so whatever cards we have is what we'll end up eating on that occasion.

Also, I'm a coupon fanatic when it comes to saving money on groceries and other personal care items. Personal care items can be expensive. Also, as I discussed before, I utilize coupons for grocery items to stock up. Now that produce, meats, dairy, and other items have sky-rocketed, I'll be utilizing my coupons even more when my grocers have a special sale.

Take care everyone.

Hi @justclickindiva thank you for your lovely 2nd Quarter Report - I have sent over 3 SPI. Thank you for supporting Saturday Savers Club.

It's a funny thing, I'm always very pleased with myself if I get a bargain and would even more pleased with myself if I saved what I'd saved in the process; but I always feel curiously cheated if I planned to buy a meal and someone treats me. Perhaps I would feel better if I saved that money, too. Funny psychology, I know. Coupons are not such a big thing in England - there are lots of promotions but they tend to be buy one get one free or variations of that.

What do you think about the suggestion for a no-buy month challenge? You can buy some things, of course, food and essentials, and everyone could declare their own rules for what they are not going to buy, because we all have different circumstances.

Hello @shanibeer Thank you so much for your kind words and the 3 SPI. I certainly appreciate it.

You now, when we do use a gift card from my children and get back home, I transfer the exact amount to my savings if I don't have cash at hand to put away in my at-home safe for emergency use later.

Coupons are widely available and popular here in the U.S. However, the retailers have cut back on the savings value. Consumers were entitled to double and triple coupon value up to a certain amount. That means you could possibly get an items free.

One grocery trip my bill was about $85 before coupons were applied. My total I paid was $44. I'll never forget that shopping trip.

OMG....it's so funny that you mention the no-buy month challenge. Several months ago before I joined the Saturday Savers Club, I challenged myself to a no-buy for PAPER TOWELS for a month. I succeeded, then expanded it for another month. I had a great plan to use my special kitchen towels I purchased on a 1-time buy. I make sure I washed them regularly. The frequency of washing didn't cost anything additional since I'd already purchased a 6-month supply of laundry detergent.

This made me laugh --- you have to be the Saver of all Savers!

I've just remembered that I have some loyalty cards with stores that I like but, with the exception of one, I am useless at taking advantage of the points!

Thank you for your kind words. Yep, I never miss an opportunity to save anywhere in my budget.

You are correct about the loyalty cards. The primary one I use gives us points toward reduced fuel prices at their pump. It's especially of value in filling up our RV, which can cost over $100 dollars.

Also, we get coupons from that store for FREE items. I never miss out on the free items. I just redeem the coupons and throw the items in my pantry long-term storage or freezer.

I'm sorry @shanibeer but I'm not familiar with the concept of a no buy month. Can you explain a little more about what it entails?

My plan is to just keep acquiring the EDS with my EDSM. I haven't followed the savings plan but I keep accumulating Hive at these low levels. It's hard to resist.

It is huh? I'm rather worried I'm not saving too much and buying too much hive hehe

But then again.. is that possible?

A quick comment this week as I'm away with friends.

I've been buying little bits of bitcoin laddering down as usual. And I finally got a Binance account and put a couple of limit orders there. Not sure what the master plan is with that yet but I@ve been dragging my feet about opening an account so I'm glad it's done. 😁

Have a fun week!

Maybe it's the "let's see what happens" one? 😁

Got my first bit of EDS from EDSM yesterday, very cool! Haven't joined PUD before as I mostly just power up whenever I feel I want to power some extra up. But might save some to join this challenge.

Saving the savings is a great tip, congrats to all the winners this week!

HivePUD is good fun - just 10 Hive required to be part of the day and it helps to encourage everyone. You'll get a beautiful badge, too, from @hivebuzz.

Glad you are enjoying EDSM 😍

Hmm how does it encourage anyone if I power up hive? There's enough incentive to power up hive throughout the month in my opinion.. unless you don't believe in it long term. But not sure what someone like that is doing here anyway :-P

Hmm how does it encourage anyone if I power up hive?

It's about visibility and spreading the word. It's not about you on your own, but it is about a lot of people working together.

But not sure what someone like that is doing here anyway

People are here for all different kinds of reasons, that's the beauty of it.

Yeah ok that makes sense I guess, for someone who's maybe in doubt about powering up or not and need the group mentality to do it.

Sure thing, but anyone not believing in the long term succes is kinda wasting their time here no? :-P

I'm not sure that anyone is ever wasting their time when they are learning and participating.

0

avatar

Well, let me put it this way. Why do people participate and learn here? They want to earn some coin and see how this is a good project and are excited for its future or at least recognise it as a possible opportunity and therefore want to be a part of it and learn more about it.. lacking that I'd say someone is wasting their time, as someone who just wants to earn some quick coin can probably spend the time more efficient elsewhere (depending on country of course) and learning and participating in something you don't stand for doesn't sound like a great plan, does it?

Now that sounds really negative and all so I'll leave it at that! I kinda think most that last here are positive about the opportunity and possibilities and most that aren't won't stick around for very long. (Probably just until the next dip/hint of a bear market)

The EDS earnings are amazing. Probably not sustainable in the long run but even the stated 12% is much better than anything available in the legacy economy.

And EDSM with a long-term 20% is fantastic, even if it’s an illiquid token.

Yes, I special fondness for EDS, similar to SBI/HBI.

I would say November as most flks will want extra for Christmas shopping.

Have a great week all

Hello @ericburgoyne good to see you 🙂, glad to see you are saving away. How's the garden? We've had some very cool weather here and lots of rain. Everything is looking very green and fresh but I would say growth has slowed - we need a few warm sunny days.
November is a good choice - I was thinking October or November. Several people have asked what a no buy month is, so I'm going to write about it next week.

We are in the middle of a heat wave here and the plants are doing well. Just had another batch of strawberries yesterday. the tomatoes have flowers on them and the bees are having fun. We could use some of that rain as it has been really dry here. Have a great week.

That is great news. We went shopping yesterday as I was sitting in the with the AC on waiting for my better half to finish shopping. I saw in the garden section they had some tomato plants, so I got out of the car and had a look and asked how much they were they said they are 50% off so I looked threw them and found what I had been looking for a patio tomato plant. This thing already has tomatoes growing on it I should have my first Tomato off of it in about 2 weeks. So I am a happy camper.

Hello. Thank you so much for your support. I took advantage of the dip in price of Hive when it fell to 17cents. Just couldn't pass up the opportunity once my daughters sent me some btc to make the trade.

I transferred the additional amount over 1K to my Hive savings.

Hello! I was just reading @shanibeer's HivePUD post and went looking up EDS tokens because of it. So I bought a couple to start! I'm not in the Saturday Savers Club at this point (still struggling to make ends meet ...once I can get there, then I can save, lol), but doing my best to make my earnings on Hive work for me. :)

I am very good at couponing (per this weeks tip), but I inevitably always need the saved money for other bills and such. 😂 I will consider it a success if I get to save it!
I got my mom to join one of my rebate apps and she is knocking it out of the park so far and is saving her rebate money for xmas shopping.
