Hello Everyone,

Welcome to Saturday Savers Club with Susie Saver!

Another beautiful Saturday here in the Middle Lands of England. The garden is doing well - tomatoes growing inches at a time! Wish I'd got some strawberries in this year, lovely to eat them straight from the plant.

Well, it seems we had a few wobbles last week, one or two people went off track (don't worry, they all made it back again). Not surprising as we start to hit the middle run of a year long project, when we're over the excitement of starting and watching our pennies grow but we haven't got to the home run yet.

So, we're going to have another SPI giveaway this week: to be in with a chance to win, leave us a comment with your top tip for getting back on track (or staying on track) when your motivation drops. Maybe you speak to a friend? Remind yourself of your goals? Buy a third-of-the-way treat and get back to the grind next week?

What's your favourite way of maintaining your momentum to keep saving?

Now then - this week's EDS winners!

Every week, you have the chance to win EDS tokens for commenting. Last week we had comments from @gillianpearce @ericburgoyne @bearmol @justclickindiva @missaj @jfang003, @riandeuk and @bashadow.

Okay, everyone who commented last week went into the WheelofNames and the winners are: @bearmol and @bashadow - yay!

- Congratulations!

Thank you for taking part in Saturday Savers Club, everyone!

What's been happening in your world this week? anything exciting or fun? Tell us in the comments - you could win some EDS tokens 😁.

More about EDS tokens

EDS tokens are a low-risk income token, ideal for people who want to save. There were only 20,000 originally and they were all sold at 1 Hive each, with guaranteed earnings of 12% each year. You can now acquire EDS tokens through the EDS Miner token.

Earnings come from powering up and leasing out the Hive that came from selling the tokens, plus earnings from posts and comments each week. EDS pays out every Monday evening. Last week the pay out was equivalent to 23%.

Just checked - 700 EDS Miner tokens left.

Back to business ...

We're going to be here every Saturday through the year growing a little savings honey pot, if you have plans for saving or getting to a different place this time next year - maybe $5 Hive by the end of the year 🤑?

Whatever it is, stick with Susie Saver through the year and we'll get there. Along the way, we'll share lots of tips and tricks for saving and how to get the knack of making your money work for you and not the other way round.

Let's Get Started

We're using the 365 Penny A Day Challenge framework for the Saturday Savers Club. We're aiming to save £667 worth of pennies by the end of the year.

Penny a Day Tracker Sheet

Right click on the image, save it to your computer and then print it out.

Okay, let's check in ...

1. Check Progress

Each week, we're going to check in through this post and see where we are up to. Our target for today, 5th June, was 10.71p. Next week, we'll be saving 11.20p and by Saturday we'll have saved 133.2p!

Each week, I'll be buying Hive for @susie-saver's account with the pennies we've saved.

Here's this week's results - 10.71p buys 26.31 Hive.
Over 300 Hive saved in 23 weeks (217 Hive powered up, the remainder invested in EDS and EDSM)! Plus we're earning 3.22% inflation on powered up Hive, 23% on EDS tokens and a little on curating!

@susie-saver has powered this week's savings; she's also been voting following a curation trail, bringing her account to nearly 217HP. She's aiming for 530HP and is 41% of the way there. What's your goal?

How much did you save this week? Did you meet your target? Or did you save even more?

Being accountable to another person or a group is a great way to motivate yourself to save (or anything you want to achieve). Of course, you need the right kind of people around you - ones that think what you're trying to do is worth doing ... or at least fun 😁.

Sign up here with us to start your savings journey:

  • just leave a comment below if you want to join the challenge.
  • follow @eddie-earner so you never miss a post (Eddie has lots of ideas about how to make money - he's the earner, I'm the saver - you'll like his posts).
  • share this post if you think your followers might be interested.

2. The Golden Pig Tip

saturday savers club.jpg

Every week, we're going to share a Golden Pig Tip for saving. By the time you've tried them all you'll have £670 saved.

This Week's Golden Pig Tip

Here's this week's Golden Pig Tip:

Set a budget for your food spending, especially if you are going into a supermarket. Plan your spending before you go and write a list. Calculate the cost of your list and only have enough cash on you to cover the items on your list. Another way to do it is to have a debit card only for your household shopping - only transfer the amount in your budget to your debit card.

And today is always a good day to start saving - you can start on Day 1 or make up the first twenty-two weeks to catch up with @susie-saver. Or join our 100 day savings backwards challenge.

That's it for this week. Hope you've enjoyed it and look forward to seeing you next Saturday with progress so far and our next Golden Pig tip.

@eddie-earner content contributed by @silverstackeruk and @shanibeer.
Today's post by @shanibeer writing as @susie-saver.

EDS, @eddie-earner's income token, is part of the SPinvest family including SPI (@spinvest), LBI (@lbi-token) and the @spinvest-leo account - a cool club in the making. Spinvest Family Motto: Get Rich Slowly.

I have been mining and Hodling those EDS tokens and will keep on doing so :) for me it is one of my major investments within the hive ecosystem. I like slow and steady.

I completed my primary goal of he year and now have 100 SPI. I was able o get that one more EDS miner, and am still hoping to continue to build them. I'll be getting number four after posting this comment. With only 700 left I may need to double up on my monthly buys if I am going to hold ten by years end. Just have to see how things work out.

A few other goals is I am working on reaching one ETH by years end, not sure if I will make it or not. I am letting my EOS and DOGE drips build. I pushed both of those to one full token last week, and for now will just let the all the various drips I get build and use some of the other drips to add other tokens I want, like the EDS miners.

They may only be small drips but when added up and sold they do give a Hive or two depending on how long I let them sit in the engine.

@eddie-earner and @shanibeer I had a good week. Hope you had the same. Here is my weekly Saturday Savers Club report in which I felt I had a productive week and met my investment and savings goals:

https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@justclickindiva/week-23-half-way-through-my-100-days-of-saving-backward-by-justclickindiva-or-saturday-savers-club

Also, congratulations to @bearmol and @bashadow for winning EDS in the the WheelOfNames.

SPI GIVE-AWAY: MOTIVATION

For this week's SPI give-away, the topic is how to keep motivated. This topic is especially essential for me since I started my participation in the Saturday Savers Club on January 1st. I'm so proud of myself for sticking with it for the past 23 weeks.

However, I suffer from severe sinus problems. This causes me to become lethargic for several weeks at a time. That's why my energy level drops to a low point. I don't even want to get out of the bed, let alone sit in front of a computer for several hours at a time. A couple weeks ago, I fell behind on documenting my daily savings in the Saturday Savers Club. I was highly tempted to just skip a week. I tried to talk myself out of catching up by saying it's a year-long project; one week won't hurt.

Like everything in life, especially offline, procrastination is a killer of projects and goals. It has never been a part of my personality. To do so only allows your goals and plans to take a downward spiral. However, I sleeping several hours, I felt refreshed enough to spend a few hours online catching up before my usual Saturday report. So glad I did.

Also, after completing my 1st 100 days of Savings, I felt depleted. I felt I had achieved a major accomplishment to stick with a project for 100 days. I thought about taking a break and starting up again the next month. Then @shanibeer and I were talking about other projects. The idea of the 100 Days of Saving Backward was introduced. I knew I needed a new challenge to keep me going.

I joined the Saturday Savings Club's 100 Days of Saving Backward Challenge in April. This was the jump start I needed after saving forward for 100 days. I wanted to do something different to keep me motivated and excited about saving. Now, I'm closing in on the completion of this challenge on July 31st. That means I will have completed my 2nd 100 days in the Saturday Savers Club.

Can't wait for the start of my 3rd 100 Days of Savings. This time, I'll revert to saving forward. What a motivation to switch up and do things differently. @shanibeer may devise another way before then. I can now see myself completing the 365 Day Savings Challenge on December 31st of this year.

Hope everyone has a good rest of your weekend. Take care and see you next week.

Some good motivation tips there, @justclickindiva!
When you're tired, take a break and come back refreshed to finish your tasks.
Then another is to change things up a little to keep i interesting.
I guess there was also that one about doing miserable jobs when you are feeling miserable lolol 😁.
So glad you can see yourself completing a year long challenge.
Personally, I like it slow and mindless: all I have to do is turn up every Saturday!

Hello @shanibeer Yes, I should have included the one about going on and doing the miserable jobs when you don't feel like it. But sometimes, you just have to give in and go to bed. A long nap always refreshes me a bit.

Yes, definitely I see myself completing the year's commitment. And I advise anyone else to start if you're thinking about it, but haven't yet. For those who have joined, please continue and hold steady.

You know, years ago I used to think that saving meant a major challenge and change to your lifestyle. One I discovered the small investor and saver, my life changed. Even with the Saturday Savers Club, I'm only saving .001 HBD each day. It may seem small but it adds up. And remember, HBD can convert to the price of Hive, so you receive more.

Thanks for your engagement.

I used to think that saving meant a major challenge and change to your lifestyle.

I know what you mean ... eventually it can mean a major change to your lifestyle - more security and a better quality of life ... but it can all start very small.

I managed to get my dollar cost averaging buy in last week but I'll probably have to up my limit order price tomorrow to get tomorrow's in. I'll see if there's another drop over night and, if not, I add £1000 to my top order.

Sounds complicated but it actually isn't when you can see the ladder.

Other than that I don't think I've progressed much this week cryto wise.

I wish I could say I spent too much time at the beach but I didn't do that either.

I'm in one of those periods in my life where I have a lot of things I want done but I don't want to do them.

Have a fun week!

Congrats to this weeks winners !! I am hitting my saving goals each thanks to this weekly post that keeps me on track. Still saving to get some more CL tokens for June buy in.

I am a goal motivated person so when I have a goal set I am not the kind of person that has to be motivated.

The strawberries were great and there should be some more Monday or Tuesday, it has been sunny and hot since last week so everything is growing like crazy. How are your tomatoes doing ?

The tomatoes are good - they slowed down a little now after their first spurt when I put them outside. It's taken a long time to warm up at night this year. I've also got courgettes (zucchine), beans and potatoes out there. Lots of herbs and salads, too.

That all sounds good 😍. I had a quick look at your profile, lots to learn about dCity! Great to have someone from Iceland, too.

Do you have a long term plan for your hodlings? Most people here have set a goal for what they would like to achieve by the end of the year (some have goals with a shorter timeline).

Keep posting your comments, we're here every week and we love to here from you (also the chance to win SPIs, LBIs and EDSs). The giveaway this week is for tips about keeping motivated when your savings mojo is flagging. Any good ideas from your experience?

My motivation would be to check my goals and see how well I did towards them. Personally I think the best thing to do when motivation is low is just to read other people's posts. It might just randomly spur up some ideas and especially those talking about staying consistent even when times are rough.

The weather is not great today but I have salad in the garden and I transplanted the leeks ... Are we saving money with a garden 🤔

0

Hmm, it depends which costs and savings you are including 😁.
I save money by being busy in the garden instead of going out, and the health benefits are huge. I guess the environmental savings are huge, too, although we may not see them directly.
Fresh food from the garden is a real boost, though, I love going out to pick my tea!

Thanks @eddie-earner for the 50% increase in my EDS portfolio. I love this token because it's the gift that keeps on giving.

Congratulations @bashadow.

This week I'm up to 423HP. I have been going in slow motion as we are currently taking care of a few things.

We'll be back to posting albeit at a slower rate in a month or so.

Thank you. I just got my fourth EDS miner, I am hoping to have ten by the end of the year. I have been enjoying the benefit of these token drippers and dividend payers. It took me 8 months to get my 100 SPI, I had a slow down on getting them because of other token suppliers. Dhedge is a good one for getting lots of drips and then sell those drips and re-buy. It is tough getting started I will say, so many choices now to earn with.

New ground floor opportunities kept popping up, LBI EDS CubLife, and then I learned about dhedge and Index and well can't get them all at once, but I never forgot the first investment one of SPI. It got me started and looking harder at what other tokens offered.

Hundred procent get what you're saying, but I like to get a little bit of all the things that are good. And then re-invest in whatever is best at that moment. Bit by bit you grow it all. And of course if a project doesn't work anymore sell it off and invest in another one

Greetings fellow savers. Congratulations to the winners. My 500 yen coin can now weighs 0.6 kgs that’s double what it weighed the last time . I’m not sure how much is in it. (I wonder how much a 500 yen coin weighs 🤔) Anyway, the coins are increasing, still need to bring some other things under control but Rome wasn’t built in a day. We press on! Have a great week everyone,

Good tip although I personally don't really like utilizing it. Why? Because it takes a lot of time and effort, which can be used for other things that possibly make or save you more. Now don't get me wrong, if you absolutely need or want to save the money by all means go for it as I'm sure it does work. Gotta find what works for you right :-)

On second thought I do stick (mostly) to the list when going to the supermarket, I just don't plan it 100% or calculate the exact cost.

😁

For some people, it's a new idea but as time passes it becomes a habit. It is so easy to be enticed by pretty packaging, so called "deals", and buy-one-get-one-free offers or buy 25% more (than you'll ever need or use)! 😂
