Hello Everyone,

Welcome to Saturday Savers Club with Susie Saver.

Okay, okay, who won the SPI?

We had four great entries to the SPI savings challenge!

1st Quarter Progress Report by @justclickindiva
Newbie After 3 Months on the Blockchain by @bearmol
Saturday Savers Club Challenge and Goal Progress by @jfang003
Savings Challenge: A Cent More a Day by @alexvan

Four great posts with different strategies for saving and lots to learn from. We also had this post by @shanibeer, but she's not entering the challenge as she's the sponsor 😁 (it's also very weird writing about yourself in the third person).

The SPI have been shared between the four entries with @jfang003 getting 2 SPI and everyone else getting 1 SPI.

Thank you to everyone who took part - look out for our next saving challenge!

Now then - this week's EDS winners!

Every week, you have the chance to win EDS tokens for commenting. Last week we had comments from @alexvan @gillianpearce @ericburgoyne @solymi @bearmol @no-advice @justclickindiva, @missaj, @fruityfruitz, @erikah, @dkid14 @jfang003 and @preparedwombat.

Okay, everyone who commented last week went into the WheelofNames and two winners came out: @fruityfruitz and @justclickindiva - yay!

- Congratulations!

Check your Hive Engine wallets Saturday Savers!

Thank you for taking part in Saturday Savers Club, everyone!

What's been happening in your world this week? anything exciting or fun? Tell us in the comments - you could win some EDS tokens 😁.

More about EDS tokens

EDS tokens are a low-risk income token, ideal for people who want to save. There were only 20,000 originally and they were all sold at 1 Hive each, with guaranteed earnings of 12% each year. You can now acquire EDS tokens through the EDS Miner token.

Earnings come from powering up and leasing out the Hive that came from selling the tokens, plus earnings from posts and comments each week. EDS pays out every Monday evening: last week the pay out was equivalent to 20%.

Back to business ...

We're going to be here every Saturday through the year growing a little savings honey pot, if you have plans for saving or getting to a different place this time next year - maybe $5 Hive by the end of the year 🤑?

Whatever it is, stick with Susie Saver through the year and we'll get there. Along the way, we'll share lots of tips and tricks for saving and how to get the knack of making your money work for you and not the other way round.

Let's Get Started

We're using the 365 Penny A Day Challenge framework for the Saturday Savers Club. We're aiming to save £667 worth of pennies by the end of the year.

Penny a Day Tracker Sheet

Right click on the image, save it to your computer and then print it out.

Okay, let's check in ...

1. Check Progress

Each week, we're going to check in through this post and see where we are up to. Our target for today, 10th April, was 6.79p. Next week, we'll be saving 7.28p and by Saturday we'll have savings of 57.81p (look how that is growing)!

Each week, I'll be buying Hive for @susie-saver's account with the pennies we've saved.

Here's this week's results - 6.79p buys 9.74 Hive.
154 Hive saved in 15 weeks! Plus we're earning 3.22% inflation on powered up Hive. Let's see what @susie-saver's investments will bring!

@susie-saver hit her goal of owning and staking 5 EDSM this week, in addition to her 50 EDS. She's powered up the rest of this week's savings bringing her account to 54.565HP. What do you think her next savings investment should be?

How much did you save this week? Did you meet your target? Or did you save even more?

Being accountable to another person or a group is a great way to motivate yourself to save (or anything you want to achieve). Of course, you need the right kind of people around you - ones that think what you're trying to do is worth doing ... or at least fun 😁.

Sign up here with us to start your savings journey:

  • just leave a comment below if you want to join the challenge.
  • follow @eddie-earner so you never miss a post (Eddie has lots of ideas about how to make money - he's the earner, I'm the saver - you'll like his posts).
  • share this post if you think your followers might be interested.

2. The Golden Pig Tip

saturday savers club.jpg

Image by 3D Animation Production Company from Pixabay

Every week, we're going to share a Golden Pig Tip for saving. By the time you've tried them all you'll have £670 saved.

This Week's Golden Pig Tip

This week's tip is about other ways to use the Penny a Day Tracker sheet above. We've started with day 1 = 1 penny, but here are two other ways (that's right, two tips this week) you could do it:

Tip No 1: start with the highest total first and work backwards so that on day 365, you save just 1 penny! This works well if you start in January and you're worried about saving large amounts in December when there are other expenses.

Tip No 2: print out the tracker sheet and each day choose the amount you are going to save and cross it off on your sheet. This way you can choose larger payments when you have more money, and smaller payments when you have less.

What do you think about these ideas? Would they work for you? Or are you better with the boiling frogs in cold water approach (start small and before you know where you are, you're saving big) 😁.

And today is always a good day to start saving - you can start on Day 1 or make up the first fifteen weeks to catch up with @susie-saver.

That's it for this week. Hope you've enjoyed it and look forward to seeing you next Saturday with progress so far and our next Golden Pig tip.

@eddie-earner content contributed by @silverstackeruk and @shanibeer.

By the way. I just learned that you are 🙎🏼‍♀️. I always thought you were 🧔. Good to know and sorry to fall victim to stereotypes

Hehe - depends who you mean - @shanibeer is a woman, that is the case, and @susie-saver is one of my alts; but writing on the @eddie-earner account can be confusing, could cause multiple personalities!

I definitely mean @shanibeer as we are in contact on Discord for quite a while and I never even thought about the possibility that you are female. Sorry for that and have a Glas of !WINE for the Saturday evening.
I really hope that some time the spinvest group could meet up during a Steem fest. Maybe @silverstackeruk will host a f2f meeting if we hit 1 Million in assets? Could go faster as Corona is leaving 😂

What changed? The wine is very welcome, I have one here to start my Saturday evening.

We are planning an event in the UK in September, we don't have a definite date yet although I have suggested early in the month. I hope it will be at @c0ff33a's place - there's lots of space. Leeds Bradford is the nearest international airport. There are several budget hotels nearby in the city centre or a bit further out if you like countryside :)

This sounds very nice and if possible from the country travel restrictions, I will definitely join.
Nothing changed, just wondering how less I know of you...

I had a good week, thanks. Had to do some planning so it was a bit busy but I managed to get some stuff done. Also got the chance to enjoy some outdoor activities with my boys.
How has it been/was for you?

Glad you were able to get outside 🙂.
Me, I was catching up with house and personal chores. I bought a new phone, too, but have to wait for the sim card. I'm enjoying playing with the camera, though hehe.

Its always a pleasure to read the tips you give :) I have a different approach on savings since I have a fixed amount I put in different investment types. EDSM has also become part of my plans and I already bought 26 of them and planning to add at least one EDSM per week.

Hello @solymi A good choice of adding the EDS Miner. I've done so too. I don't have as much as you, but plan to add more. No matter the type of savings, as long as something is saved. Nice to meet you. Take care and have a good weekend.

Yes, I have a similar approach: I set my budget and then buy each week.
Good stack of EDSMs already! Which other investments have you chosen?

Thanks for the SPI tokens and I didn't have any SPI before this. So now SPI has another unique holder.

Oh that tip on saving backwards is quite nice. Maybe I'll try it after my current 365 day challenge is over so that things are different. It would be quite interesting to see how things play out if I were to use that method.

Hello @jfang003 Congratulations on your win in the SPI Challenge. You know I was thinking after I wrote my comment above that it may be something I'd consider after my 365 days of the challenge. I'll decide by then when I can clearly see how much I'd need to invest.

Have a good weekend.

Hello @eddie-earner Hope you've had a good week. I know I have. I woke to find I'd won 1 SPI and 1 EDS from participating with the Saturday Savers Club. How awesome. Thank you for including me as a winner in the SPI Savings Challenge. Also, I appreciate the 1 EDS for my participation in the weekly comments and win in the WheelofNames. I've been lucky this week.

Why? Because I completed 100 DAYS OF SAVING with the Saturday Savers Club. Below is my post outlining my 15th week:

https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@justclickindiva/celebrating-100-days-of-saving-during-week-15-participation-in-the-or-saturday-savers-club

Also, congratulations to the the following:
@jfang003 for your top win in the SPI Savings Challenge.
@fruity-fruitz on your winning with me in the WheelofNames.
We're off to a good start for next week.

I'd also like to mention all participants in the Saturday Savers Club. You ROCK! and keep on saving.

This Week's Golden Pig Tip. What an interesting take of the savings plan to start large and work backwards. It sounds doable. However, I like the old fashioned way. Start small with the 1cent; 2cents; 3cents; etc. and work my way up. I'm not saying either way is the best one. It's just my preference. I never like to place all my savings eggs in one basket all at once.

Take care everyone until next week.

One hundred days of saving! That sounds so momentous! Congratulations 🙂.
I was fascinated by the backwards saving idea, but I wonder if it would work as well (imagine: 100 days of saving backwards) 😂. We need some testers to try it out in the future.

Hello @shanibeer Thank you so much for your encouragement and support during my time at Saturday Savers Club and through my 100 days.

Also, I believe one other Saturday Saver participants indicated a willingness to try it. I may do so too, but maybe on a smaller scale, say for instance a 100 days backwards. That would be an added task keeping up with it all.

IDEA

I love contests and challenges.

Why not I test it right now after my 100 days.

Save 100 days backwards, starting tomorrow on Week 16.

Would I start at .99cents since I saved 1.00 today?

That sounds brilliant! I could launch it next Saturday - 100 days of saving backwards! Let me think of a prize (as well as the little nest egg they will have saved)!

But start tomorrow. don't let me stop you, it would be so interesting to hear your reaction to saving backwards.

It took me from January 1 - April 10. Today was the 100th day. so approx. 3 1/2 months to complete.

I'd like to start tomorrow.

To break up the amount being saved. I can alternate.

100 days forward. COMPLETED

100 days backwards - starting tomorrow

100 days forward again - start after completion of backward somewhere around mid to end July.

Congratulations to this week's winners. Thanks for the SPI @eddie-earner @shanibeer. To date I’m up to 325HP but I still haven’t crossed the 60 reputation mark. I hear that the higher up you go, the harder it is to improve your reputation. I’m hoping to get there by next Saturday. I also have 1EDS.
I think that I’m getting great value from joining the Saturday Savers Club. I’m learning a lot by following the conversations.

325 Hive is very impressive - you're doing great!
Yes, the higher you go, reputation-wise, the harder it gets, but slowly does it 😍.
Glad you're getting value the Saturday Savers Club, makes me happy 🙂

March is the end of the financial year and is one of the toughest months. I have been putting things in place to get the ball rolling to meet my goals , saving to go home , investing in some more crypto and putting a little something for old age. The Saturday saver’s club tips have been quite enlightening. Keep up the good work!

Hello @missaj 🙂 That all sounds good - preparation and planning is often key to success! It sounds like you have a good set of goals, too, so you are well set up 😍.
Glad the tips are useful!

Last week I failed to buy my dollar cost averaged bitcoin. I put in a buy order that wasn't filled and I found myself chasing dips and then it shot out of my league. Not the point of dollar cost averaging I know but at least I'm trying. 😂

The previous week it took me until the Wednesday to buy but at least I got some.
