These Are Not Protests

When the country has it's economy on it's knees this is the last thing we need to be seeing. The Rand took a dip today which is not surprising as this is all negative news.

Last week we saw the Former president of South Africa Jacob Zuma jailed for contempt of court for a period of what is thought to be 15 months. Obviously this hasn't gone down too well with the Zuma fan club and have used it as an excuse to go on a rampant stealing and looting party across the country.

I think what the majority of ANC supporters thought was that nothing was ever going to happen to him as in the past the ANC was used to only fighting Apartheid. They have never had to turn on themselves and this is the first real blow dealt by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Over the weekend and today we have seen violence spreading across the country which is just an excuse to enrich yourselves through criminal activity. What I find worrying is the lack of law and order with little or no policing going on right now. The economy is already in the gutter and by burning down shops and infrastructure many more jobs will disappear.

Watching this shit play out on Social media is not exactly a fun watch to see and obviously you have to question whether you want to be part of a country that acts and behaves like this. If I was an investor I would certainly be pulling my money out as this economy is just too unstable and irrational in every sense.

I think the most disturbing thing to witness is the lack of silence by the so called leaders of the country. Jacob Zuma was a corrupt President and this should have been dealt with a lot sooner than what we are seeing now. The Gupta brothers who are also part of the same enquiry into State Capture are now on the Interpol Red Alert.

The country has been on a steady downward spiral with the economy sinking to new lows. This is no quick fix and with unemployment out of control this situation here is going from bad to worse. This is more like self destruction and something needs to be addressed very quickly.

I just am flabbergasted that the people can think that this type of behavior is acceptable and the ramifications are far bigger than just Zuma who didn't give a damn about his people. With unemployment sitting at 50 percent is bad enough yet that figure can get far worse if this continues over the coming weeks.

Be safe out there. This is really sad to hear. What possible benefits could there be fighting for a corrupt leader? Well...maybe that's a naïve question

None. But what is interesting that this is the first time the ANC party is turning on their own members. Up until now you don't attack your own brothers no matter what you have done and this is the first time we are seeing this. No wonder corruption has been such a big issue as they honestly thought they could get away with it. Tonight the ARMY has been deployed finally so am hoping it stabilizes over the coming week.

So sorry to hear things are getting worse in South Africa. Mob mentality is a scary thing when people loose hope.

I hope the army helps rather than making things worse. Look after yourself and your loved ones.

Mob mentality is the worst kind and living in Africa thought I had seen it all. The last time things got bad we left and this time I am not there yet. Maybe I should have kept the house in Sussex after all lol.

Where did you live in Sussex? I'm currently living in Hove, although I lived in Durban for a year a very long time ago. 😁

Yikes, that is horrible. Hopefully it is not too bad near where you are living. I bet you would be out of there in a heartbeat if your business wasn't so established. Is that something you can easily move one day?

Not so sure right now and depending on how bad things get would restart my business somewhere else. This is something that may have to happen and will discuss with my business partner later this week. Things are not looking great here right now so relocating and starting a new factory may not be a bad idea. I have been giving this some serious thought as I don't even know if our factory is still standing tonight.

It's not about Zuma, not at all. This was orchestrated, no other way around it.

Durban got hit pretty hard, are you guys ok?

Definitely planned to destabalise the Government and try and get rid of Ramaphosa. This was no random attacks as too many facilities were hit. Can't believe they even stole blood from the Blood Bank. This was designed to create chaos.
Our factory survived and will be back running maybe by weekend or next week and all ok here thanks. Food is a little scarce but have plenty stocked up and had to go hunting this morning even though I have Covid but wearing 2 masks lol. Family and friends in Durban North have been busy as they have 1 shop that was open today for food supplies so you can imagine the chaos.
