Making Things Right

Nothing worse than a disorganized warehouse as you just can never get it right unless you take the time to fix it before it is too late. We have 3 months before we hit the seasonal period and the delivery of containers start to increase.

Sometimes you have to do things you don't really want to do, but just know you have to. To fill you in things are going very well in the family business besides the warehouse as like many businesses that grow they grow too quickly leaving the back end to catch up. So many businesses I know have failed due to this as you need to manage success by planning properly.

The current warehouse I organised for them 2 years ago has sort of out grown itself and needs to be properly organised. Systems that were able to run with much smaller orders are now failing as the way they were used and set up were just poorly thought out. Having an online business is way different than having a normal business as live stock is exactly that as it is live.

I have just walked in the door and grabbed a cup of coffee after a 16 hour day and I am really hoping by this time on Thursday night everything will have been fixed. The poor guy running the warehouse is stressing and he has so many people interfering from head office. This is not something I ever experienced as I told them two words one starting with F and the other O. I will be talking to them tomorrow as interfering and criticizing is not acceptable unless it is constructive.

The ware house is not bursting at the seams just yet but looking at the delivery forecast they have 32 containers over the next 10 working days which doesn't help. I will be using all my experience to delay those so they can catch a breath whilst we relay the entire floor which is what is happening this week. Space is at a premium and I have been looking for alternative plans.

As an online business you can think differently and my plan is to acquire an old office block next door that is vacant. The agents or landlords think it will remain vacant for years as offices are not in high demand plus these are dated. The plan is to use each office as a mini storage area for the smaller items so it should simplify the picking of items. I will get the space for next to nothing (close to being free) and will allow them to stay in the warehouse possibly for another year or two before they outgrow it. I thought about this idea a couple of years ago for smaller companies looking for an online presence as office blocks are ideal for for this and could lump 20 or 30 companies into one building with one company dispatching as orders arrive.

I hate to be the one to have to help to fix things as it should never ever get to this point. Buyers and office personnel have no clue what happens after they place orders as there job is basically done up to that point but I only see it as doing half a job on their part. When I ran the bicycle plant for them I performed miracles and this should never be the case as they need to think. Nothing has changed after all these years and they need to know this. Some things just never change and there is a poor bugger trying to do what I did many years ago spinning in stress and why I am helping as he cannot fail and won't let him.

I will teach him and starting tomorrow they will not be allowed to interfere. I don't get called in to help working these long days for others to mess things up.

Most brick and mortar real estate is going cheap now. I have never dealt in real estates but did hear of the deals on the market when Greece collapsed. That was when I first started in crypto. You are very lucky you work at a thriving industry. On line orders will keep many afloat as things look more and more bleak. All the best.

Thanks but it is not really my business and helping the family out, but yes they moved into online at the right time. I have seen so much hardship in the marketplace already and can only see things deteriorating as there is literally no money around. I think you have positioned yourself well in crypto and I am still new but learning every day regarding what is a good trade and what to look for.

There is a tire place in the city where I used to live and they did something really similar. They ran out of space in their main location, so they bought the vacant Pizza Hut right next door and they now use the building to store their inventory in. It seems like a smart plan to me.
