Over time, we realize how everything around us is constantly evolving, not only in technological innovations but also in our customs. It is our nature to change and always look for a way to adapt to the reality that time gives us. Taking the matter to the financial issue, we have known for a long time that the printed money we know is practically with its days numbered.

While central banks around the world print more and more money to fuel their rampant inflation, in Brazil, for example, a new note of 200 reais was launched to enter circulation to try to circumvent the economy that is already weakened. Well, they are the weapons that governments have to reduce their crises.

The paper money that was very fundamental for generations today is being threatened, but those who imagine that digital currencies are responsible for this are mistaken, despite the fact that they are slowly gaining space in the world of finance but are gradually gaining more interest from large companies, but there are other reasons.

In Brazil, a survey was carried out by Visa, one of the largest and most important companies in the field of digital payments, found that 78% of Brazilians stopped using paper money this year 2020. It is certainly a very significant number, but that this due to Covid-19.

With the launch of PIX, a platform for instant payments created by the Central Bank of Brazil that will soon be launched, people will prefer to use its system. Remembering that PIX has nothing to do with blockchain technology and its use will be centralized, that is, controlled by the bank.

Curiously, since I left home for a long time, I always try to take my card to make my debit or credit purchases, but because of this pandemic and with social isolation, the abandonment of circulating the money started to be reduced and research only proves what is already happening.

Nowadays it is much easier to make any type of purchase online, in addition to mentioning that it is much faster and safer. It is natural for people to migrate to this type of payment. In the not-too-distant future, we will have our own national digital currency among many countries and the agenda has been discussed for a long time at its meetings. It is evident that sooner or later we will have partial or total extinction of the money.

One of the challenges I see so that not only Brazil, but worldwide, is whether people between the elderly and some young people will be prepared to start using these new payment methods. Well, time will tell but as we like these types of challenges I have no doubt that we will be able to adapt.
