Digital dollar? Recent research reveals that Americans are against this idea

With each passing day we realize how much the technologies are advancing and obviously the financial sector must not be left behind. Through blockchain technology that is here to stay, central banks in response to imposing themselves in the face of decentralization as we know it are planning, together with their nations, the implementation of a national digital currency called CBDC.

It is natural that in the not-so-distant future that printed money may cease to exist and that is why the CBDC will be the alternative for central bankers. China is very advanced with this experiment and in some provinces of its country its use already happens. But on the other hand we have some countries like the United States that are not aligned with the same thinking when it comes to a possible digital currency for the dollar.

It was by Genesis Mining, a mining company in BTC that organized a survey to find out what the American people think of this idea. If we compare the United States with some South American countries, we will know that they are more aware of what happens in their country's economy. The vast majority of Americans know that something must be done about the country's financial situation, but of the 400 respondents about 25% support the idea of the digital dollar.

We know that anything that has the government or the bank as the controller, things should not go out in a positive way. The centralization that they want to adopt will be something that will not be accepted by the people no matter how much the country makes its planning count. Blockchain on the other hand has immutability, transparency, security and speed. It will be practically impossible for any nation to do with its national digital currency. That is why more and more companies are joining the blockchain as it will be the technology of the future that as we know is already giving its results.

A curiosity that was already expected is that about 85% of respondents had some knowledge about cryptocurrencies and were very comfortable with this subject. There are still people who are influenced by the media who associate crypto with illegal practices. This is a point that must be tackled among the disaffected not only in the USA, but anywhere in the world. Over time, more people will understand that BTC and alts have no connection to any type of crime, especially about ponzi schemes.

What we can understand is that with this pandemic many things had to change and others started to have some thoughts. Social detachment has helped industry and technology sectors to make a big leap. Anyway, the CBDC, even with its implementation, will not be as accepted as the governments imagine.

When change is at the horizon the initial instinct is to reject it, but in this case I think the pushing for digital currency will solve many economic mechanism from our days. Not only that but it is just part of the evolution and the traditional payment instrument look more and more like prehistoric instruments.

He said everything, times are changing and we must always evolve together and many things that were common will become sideways and obsolete.

If you think of it this way we already have a “digital dollar”. Most use debit cards for daily transactions. Few use cash anymore including myself.

I also use little paper money lately. It is something natural that will become common over time for many people.

Yeah, you are right, a country like Nigeria where I come from this digital currency will be welcomed because even the idea of blockchain in this part of my country isn't welcomed and known by people. There are yet to see the future in blockchain and still see the blockchain as an illegal practice at such, even though during the period of lockdown, many got to know that blockchains weren't scammed or illegal but an avenue to make money and embarrace it but only few were able to see it as a thing coming into existence to stay for long and not some kind of doubios platform. I guess it will be hard to bring the digital currency into existence because it won't be accepted.

Unfortunately the media has long been presenting BTC and alts as illegal. But I believe that over time we will have a strong mass adhesion because that is the future. Everywhere we will have these changes and everything will be a matter of time.
