What constitutes a quality post on Leo Finance?

avatar

I've been struggling with a hard decision lately: I have a lot of things going on in my life right now, the amount of time left which I can afford to invest into Leo Finance is getting less and less and something has to give. Because I don't like dropping off the face of the planet ( digitally speaking ) I was thinking about announcing my retirement from long posts altogether and sticking to commenting which is less time consuming and more versatile (meaning I can comment less if I don't have the time).

"But why retire when you can simply post less often ?" I hear you ask. Well, I already post about once a week on average and I think if you want to get people to notice you, you have to post more often and be consistent at it, both things that I can't accomplish at this point or in the foreseeable future.

"But why don't you write shorter posts ?" and so we get to the main topic of this post. Until now I have set a 500 words, 4-5 memes target for my posts because I wanted them to be considered quality posts. The problem is that kind of post can take between 2 and 4 hours to make (sometimes more) because: I make memes just for that post ( I don't recycle them), I try to make the text flow with the memes and also create a sort of TLDR version of the post just by looking at the memes. I might not always succeed in hitting those goals for each post but that's what I'm going for.

I didn't think about writing shorter posts until one of my favorite sugar daddies - trumpman - was amused that my self imposed quality standards prevent me from posting on Leo Finance. So what constitutes the minimum number of words that is considered adequate for a Leo Finance post? can that be around the 200 to 300 mark ? Because if I would drop the word count to those numbers and also make less memes ( around 2-3 ) I think I would be able to still be posting on Leo Finance.

That's why I need some feed back, because I don't want to appear as being lazy or like I'm trying to abuse the system. I'm just trying to figure out if shorter posts are acceptable here or if it's better if I just focus on commenting and leave the posting part to people who are meeting the quality criteria.

If the consensus is that 200 to 300 words posts constitute short form content and it's not appropriate for Leo Finance then you can consider this to be my retirement post and I'll see you in the comments :)

Ps: I'll still be posting my daily meme on memehub and in Leo market talk

For me, as long as there is a real content into your post, 200 words is enough. That might seem pretty short but if it's well made that can still be great, 300 is still probably better.

I totally understand you, I enjoy making long posts but sometimes that can be really time-consuming.

My last post (around 2000 words) took me hours to do, and this was really hard to keep focused all this time. And that was easier than when I do posts for leofinance because that was my opinion and my reflections, I was not sharing something I read where I would need to give exact information.

I believe in you, you are able to make your posts short without loosing too much quality !

I don't know but sometimes people use videos or pictures. So it will depend on whether or not it told the reader whatever you wanted to express. So I think it depends from post to post.

Hard to believe it is finally true that one can get on the interwebz and make money for the time you spend.
Now it is a prioritization game.

I don't really make finance posts, some economics, maybe, but not finance, so I never got into Leo.
POB seems to be gaining hype, but Leo serves as an example of what happens when the hype train runs out of steem.

It is really going to be important to seem inviting to newbs if we want to overcome our failure to thrive once launched.
Nobody, when I got here thought this would last 5 years.
I kinda figured it would, it makes sense to a lot of people.
Here we are.
But, not many of them then listened to me, and most that didn't have cashed out and/or left. (many sockpuppets, up to 1 million, or more)

Hive will be what we make of it.

In Leo's case there are a lot of projects that are running late and when they will eventually come out I think they will have a big impact on the ecosystem in general. There are a lot of improvements/tweaks that hive needs in order to thrive, but I believe our time will come. If a meme coin can do it so can we :)

I appreciate their contributions, I just don't create for their coins.

We are almost fine tuned.

Leofinance is a long form content site. What does that mean? Hard to say since it will differ for each person. That is why stake is so important and the determining factor. People can vote what they want.

To some a 200 or 300 word post is fine. To me, that is closer to a tweet. Of course, we really dont have that option on Leofinance other than @leomarkettalk.

That said, you are adding a meme which takes time to create and, from what I have seen, they are appropriate to the platform. In fact, some of what you are doing of late is a great help since it is something that can be tweeted out.

Quality is a subjective topic so it cant be answered by a consensus. Personally, I think there is a lot to be determined by intention and it is clear to me that you are dedicated and trying to assist Leofinance however you can.

I dont think that part can be overlooked. You are the last person that can be accused of trying to just scalp some rewards.

I don't think I deserve such high praise but I appreciate every word of it :) I didn't feel comfortable moving forward without the community and especially your feedback. And while things are very nuanced when it comes to posting I feel more confident now writing the kind of posts I feel are appropriate relative to the time I have and to the subject matter. So thank you again for the encouragements and explanations :)

"Quality post" "shit post" have continued to be a topic of discussion and will continue into the future the way I see it.

I wouldn't judge a quality post based on the amount of words quite frankly. One could be very precise with 100 words and get the message across and even end up having more response to the post.

Yes there are posts that are completely milking the system posts that has less quality all over it but I feel we are focusing too much on what is a quality post and not.
Everyone isn't the same in terms of writing and expressing themselves, some go the brief way while others excel in long form.

The likes of Facebook having users that are so hooked and would refuse to live Facebook for Hive/Leofinance even if you tell them they get rewarded is because they can post whatever they feel without being told it quality or shit post.

If it's a shit post fucking ignore or use downvotes if you may and if if its a quality one engaged a react accordingly if you may.

Quality or shit post, we need users on this chain.

(Edited)

Even on Facebook I didn't just post whatever ( I haven't posted anything for 4 years ) I posted things that I felt represented who I am. Here is the same, I want my post to give a glimpse into the crypto world the way I see it: with all it's hilarious craziness, awesomeness and sometimes stupidity. My only limiting factor is time, that's why I was thinking of changing the format a little bit. Receiving downvotes would bum me out a lot and I wouldn't continue posting because I put a lot of work into trying to make people smile.
And I appreciate you feedback by the way, it means a lot :)

I know the feeling of getting your posts downvoted. Preparing my Leofinance posts takes me about 2-3 hours. I am able to be consistent lately because I have been home for 2 months now with employment.

A project or two is coming my way probably next week and that's definitely going to keep me almost quiet here for a while.

I will only be able to curate a post my Actifit report. I'm in a similar situation like you I guess.

Cheers

Unless it's sharing a link of interest to people here, I think it's safe to say that a quality post on LeoFinance has to be longer than a tweet. Word count shouldn't be a concern as long as it's on topic.

Don't make a 1000-word post about Scrabble strategies or visits to the proctologist.

150-word posts about "the next Dogecoin" and its anticipated moonshot are OK-- after all, they would be about crypto, the shitcoin niche of altcoins, and finance.

For many people, finance is such a serious topic it can feel like a heart attack. We know that the world of crypto is a high-risk world, and a sense of humor is one thing that can help us regain perspective on why we're in it.

Serious content about finance and crypto will always be with us. As long as content is relevant, humor and memes have their places here. Various writing styles and writing philosophies are needed and should be encouraged.

Keep up what you've been doing as time and life permit. Don't feel tied to a ball and chain to post here, but make sure what you post here counts. From what I've seen here, you get 2 thumbs up from many peopl here. I give you 2 thumbs up too. :)
