Will Most Hive Communities Bee Abandoned When Project Blank Launches? (Yes)

This is something I've thought long and hard about. But, I thought long and hard about this 3 years ago when I joined steemit.

I understood as soon as a joined the "Mediumesque" platform that it was destined for different. Forget about the community and the flag wars. Those, while not totally irrelevant, are totally irrelevant.

I've been part of platform building since around 2008 and I remember when microblogging was evolving and how hard it was to wrap my head around it. In fact, I had to teach the influencers of the day what it was and why it was their future.

Let's put it this way. By now, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and others have trained people how to produce, share & consume content. And that content is short-form content.

Love it or hate it, it is the truth and the truth doesn't care how you feel about it. Short form content has been "the past" for at least 5 years, is the present and will be the future.

It doesn't mean there isn't a place for blogging, but it is technically a niche product. The interesting thing about Project Blank is that it won't be limited to 140 characters and will have a place for other types of content (I think). And, if that is true then game over.

I remember the day share2steem came out as I was trying to lead a project to do the same. I thought it was the ticket to critcal mass and adoption. I thought it was the "killer" app. But, the community felt like it was an abuse of the rewards pool and couldn't see the forest through the trees.

I totally get that. I would have taken a responsible community to get it beyond the abuse of rewards but the marketing potential to Instagram influencers was insane. It would have just take a little more work than people were willing to do.

I suppose there are so many new people here that they probably don't even know what share2steem was. It was a dapp that allowed you to connect your Instagram account to the steem blockchain and automatically share your instagram posts to steemit.

It was an easy way to collect rewards but it was a better way to show the general public how to monetize their social media. There were a couple of other apps that were similar and I can't remember their names at the moment but they also fell short.

Project Blank is different. It is well thought out, leadership driven and will be transparent. There will be a place for everyone and creating and sharing content will be easy.

One of things that has always bugged me about the steemit concept was that interactions was seldom and slow. The only way to get information about the blockchain was to off the blockchain to discord to talk about the blockchain.

It made no sense to me. I remembe when Facebook made the concerted effort to build more tools so that people could do just about everything on Facebook without ever leaving Facebook. That was the whole point and they came close for awhile.

So will Project Blank replace discord for us? It should.
Will Project Blank replace tribes? It Should.

It's a sad thought to think tribes would be hurt by this but if you think it through you will realize that they will shrink but become more focused. People that have things to write about will wright about them but most of the "talking about the platform" will be done on Project Blank.

Will it cut into the amount of content on LeoFinance? Yes!
but that's fine. We will be talking about LeoFinance right there on Project Blank.

How do I know all this? Well because it's human nature. We are all looking for the easy way. And Project Blank is going to be easy.

I think that Noise.Cash has helped clarify all of this for me. I only went on there to figure out how blockchain microblogging would work. The truth is, noise isn't even a blockchain but people think it is. You just get paid for your thoughts in BCH.

But, what I've noticed is that is super easy to engage with your commenters on Noise. It's far easier to engage with LeoFinance people on Noise than it is on Leofinance or any tribe or community.

So Project Blank is gonna be awesome and I really think it's going to take a bite out of Hive as we know we it but we should all be ecstatic because if you are reading this you are going to be an early adopter. We can all say we were there at the beginning!

All true. I still feel like blogging, no matter how much I'll tweet on Leofinance.

What I look forward to is a notification system that will notify when a reply is received, like ginabot does/did....

The question is: can I run this on my phone or desktop natively independent of any websites or other "middlemen"? This is very important and essential for both privacy and security, and being censorship resistant. I practically only use ecency for these reason alone.
