Second Quarter Investment Update

Back in February I made the decision that I was going to start making some additional recurring investments into my crypto portfolio. This isn't a new concept to me, Hive is something I invest in every day, but up until now I hadn't actually taken that next step.

Sure, I would buy some BTC or some other token here and there, but I never made the commitment to to habitually invest in something else. My thinking was that if I invest say $100 per month, eventually I will not even miss that $100. It will just become another expense as part of my regular budget.

Ideally, I would have started this practice back during the bear market, but I am stubborn, so it took me until the first big push of the bull market to get started. I admit, this was probably not the best time to get started investing like this. It all adds up in the end, and now that prices have receded a bit, I am glad that I took the leap.

As much as I can't stand Coinbase sometimes, they make it very easy to setup recurring buys. Like I said, I decided that $100 a month would be a good place to start. I figure if I split that five ways I could then purchase $20 of some random token each month.

We all know that Coinbase likes their fees, so I feel like I should mention that my $20 purchase actually equals about $18.50 after the $1.50 transaction fee.

Here is what I have invested in and how it has grown...

REN

The correction hasn't been very kind to me on this one. I am down about $50 right now.

COSMOS (ATOM)

PurchasedFebMarchAprilMayJune
.9307.9888.82921.24911.9195

This one has been a little kinder to me. I am only down about $30 currently. I like the fact that I get rewards from COSMOS simply for holding it. There are a couple other tokens that offer similar rewards that I am investing in.

Stellar Lumens

PurchasedFebMarchAprilMayJune
41.933248.601536.600242.707876.2723

Stellar Lumens has been a long time favorite of mine. It just a really easy token to buy and hold. I actually got my first bit of XLM as part of an airdrop from Keybase. I know that several banks and governments have been looking at Stellar as a base for their potential digital currencies, so it seemed like a smart buy to me.

TEZOS

PurchasedFebMarchAprilMayJune
5.04344.46113.46434.54057.3269

XTZ is another one of those tokens that pays you a dividend simply for holding the token. Like XLM, I had already invested in XTZ before I started my recurring buys. That makes it difficult to figure out what my ROI is without doing some maths and it is too early in the morning for maths right now.

Algorand

PurchasedFebMarchAprilMayJune

Sorry, I know this is starting to sound like a broken record, but ALGO is another one that I was already investing in. It actually pays a daily dividend simply for holding the token, so there is a lot to love there. I know @cryptictruth is or was a fan of ALGO. There is a lot to like here.

As I started learning more about other tokens and I wasn't missing that $100 each month anymore I decided to branch out a bit.

Cardano

Yeah, I jumped on the ADA bandwagon and decided to pick some up. I know there are a lot of haters out there, but this is simply an investment thing. I am currently only down about $2 so it hasn't been entirely horrible for me.

Polygon (MATIC)

PurchasedFebMarchAprilMayJune

I just recently started getting into MATIC after reading some of the stuff on the Leo Finance Discord server. There is a lot to like there even though it can be slow at times and there isn't quite the volume yet that we see over on BSC and ETH. At just over a dollar right now it is literally a steal I think. Think about where BNB started and where it is now. Nuff said!

So there you go, that is a quick rundown of the recurring investments I stared about four months ago. It has been awesome watching my holdings slowly grow and fingers crossed if even one of these happens to moon or just reach orbit I should be a happy man!

The power of dollar cost averaging, you buy more when its cheap. I like your choice of crypto too seems quite diverse.

Thanks, I appreciate that. I should have started doing this a long time ago. I feel like I am behind the curve now, but you have to start sometime right?

I don't even know some of these projects. How did you find out about them? From people's post?

Some of them. Some of them were part of the Coinbase Earn program so I already was holding a small bit of the tokens. I tried to look for lower priced tokens that I could buy a decent amount with for $20 but that still had potential to grow or earn for me.

Good pickups for a DCA strategy! Keep at this and you'll be pretty pumped come next bull run. For me I'll undertake a similar plan starting early 2022 and build up for the next run.

Yeah, I feel like the once a month plan might be hurting me in the long run, but I just needed something I can kind of set and forget you know. Once it becomes a habit I won't miss it.

Matic and Algo have become a core holding as I buy more in each dip.

They are just smart plays in my opinion.

I was thinking about setting this up on coinbase as well. Haven't done it yet. Maybe today is a good day. I have an account and even bought and hold crypto there through them. Just no recurring purchases. hmmmm... Algo, Matic and Stellar all seem like wise investments to me. I made a small ton off Cardano and BAT when things got real nice. Then lost most of that gain when I transferred those gains into ETH. ☹️

Ouch, that sucks. I think ATOM Is pretty good too, but the cost to buy in is higher. Anything that provides a passive income no matter how small is always a plus for me. It was really easy to get the recurring buys set up. We will see what the future holds for them!
