Postage Due Stamp - Hippopotamus (Rhinoceros) - Prehistoric rock engravings in the Tibesti Mountains - Republic of Chad 1962 - Michel TD P23 - my hobby.

Greetings friends!

Collecting postage stamps is a good incentive to learn about the world we live in, geography, history and economics.

Sometimes, when you want to know a lot about a postage stamp, along with the answers to your questions, many new questions come up.

In the description of this stamps you will see question marks, which, for now, for me, remain open questions.

But, first of all, I want to say that it was no coincidence that I chose for my next story a series of stamps of the Republic of Chad.

I do not know much about this country, or rather they say, I knew little, before I got into these stamps, which, you cannot, simply, be called postage stamps.

It was impossible to buy this stamp and send a letter with its help, here, a slightly different scheme.

These stamps are called postage stamps. If your pocket is empty, but you really need to send a letter, then such a stamp was glued to the envelope. as an indication of the amount paid by the recipient of the letter.

But, even here, not everything is so simple.

These stamps were used only for business purposes, when a small office that did not have cash wanted to send a letter to the ministry, or, in another, government agency.

For ordinary people, these brands were not available.

So why did I choose the Republic of Chad brand series?

The fact is that Chad, like my homeland, Moldova, is surrounded by neighbors and does not have, did not have, access to the sea.

And the country largely depended on the goodwill of its neighbors.

The Republic of Chad has suffered many upheavals, the government has changed like gloves.

Series Prehistoric rock engravings in the Tibesti Mountains, printed two years after the landmark event - independence.

Prior to this, Chad was a French colony.

I should note that the printing of these stamps is very high quality, considering the purposes for which this series of stamps was issued.

While researching this question, I could not find out the circulation of the issued stamps and the author-artist who drew them, it was too long ago, lol.

Another funny moment.

On the stamps, which you see below, there is a rock drawing of an animal, which, according to some experts, is a hypopotamus, while others think that it is a rhinoceros.

Indeed, although we do not see fate on the nose of this animal, the body shape is very similar to a rhinoceros.

So, I propose to look at a part of the financial system of the Republic of Chad.
