DCity - an economical outlook into socialism

Hi,

I'm a fan of the game brought to life by @gerber, called DCity. At the start it seems a very static and a very boring game.

Spoiler alert, it isn't. I've start playing it a little more serious in December where I develop different strategies on it and discover everyday something new to it as every little tweaking has an influence on the global scale of it.

In theory, if I wanted big ROI, I would need to snipe big income cards like the restaurant and fill them with luxury homes. That would give at least 300% ROI if the cards are snipped at the right time.

But as in real life, there are some other factors to take in account. There can be a big influx of population due to the high popularity which will cause the unemployment to rise, adding costs to the city.

There is crime that robs the ROI and there can appear also criminals in the city, which will burn the money.

A lot of variables, but there is one that busts the income the most, like in real life, the taxes.

At the moment the taxes close in to 70% and was set by @dreamm, the current president in an attempt to fight inflation. As we all investors in this game, we can call it a socialist tax as the ones who invest need to fight the burden of it.

It is not communism, as there taxes would be futile as everything is owned by the state. This is pure socialism where the productive population needs to pay out the unproductive one.

The winners on this cities would be the population generating ones as the population cards can be sold to almost the same price as before. Bringing kids in the world can bring in money.

In the discord people are outraged of not having their 300%/year anymore. Where this number is a huge compared to 99,(9)% of the available investment methods on the market. Now we are at 100% due to the taxes and people complain because of it, even if this again is a very good return. There are manufacturing industries running with 1-3% a year and this industries bring you food on the table. Imagine the markup on this ones.

Like said, this is a perfect simulation of socialism. We have this also in Western Europe and I don't see people complaining that much as in the discord of this game. Taxes have a very big impact on the business side and most companies can't develop and grow due to this. Also taxes affect the employees, where for example a top earner in Sweden pays 60%, something like in DCity and people accept it. I don't know why, but I have to pay also 42% in Germany and don't complain but try to find the loops to avoid this taxes, like in the game where are some good opportunities to keep a high ROI. This I will not disclose today, as I let the taxes eat the inflation for a while and enjoy the destruction caused by the DCity socialism.

If you play DCity, how do you feel about the taxes? How do you feel about the taxes where you live? What affects you more and where do you act more? And how is your view on socialism?

And as real socialism, the money from taxes doesn’t go back to the poors, 100% accurate.

Oh, I did not know the tax is burned. So the president gets nothing, right? Interesting!

Well, on the term of real life: I rode motorbike quite some time, rode bicycle then some years from resistance to weather conditions that I gained riding motorbike. When becoming a dad I rode with a bike trailer at first, yet since our usual distances increased, I drive car a lot. Well, we are slow travelers mostly. And we do not commute by car, for good reasons.

Now, when I realized how bad statist traffic management is, especially when it comes to cyclists and pedestrians, I found a rare but accurate answer to the usual 'tax is extortion' question: And who's gonna build the roads?! And this is: STOP BUILDING ROADS. Highways are like cancer. Yes, good roads are nice. But not in those oodles.

So yes, burning taxes in real live might be worth the experiment. !invest_vote !ENGAGE 10

traffic is easy this days :)

If taxes are used to improve the infrastructure and life, agree to them as we need healthcare, education, police, transport system, etc. If taxes are used to keep people employed to push papers or lazy ones on a living without problems, than no.

Well, I've been into healthcare, education, police, transport system, etc. enough to prove your perspective wrong. But I am not going to do this here and now, because that's the whole point when people push papers. My hint: read Hans-Hermann Hoppe and look into the Laurence J. Peter Principle. !ENGAGE 20 !invest_vote !WINE !BEER !JUICE !PUREWATER !FRESHAIR

The Peter Principle is something that is in the most cases true. In some cases I see incompetent people doing some damage and they get promoted further, some to stop the damage and some because they seem to be like the boss. Yes the idea is right, people are not promoted by criteria for the next job.

Hans-Hermann Hoppe has good ideas, where some are a little to extreme for my taste and views, but would probably work much more better than communism.

I've been short active in education as a side hustle when I was working for my PhD (which I did not complete) and left it as it was totally inefficient, and my parents work in healthcare and education, but have a main business in parallel. I'm not having experience, but I think it can be more efficient. What is your perspective on those? I'm curious.

Thank you!

I don't play any games on Hive, however if I were to play, this would be the one I would choose from the existing games.

I'd like to see the offer diversified as soon as possible though as it would help with mass adoption. People love games.

And of course I'd love the day to have 36 hours just for me so I can do everything I plan 😄

This needs 5 minutes a day for tweaking after it is setup. I see games in here as investments, not as games as I wouldn't play them without a decent ROI.

I noticed my rewards have went down quite enough. Not sure if I will ever recover the funds I put into it now. That is too bad. I enjoyed messing around with it. It was some good set it and forget it fun.

You will still double your investment in a year. That is better than most other investments I have made.

Let's hope so, we need the taxes to go down first!

Imho one of the biggest risks for investing into dcity is the hive price, it is however also one of the biggest upsides.

Yes, Hive price is the major risk factor, even if Hive was more of a pegged coin this months. Here I see that Hive will take off or at least double in price which will blow up the intended peg.

This measures have been brought to counter inflation, but this is still ongoing. It will be interesting to see if the next president will remove them and how it will affect the economy!

The tax directly affects SIM income. When the tax rate is low, SIM price in the market is close to or above 0.005 HIVE. And the card price in the market is high. Now the situation has been changed. So I think this is an opportunity to grab some cards at a low price. And anyone can buy SIM at this cheap rate.

I did stock up on some good cards from the 1st edition and probably will grab some more to increase my income as it is a good opportunity to have them.
