AskLeo - Have You Ever Donated Crypto To a Noble Cause?
Dealing with health issues is definitely stressful and sometimes costly, I had my share of those and probably many of us have had to deal with some sort of illness at some point. Luckily I haven't suffered for anything severe yet, but not all of us are so fortunate.
The case of John Zipay is a quite fortunate one, if one could put it that way. Although he battles with cancer at a quite early age he found that the crypto community on twitter is willing to help.
A DOGE millionaire has actually donated 50 ETH for the cause. That's fantastic and uplifting at the same time. This is what crypto has been created for. It's designed to empower people, to bank the unbanked sort to speak and to make true ownership possible.
I honestly wouldn't see any point in making tons of money if not helping others on the way. What's the point of owning that much wealth. Money loose value and can even get eaten by rats as in the case of Pablo Escobar.
Giving and the feeling of making a difference in someone's life is one of the best things in life imo. Quite a few around here(Leofinance/Hive) are doing that involuntarily through their curation on all sort of posts. Without such persons I couldn't afford to live off some internet activity you know... I tried and "spread the love further".
I haven't donated much crypto yet, but I always look at donating cash. After all, cash is meant to be spent. I have a poor neighbor and try and help him as much as I can with food and others. But to answer my own #askleo topic, whether I have ever donated crypto to a noble cause, the answer is yes.
A matter of fact about two weeks ago I donated 10 LEO to someone that wished to buy herself a laptop and thought I should give a helping hand. I have also donated some other time 50 LEO to a content curation support initiative and there have been some other cases where I donated HIVE to some users in need as well.
My only donations are HIVE/LEO related coming somehow from my everyday income and I'm happy to do that. I consider that taking without giving is against our human nature and that's why I try my best to give as much as possible. I find the crypto space to be very in tune with this sentiment.
There are definitely some trying to abuse generosity, much like in real life, but there's plenty of cases of real life suffering human beings that are being helped by crypto guys like you and I. What about you, have you ever donated crypto to a noble cause?
Thanks for attention,
Adrian

I don't have much yet, but I am getting into selling NFTs soon. And if I am able to sell and earn a small fortune, then I will donate to many of my favorite causes. Except that I would have to convert them to cash first to spare them the hassle of opening a wallet, unless they already have one. Cryptos are legal here in the Philippines, and we have some banks that are crypto-friendly. However, it is still a long way until we can see widespread adoption of it as a payment method.
Most of my donations are made in cash as well. I have donated crypto for a couple of times though.

There's a food bank on noise.cash, before they got rid of free tips I must have given them about 90% of my tips.

I don't use noisecash

This right there is nothing but the honest truth.
My fair share of giving have largely been outside the Cryptoverse. There have been a few times where I I've donated here though, and I will also never forget how 2 of my followers here helped me in a financial crisis I had two years ago.
Nice to hear that.

I donated a lot to @drutter. He set up a campaign to buy Edgar a water well in Venezuela..
That's nice. Feels good to read such stories.

I think the closest I've done to giving is delegating from my post payout. I look forward to doing more. To whom much is given, much is expected.
However, I think this year I've done well with giving gifts. So far...
That's good. Sharing the love further.

I do give to charity but not my crypto so only money up until now. Look if I had Billions in crypto then I wouldn't mind but at this point I need it to generate more and grow.

I get you.

What gets my goat is when charities misuse the funds they have.
