Hi!

This is a simple contest with a simple objective. Anyone from Hive is welcome and I hope this will be a good start for you to come in proofofbrain and engage with this community.

Sometimes, I find it hard to focus and always look for a solution to do things effectively.
I have found different ways by now and I always try to identify that 0 points of energy that is dragging me down while not being able to focus on my tasks. From there, it's pretty much simple. Either I need sleep, food, a social relaxing meeting, listening to some music, or making a better-structured plan of what I need to do. I have written some articles on that here over the past few weeks also.

Now, it's your turn to tell us which micro-step helps you get back on track when you struggle to focus.

I can offer 75 POBs, for now, 25 POBs to 3 people that will offer their responses.

During the next 3 days, starting today, until 29, which is not included, I am looking forward to reading your answers!

Does narrowing your to-do list down to only your top priorities help you focus on what you need to get done? Or does writing your intention down in the morning help you stay productive during the workday?
Do you find that stepping away from your work and taking a breather helps you re-approach your projects with a new perspective? Or that taking frequent breaks throughout the day to do something creative and fun helps you hone in on your tasks when you get back to your desk?
Tell me about the little strategies that help you stay focused when you’re struggling.

With friendship and respect,
@regenerette

I like it when people are on Time! Doesn't matter where they have to be.
I'm glad you were the 1st to comment.
Thank you for engaging and let's see the results these days!

At the moment i struggle to keep focus a lot - times are pretty challenging at the moment with a lot happening in private life, job, society, health, family, blockchain, my communities, my games, my life. If there is anyone to give me advise - let me know :-).

I know though that is a difficult task as you would have to sit besides me and analyse me and my way of prioritizing things.

I find that my ability to focus is higher in the morning and goes down as the day comes to a close. Also, the longer I focus on one thing, the more it drains me. So taking a break, or getting some rest/sleeping 😴 is a good way to renew my energy and my focus.

It's the same for me. Morning is the most productive because I can focus better. But some of them have a slow start. In those cases, music is a great booster for my energy and focus.
It's good that you can detach from specific content your mind is running and take a break and do something else. Dissociation is a skill. Bravo!

I agree music is great for things like exercise. However for other things like tasks that require concentration, for some people music will become the focus and it eventually becomes a distraction.

I try to take some breaks while I listen to music, play a game or chat with a friend. Knowing that I have a deadline, usually boosts my focus and makes me more able to appropriately organize my time. There are days when I decide to do nothing at all and others when I am fully loaded. I don't stress with it, knowing that relaxation is an important step through a great focus.

That adrenaline that shows up when we have a deadline...I know it pretty well! Or just procrastinate and/or relax and enjoy that "la dolce far niente"...with no worries and just peace around me and inside of myself.
Thank you for reading and offering us this insight into your life!

For me it's knowing that multitasking is a lie, it's just rapid switching between tasks and that is going to create inefficiencies so I focus on one task to completion, often with some music that has no words in it to try and remove additional distractions.

Excellent! Music also helps me focus more each time.
Removing any perturbatory factors around, that is a blessing....I can hardly do that with the environment I live in. But we work for a certain working discipline here.

Well it depends on my schedule for that day, there are moments whereby I just want to keep engaging on the platform throughout the whole day and there are moments when I just want to relax my brain and stay offline...but most times I get motivated when I see great contents on this platform, those great contents gets me motivated to engage on this platform..

Doing both is good for your energy, boosting your motivation to write but also taking some rest or just relax when you feel it. This goes in total alignment with what you need. Bravo!

I usually look at the fixed thing that I have to do, without blinking, and I just stop looking when I can't take it anymore and blink, it seems that my brain turns all attention to this thing and I end up focusing

That might be a self-calibration technique, involuntary or not, you use it effectively, as I see.

I'm enigmatic when it comes to focus, I dabble between attention deficiency to procrastination, but when it comes to getting a specific thing done; I am an ace in blocking everything and everyone out. Tunnel Vision? Perhaps. It goes as far back to my youth. I would dilly dally until the pressure mounts to get something completed. I find myself still doing that. Not ideal, but it has worked for me. I do make lists occasionally, which is definitely a great back-up plan when I'm disciplined enough to do them :-)

have been pushing myself as old people would have done with their horses! haha! I know what you mean when it comes to working under pressure and pushing to achieve even more. Everything that still works for you is the best, you know BATNA maybe. And you can always improve from there.

Whenever i struggle to concentrate i feel the sense of dehydration coupled with the level of sugar depletion within me, so what i do is rehydrate my self by drinking 1 to 2 glasses of water with a little chocolate. Once I'm done, my focus gets back on track automatically.

Perfectly. My life partner does the same. Not about water, but about chocolate. It seems that it's working for many people. The focus might change the PH into a more acid environment, so we need to drink water that serves to our cells and brain as well. We know that chocolate is boosting effectiveness.

I think of many or all of the opportunities I have missed due lack of wanting to try or risk. I let myself get angry and then I direct that energy into doing.

That fire might be productive but also consuming. Taking risks just allows you to try new things as you offer yourself the chance for improvement. Any risk assessment is good if done before you actually start implementing the change that you want.

I find in almost every such case of 'blockage' that my mind has locked, on a subconscious level, to some matter for which I cannot immediately find a solution. By taking one of the actions you listed; a nap, a disassociated activity, some mindless TV time or best of all finding someone else who needs some help, I almost always free up my subconscious and Voila! a solution manifests.

Blessed Be.

It works for me too every time! Dissociation is the key for me, mostly. Because, if I don't allow myself that specific time for another need that I might have, I become frustrated and deliver things with poor quality or not in time and FRUSTRATED haha! I always want to step back and just do whatever I want to do and come back later to what I was doing.

This is what I do. I take my puppy for a good long walk. Usually along the river or through the nearby Coniferous Forest. There is nothing like the super oxygenated pine and spruce forest and a beautiful natural landscape to clear your head and help you get refocused on the work of the day.

Nature does help a lot!
It helped me so much while I was going through hard times and I couldn't focus or I had no energy or positive thoughts. It changes things for us. Thank you for your answer and kiss your dog from me! I miss mine, after 16 years of being together.

I have to echo @failingforwards on this one: one thing at a time. Brief moments of intentional breathing helps me a lot too, but focusing on doing my best job at one task and then the next is how I operate most efficiently. Music too... I'm just going to go ahead and steal his whole answer. Mmkay? lol
