A Look At Proof Of Brain Tribe | Data on tokens issued, staked, top earners, activity
Proof Of Brain has been one of the few projects that has emerged in the last period on Hive and have achieved some success at least in terms of the token price.
The tokenomics of the projects are interesting, they have launched with only one token issued and are following the Bitcoin model. Meaning a max cap of 21 million tokens and halving every four years. All the inflation goes to authors and curators, a 50/50 share, with no mining or staking rewards.
Here we will be looking at the following:
- Issued POB Tokens
- Top POB Earners
- Daily stats on tokens staking
- Share of tokens staked
- Top Users that staked
- Posting activity on the platform
- Posting from LeoFinance.io interface
- Price
The period that we will be looking at is February 25th till June 23rd, 2021.
Issued POB Tokens
Let’s take a look into token issuance and how it is distributed over time.
Below is a chart that represents the cumulative issued POB tokens.
We can see that there were some bumps in the beginning.
The first POB token was issued on February 25th, and then the next one on March 7th, from where there is daily issued tokens. At the end of March, the tokens issued is becoming more stable.
There are almost 800k POB tokens issued at the moment.
Let’s take a look at the number of tokens issued per day in the last 30 days. Here is the chart.
On average there is 6.8k tokens issued daily in the last 30 days. This will be around 200k monthly or 2.4M tokens per year in the first four year.
Top POB Earners
Let’s see how the tokens were distributed.
Below is the chart of the top POB earners since it started.
The @proofofbrainio account is no.1 on the list with almost 100k tokens earned. This is the official account for the tribe. One the second spot is @leprechaun with 46k, followed by @trostparadox.
The tokens earned per account drop fast and the last one on the list are already bellow 10k tokens.
What’s interesting is that most of the accounts on the list are authors that have been active in the tribe a lot. If they staked they compounded the earnings. As time progress and more tokens are issued the distribution of the tokens will be heavier towards the top holders/curators.
Staking POB
Below is a chart that represents the daily flow of staked and unstaked POB tokens. A positive bar going up shows a day where more POB was staked than unstaked.
We can see that most of the days the staking is in positive. Just a few days with staking in the negative.
Below is the chart of the top 10 users that staked POB since its inception.
The @proofofbrainio account is on the top here as well with more than 120k tokens staked. @onealfa.pob is on the second spot with more than 60k tokens staked. The it is @trostparadox with 46k tokens staked in the period.
As for the rewards the amount of tokens staked per account drop fast and the last one on the chart are under 10k staked.
The Overall Flow of the POB Token Supply:
We can see that the amount of POB staked is constantly being high with not a lot of changes. In terms of % it has been just around the 90% of the supply staked.

As mentioned, the overall trend is a high percent of the tokens staked.
Because of the high inflation in this period (relative to the supply) the APY for the curation rewards is quite high and a lot of members are staking and using it for curation.
Activities on ProofOfBrain
Below is a chart of the ProofOfBrain activities with the numbers of posts from the ProofOfBrain interface and posts with the #proofofbrain tag.
The lighter pink are the posts from the proofofbrain.io interface and the darker are with the tag.
We can see that the numbers of posts using only the tag is much higher than the posts coming from the POB frontend. Around 10% of the posts are made from the POB frontend, while the 90% of the posts are using the tag only.
POB is a generic content tribe so anyone can add the tag when making a post on any topic. Not sure what is the penalty for not using the frontend.
Price

Here is the price chart in dollar value with average price for better visibility.
Have in mind the above is an average daily price.
Quite a ride for the token price. Starting from under a 10 cents per token going for more than one dollar and now back around the 30 cents mark. The overall drop in the prices on the crypto market has affected the token as well.
In terms of Hive it has been trading for more than 2 HIVE per token and now is around 1 HIVE per token.

There is One very strange thing which I have noticed.
@no-advice has earned ~35K POB? Really?
Can you check is this data right?
And if yes - how exactly this earning was executed.
Because I can find ONLY 10 of his POB rewarded posts, with total earing only 126.34 tokens.
Another very interesting think would be to see - who were the TOP 10 earners in the FIRST TEN days of this tribe, and how much exactly each have earned from the very beginning until the day MARCH 6.
I think there was a bug at the start, when 32k were issued to this account, but they were returned .... not a 100% familiar with all the details

You are right, that was how it went. The whole 32K were given to proofofbrain for fair distribution. The process took some weeks, as they were initially powered up and had to be powered down first. During the time of the process it was agreed to mute the account in order to not further distract token distribution.

If they introduce a penalty for other frontends better make it bigger than 10% ...
Also owning a 10% of the supply is to much, they might wanna reduce that going forward
They already control enough coins that they don't have to take anything more off the top. Liquidity is so poor (due to lack of AMM) that dumping even tiny amounts onto the market flash crashes it.
I hope those second layers smart contracts come soon and we will have some real AMMs on Hive that will boost all the tokens
Disagree. Any creator of a community needs a decent percent as to curate and distribute thief upvote to people they want in said community.

There is 10% tax for all the posts whether posted from the POB frontend or from other frontends.

The POB richlist shows a promising distribution of tokens. That is, the coin has a strong middle class. Many of the coins on Hive-Engine have been ruined by a small number of accounts that upvote each other's post. This game is profitable for the in crowd, but it destroys the value of the coin to the world at large.
Now for a Question:
ProofOfBrain.io runs ads. Do you have any info on how they integrate the ad revenue back into the site, or does the web site owner keep the ad revenue in lieu of mining fees?
I dont know details about the ads but in most cases they are being used for buyback and burns...
Can you do one of these for the PAY token?
Somebody fat fingered a trade a few weeks ago and I found out I have 23% of the things.
I've been staking others to improve the distribution and would like some feedback on how that is working.
A most active list of authors would get many of them airdropped stake.

Somebody, I don't know who, made a large buy a couple weeks ago.
I noticed that I had 10's of thousands of dollars in PAY tokens.
Before that day, I just powered them up each day because I was getting about 1% more each day.
That presumably fat fingered trade made me notice that I had 24% of the tokens.
I'm giving that inflation away, now.
POB will be a huge asset on 2025, that is for sure!

That's pretty crazy that the penalty exists for using the front end but then again I guess being part of a community one shouldn't see it as a penalty but rather as a means to give back to the community. We are given access to the community by those who created it in the first place and to provide ongoing support to ensure continuation is not necessarily a high price to pay. I almost always post through the POB front end. It sounds like all front ends will result in the beneficiary deduction per @amr008 so does this mean that if one posts from the Hive and uses the POB tags instead that there is no such deduction? How will POB continue if we don't all support it on the front end? :-(

In one of my posts , I asked the exact same questions but no actions were taken on that part .
The only incentive right now to post from the POB front-end is that couple of whales upvote the posts only posted from that front-end .
I personally don't like that idea , I suggested to increase the tax to 20% for non-native posts and 0% for native front-end posts .

So from what I understand, 10% of all post payouts that use the proofofbrain tag (regardless of what frontend is used) go to the proofofbrain team and it is used to 'maintain' proofofbrain.io.
I didn't know just using a specific tag on a regular hive post can make it so that beneficiary rewards re automatically taken. Do you know if there are any other tags or tribes that do this or a place where these numbers can be checked?
Also what prevents someone from starting a random tribe that uses a commonly used tags taking beneficiary rewards on all posts that use it ?
It feels kind of strange that a cut is being taken with many most likely not even be aware of it on posts made on hive using the proofofbrain tag.

I know LEO has 20% tax, STEM has 50%, and POB 10%.
Usually those tokens are burned.
Wow, I never knew this.
20-50% is a massive amount to take considering 50% go for curation rewards.
I think I've pretty much missed a lot around here. This data will help me have all the back story at hand, and I guess I'll be able to build from there.
