Sometimes it's just sugar.

Today I woke up much earlier than usual. I woke up at just over 5 in the morning. I usually wake up after 8 am. However, today much earlier than usual, a few minutes before I got up I was already extremely uncomfortable for still being in bed. I felt a little anxiety and a lot of restlessness. A random song that I don't even like was playing in my head all the time and I wasn't getting my breathing regular. Then, with some reluctance, I got up. I wondered, as I watched the sun come up, what could have made me feel so bad and mentally unstable when I woke up; and soon some negative thoughts and memories of bad situations started to want to stir my mind even more.

I turned my attention to the color of the sky and took a shower in my backyard. It was very nice and peaceful and I was able to calm the mental hurricane that was threatening to come. Reflecting better why I would have woken up agitated, I remembered that I ate a lot of sweets yesterday. Sugar has the power to make us agitated, and some studies show that it acts like cocaine in our bodies. Exaggerating sugar consumption can trigger anxiety, mood swings and lack of concentration.

It's terrible to remember that food is something that messes with our personality.

More than a year ago I stopped drinking coffee with caffeine because it was very damaging to my mind and emotions... Will I have to give up sugar too? It may be necessary to stop consuming excess sugar at least... Since there is sugar in practically every food, however healthy it like fruits and vegetables, it will be impossible to get rid of it completely.

Stopping eating sweets and especially chocolate will not be an easy task, mainly because of abstinence. But, I ask God to give me the necessary strength not to overdo it anymore. My mind and body will grateful.

Excess of everything is generally bad for health. Sugar is addictive and it aids obesity and bloating. Try to control your Daily sugar intake. If possible try 21 days no sugar challenge, you will love it, your body gonna love it. I almost lost 10 kg in 3 months simply cutting off sugar in my diet. Drink more Water, lemonade, green tea and vegetables. All the best 😊👍. !PIZZA

It's a great tip! Thank you, I'm actually considering this option... Maybe after 21 days seeing the positive effects without sugar consumption, I'll feel better and more confident to stay on this diet?

I would preach no unnecessary sugar to be honest. It would be much safer. Lol, it was a contest between me and my wife that ended with interesting results.

We stopped drinking soda. Or, I did and my wife pretended. The results were evident after about a week. I started slimming down and she did not. I was having fund with the contest saying how hot I looked. Anyway, long story short she "won" the contest and I had to pay up (or put out...not sure which anymore). :)

I hope one day to get rid of this evil too. "Sugar acts a lot like cocaine"
This is the best comparison.

I'm diabetic. While on my meds, resisting sugar is not an issue.

Once, though, I knew fear. A problem in diabetes is that your body can't process sugar and it accumulates. The accumulation will cause havic through your body: eyes, feel, kidneys...pretty much everything. The worse part about it? The starvation.

Your cells need sugar, but your cells can't process it adequately either. So, your cells start to starve. Your mind recognizes this have having a hellish urge for sugar. I know what it's like to be hungry.

At various times in my military career we either had to go on food rations while performing the same amount of work...or we just ran out of food for a spell. Hunger is bad. Diabetes? Worse. It felt like a biological need to consume anything sweet. I couldn't control myself...literally.

Meh, the pharmaceutical companies, fortunately, responded to the backlash of raising the price of generic meds. I would take high levels of a drug called Metformin that cost dollars/bottle. I called it magic pills as they took the aweful urges away and made me human. They tried to raise the price to about $900/bottle. People were mad.

900 DOLLARS? How absurd! I am a little afraid of having diabetes, although in my first degree family there is no historic. But I'm really addicted to sweets, I really want to change that because I see how much it's hurting my body and my mind.

I can't even imagine how hard it must have been for you, just from your account I could feel a little the agony that must be wanting to eat something and not being able to.

Well, see that's the thing. I didn't know what would happen. I keep a really strict regimine of eating, physical activity, and diet. It wasn't enough without the meds. My body couldn't process sugar. So what did I do? I couldn't stop eating. It was like bringing water to someone who didn't have fluids in days. I didn't stop eating until my body said stop. Even then, it wasn't enough because my body couldn't process sugar.

It was like my body and mind were in a haze until it felt I consumed enough. My blood was literally toxic with a 400 on my sugar count and 13.0 on my A1C. I paid that $900. Christ. It was humiliating to know that I had so little control. It was also nauseating to know that I had no choice but to pay.

Fortunately, those meds are much cheaper because of the outcry.

My God how difficult! But I am calm in knowing that things are now more balanced and that medicines are no longer so expensive. I wish you health and that never go through it again.

Sugar is good and as well bad for our health.
Excessive intake of everything edible is bad.
It is safe to consume little sugar every now and then.
I think the advice is to stop excessive sugar intake, even though its addictive, but start from somewhere.

I have a sweet tooth too but there is a history of diabetes in my family so I have to be very careful. I have cut down my soda and processed food intake. This way I hope to mitigate my chances of becoming diabetic.

Most times, the best things for us (our body) are often not tasty.

It is true. Everything that is very tasty causes some problem for our body and mind. Although I have no history of diabetes in my family, I need to change the level of sugar consumption as I see how much it is damaging my body.

I can't say I fully understand how you felt at that point when you woke up but I do know I've been in that kind of mood when you wake up and you're feeling strange and everything tends to be uncomfortable for you.
However in such case I will suggest you take a cup of water and take a deep breath too I'm sure if you do this two things you will feel a bit okay.

Sometimes it's just sugar

Yes you're right about that we tend to consume more sugar in what we eat everyday which is not too bad because is from the food we eat. I myself don't like drinking tea with with sugar, I prefer milk and Milo.

However getting to take all this candies sweet and other stuffs is not really my thing because I do my best to watch the amount of sugar I consume to avoid having a heath attack.
I guess almost everybody know what sugar causes in the body but yet they do not take necessary steps to watch what they take rather the eat whatever they see.

I very good and interesting that you're limiting the rate at which you eat chocolate 🍫 band other sugary stuffs that you can avoid. Trust me the sickness from sugar is not what you would like to go through because it makes you uncomfortable totally.

I hope you find the strength to abstain from it however I will encourage or advice you find something else to substitute it with, since you're addicted to it the only solution is to get something else you can be taking in place of it.

Oh sorry for the sleepless night and thanks for sharing with this community how you feel and what sugar have cause to you.

Suger is very sweet but is not that good, sometimes what we think is good for health met be bad for it sometimes.

Don't quote me wrong sugar is good but too much of it is bad, alot of people can not do without sugar especially if they want drink tea or perpup they will put alot of sugar.

Not know they are killing themselves small small because too much of sugar in the body is not good.

That is why we should not train our children and ourselves to suger and chocolate.

Because some children they don't have eat than chocolate, tea, biscuit, sweet, chewing gum all this is not good.

The food we do eat have suger already and alot of us eat carbohydrate food is much in the food we eat daily.

And thank God you have learned your lesson and I believe alot of people we learn from this in this community.
