We are doing the simplifying and downsizing thing for our move right now. We have a decent sized storage unit rented but we are not going to be filling it to the brim. One reason being we want to be able to move around in there and move stuff when we need to. Staying in the present is a whole other matter for me. I find it difficult sometimes to just sit still and not worry about crap that hasn't even happened yet and probably won't LOL
Some of that is going to be eliminated when we are at the house with Dad on a daily basis. Like not having to fret when he doesn't answer the phone. I am a worrier. Got that gene from my Mother.
That is usually what happens for me - when I move, I realize how much stuff I have, which no longer serves me at all. So, that's when the real purging happens. Like you, it makes me want to simplify things even more then.
The cool thing is once I have my hardwood floors put in (hopefully later this month), I will be moving my furniture, selling a lot of stuff and really simplifying. Even though it will be a lot of work, I am really excited to do it. I think it will also help my creative flow as well. Energy really makes a difference.
Worries are completely normal & I have them as well. I won't lie. lol It's just whether we STAY in that energy or not...when we work THROUGH it (not avoid it) & then move forward, that is what really makes a difference.

You're welcome, Jenn! I love watching your journey! Yeah, I tend to avoid the worrying by pushing myself to do stuff so I can forget about it quickly. Doesn't usually work. Looking forward to seeing your new arrangement with the hardwood floors. They are nice and easier to keep up in some ways more than carpeting. Of course when I had my cat and he felt the need to puke he would choose the carpet unless I caught him in time. And he'd get annoyed when I tried to move him to the bare floor. LOL
