Stop Consuming, Start Producing .:. Is it really black or white?

If I understood well the post by @elianaicgomes, the title is a quote by famous Youtuber Russell Brunson, who has also started his career in the basement... It looks that there is no quality business without a good basement or garage... Just kidding... :)

Anyways, this quote got my attention for one specific reason, and that is that I don't agree with it... lol... I mean, I do get the point where he was going when he said that, but we have to look at the big picture sometimes... And it just reminded me of another great post that I read here on Hive by @denmarkguy, where he was writing about ideologies and how they aren't real-life... Well, I would say that this quote isn't that right in every case...

The perfect example where this quote doesn't work would be #decentralize #socialmedia networks as Hive, LBRY, Blurt, or even that one which begins on S... These networks have a model where they "incentivize" content creation and reward authors for doing that... If we would take that quote and implement it here, it would be like "produce content, but don't consume it" which will be totally opposite to everything that we are doing here...

It is a truth that there are many creators that "use this model", and create content with zero value, just for the sake of rewards without contributing to the platform at all... You can check the late post by @pixiepost, where she was writing about this problem and creating content with purpose...

I have left my opinions about this topic in the video... Please check it out and leave a comment about it... What is more important from your point of view? Is it possible to have one without another?

Sorry about the wind in the video... :(

Thank you for your valuable time,

~ph~

First of all, I absolutely love the nature backgrounds you always have in your videos. Had to make a mention of that for the record lol. :)

Thank you for the mention! You already know how I feel about this topic as we had that conversation numerous times. Of course, we are all here to make money (some of us depend on it), but creating valuable content & building relationships with other is the foundation of all of this. Without it, we have nothing on the blockchain - just crap posts & little engagement since no one wants to watch or read them. It hurts everyone & with that, there is NO growth anywhere...

I repeat similar things as well in my videos in hopes that it will plant the seeds for some people who aren't understanding this. Maybe it will start to awaken them so they can start producing good things; thus in return they will reap the rewards & connections...

It only takes one small step forward each day & then the magic will start to happen...
I really appreciate the topics you are talking about...it is important people start realizing the REAL value if they allow it - themselves... ;)

Blessings!🧡

Yes, you are right... There are different people here, that came here for a different reasons, and that can be understood... Little engagement comes exactly because of the lack of consuming content... And, I didn't invent here the hot water, as it was already talked about this topic before...

In my opinion, the right mindset would be to look at this place as your home... Maybe you have laundry here and there (lol), but you still try to keep your home in a "good shape"... Also, you interact with your household members... We should do the same thing here on the Hive, and it will be a much better place for everyone... and more valuable for "participants", but also in the eyes of potential investors, or people who are thinking about joining it...

Thanks for the great comment and have a great weekend!

It's nice to watch other points of view from a simple quote! And that is actually a good point!
It's like going to a restaurant: you consume the food and since you enjoyed it you leave a tip/reward! So we must eat to at least know if we really like it or not! Producing a variety of dishes from the menu also takes effort so it's also good to receive rewards from it! If the food is not good, you keep practicing cooking until you get something good and one day you get acknowledgment from your work and get better tips/rewards.
Finding the balance here on Hive can be tricky, but up to all of us to manage it!
Thanks for the share and mention :)

It's more like... you DON'T go to the restaurant and the chef got fired... lol... I mean, the chef and the restaurant will close down as they don't have CONSUMERS for their products that they PRODUCE... :) Actually, that's a great analogy, I should use that... :)

Thanks for the comment! Enjoy your weekend!

I see you really do love the walking.
Man this is a good point. That quote Durant not fit into this model. The balance is needed and I agree, on these decentralized social media, many don’t care about engagement, just here to “hit and run” as I call it. The future of this really does depend on this factor, we could create all the greatest Dapps, if people aren’t socializing we will never realize the true potential of HIVE. Good to see your vlog man. Reminds me of my walk and talks I used to do. Ps: this same lack of consumers is also the reason why I have kept my current videos short, because I know only very few will take the time to consume,

Exactly! A lot of people see it like “hit and run”... Generally, that's not the problem here, people doesn't have the ability to see the "big picture"... There is no long-term view for anything, and decentralized platforms, and Hive aren't spared from that...

Hive as a whole has to be filled with more valuable content and a lot more engagement to succeed... Only if we are doing together for the same goal, we can move the value up, and with that the price of it...

Thanks for passing by and leaving a comment! Appreciate it!

Nice thought provoking discussion @ph1102. If I'm not mistaken, the quote attributed to Brunson was intended to motivate people into being more productive versus sitting on the sidelines and just consuming all of the time. Philip VanDusen was the first person I saw talk about this and he estimated that for every one producer there are a thousand consumers. His point was that more producers were needed in the content creation space.

Aside from that, the quote can't be applied universally. It is very context based and specific to a situation. You are correct in that obviously this notion shouldn't applied in all facets of life.

Thanks for the comment, @cryptocanny... As I said, I got the point of what was meant to be said with that quote, but I wanted to "provoke" discussion...as you said... :) I find this issue very important and I wanted to emphasize the problem of engagement and content consume here on Hive...

Have a great weekend!

Everything in nature need a balance, How bad "Predator" looks to someone but "Predator and Prey" relationship is needed by nature to balance itself.

Same goes to our Consumer -producer theory, you cannot stop one thing for other, just need to hit the balance in it.

Exactly! And when there is a "disbalance" some adjustments are needed... Also, I find it important to "detect" the problem asap and start working on the solution proactively...

Thanks for the comment! Appreciate it!

Interesting topic based on a quote that can mean a lot of things according to the contexte :-). I believe that we need to look at our activity on the blockchain as a whole. We should do what we expect other people to do for us. If we expect other people to read our posts, so we should read their posts as well. If we expect to get upvoted, then we should upvote as well. I like what @r1s2g3 mentioned in his comment. There is a need of balance. In our activity we should balance consuming and producing and engaging ans voting and getting these things in return.

I liked his comment, also... We need a balance... And if I take a look at my engagement and time invested in the Hive, I would say that I spend 2-3x more time commenting and consuming than creating my content...

I don't say that everyone should do it, but 1:1 ratio will be also enough and would make a big change...

We should do what we expect other people to do for us. If we expect other people to read our posts, so we should read their posts as well. If we expect to get upvoted, then we should upvote as well.

...and I can't agree more with this... Treat others as you treat yourself...

Cheers!
