Grand Illusions vs. Strong Faith. Guess Who Wins?

avatar

The more I pray, read scripture and talk to God, the more I realize I have to give up the illusion that I am in control of my life. Yes, I make my own choices but God is in ultimate control. When things are going really good, it's easy to feel as if you're in in charge of things. But the more you feel you're in control, the more you tell yourself that, the further away you go from God and the harder the fall is when you realize you're wrong.

Have you ever heard the song God Of The Mountain? It's an old gospel song and it starts with,

"For the God on the mountain
Is still God in the valley
When things go wrong
He'll make them right
And the God of the good times
Is still God in the bad times
The God of the day
Is still God in the night"

God wants us to enjoy the easy times and be thankful for them but we should never consider them normal or take them for granted. Hard times WILL come. Why do we have such a hard time realizing that God is God ALL THE TIME. He's got this. Why do we only remember that He's great when things are going great?

God's plan for your life exceeds the circumstances of your day.

He's SO much bigger than our problems. So bring your troubles to Him. Let Him comfort you. Lean on Him. He'll never let you fall because not only is He consistently working for you, but....pay attention, here is the important part....the battle has already been fought on your behalf.
And guess what?
God wins.
