Splinterlands - Peaceful Giant No Attack!?!?! (Weekly Post)

One category of monsters that has always been interesting to me are the no attack but high health monsters. They tend to work best at the front of the formation.

Within the neutral splinter there are at least five monsters to choose from that fits into this category. Everyone who has played the game long enough would know LA is a standard, a very highly demanded monster for first position tanker. The Gelatinous Cube comes in as a cheaper version of a front end tanker while new comer Almo Cambio appears to be running for a shot of being a new standard of what LA has become. I have yet to be able to level up my Almo Cambio since the card price has been high once it started printing. Reward Legends tend to start off at a couple of bucks per bcx but Almo Cambio never even reach $5 / bcx.

In this post I illustrate a battle I have using Peaceful Giant (PG). I would like to add the PG is becoming rarer by the day since it comes from a beta series and is the only series ever for neutral card. So likely not many will be able to use such a monster in battles. I was fortunately to save enough a while back to purchase a gold foil version of it.

Hence this leads me to say that I do use Peaceful Giant often enough to deserve a gold foil version to hlod. Please enjoy the battle to follow, thanks :p

Battle Using a Passive Aggressive Monster = Peaceful Giant

image.png

The battle to follow will likely be a rare form of formation you will ever see. I was experimenting with the way of battling by applying multiple passive aggressive monsters to try to win battles. Basically line up multiple heavy health monsters that had no form of attack outlast my opponent.

Formations

I would lead off with LA follow up by PG and then some very low mana monsters in Imp Bowman, Spark Pixies, Kobolt Miner, and finish off with Fire Demon. None of my attacking monsters has more than 4 mana while my opponent's formation in similar fashion apply Silvershield Paladin and Clay Golem. However it is worth noting those two monsters do have attack so their defense is not is high as a LA and PG combo.

The rule sets in the match were no shield and earthquake while limited to only two splinters fire and life. I went with fire splinter due mostly the benefit of shield toughness was removed in the match. This helps in use of LA and PG as they are not effected by the rule set. On the other hand they could fend of the earthquake as neither monsters had flying ability. Still I thought to use them due to the high health stat.

Round 1

The first round nothing really changed as the tankers on both sides held up.

Round 3

image.png

Skip to start of round three both our first tanker monster was knocked out but it was mostly the earthquake rule set doing damage on the formation that knocked out the monsters.

Round 4

image.png

By the start of round four all but two monsters on my opponent's end are alive and for me it was three but they were low in health. The flying ability is likely how I would win the match.

Round 5

By the end of the match only my Imp Bowman and Fire Demon remain and I got the win.

Conclusions

My LA and PG were able to withstand my opponent's monsters just long enough so that earthquake knocked out most of my opponent's monsters. While my flying attack monsters were enough to finish off my remaining opponent's monsters. Although we consistently lost monsters in multiple rounds I felt it was a decent setup for me formation wise because my intent was to win the battle, not to try to have as many monsters alive at the end of the match. LA and PG did what they needed to do which was to hold up my middle and rear of the formation.

This type of strategy playing is interesting due mostly the fact that the focus is to outlast my opponent. Without toughness I rely much more on the amount of health which goes back to my originally discussion that in neutral formation there are multiple of monsters that fits this role.

I do not think I would have this type of setup often but only when specific rule sets and limited mana would I apply as such. For those curious I tend to just use LA as tanker on more matches than have a duel in LA or PG. Also often I have LA as tanker rather than PG due to the additional abilities LA provides. Since PG is a common the price point for use of it is more reasonable than LA is the major benefit I see in having PG over LA. But in as many other game the best card to use won't matter how much it cost, players will try obtaining it to win more battles.

Game is compact so any additions can bring a ripple effect throughout how it is played. I would imagine the next set of cards coming up will change some or all of how current cards would be used. Thanks.

I looked at your posts and you are doing great. Nothing to change but if you want to earn more you just have to put in the time. Everyone has their priorities and mine is to invest as much as I can into Hive. Be aware I started on steemit over three years ago and back then I also started with little to nothing. There is no secret, it takes time. Some days I get lucky with a post and get a whale upvote, other days I barely get over $1 for a whole post.

There are other ways to earn faster if you willing to take on the risk and that is trading crypto on exchanges. I have done that in the past and lost more than gain so I quit doing that and focus more time on hive.blog. Do not be discourage why others get more upvotes. Its very much the content you put out and sometimes random luck.

You will be much larger in hive power than me if you just stay posting once a day at minimum. In the past three years there were multiple months I did not even post once. I am stuck at home right now so have more time to blog. Thanks.
