In today's post, we will explore a new eBay esque auction website dedicated to splinterlands cards.

What is CardAuctionz.com?

Simply put, it is an auction site where you can bid on splinterlands cards in the form of penny auctions. All cards start at a penny, and every time somebody bids on the card, the card's price will increase by a 1/10th of penny.

What is unique with CardAuctionz.com?

All bids and auction activity is facilitated through the Dark Energy Crystal (DEC), splinterlands in-game currency. To place a bid, you need to have purchased CreditAuctionz Credits (CAC). There is no fee associated with this, and therefore, it's pegged on a 1 to 1 ratio.

How to does it work?

  • Acquire CAC credits, which will allow you to place a bid.
  • Purchasing CAC credits can take up to 30 seconds to reflect in the balance.
  • Navigate to the Auctions page.
  • Place a bid on a splinterlands card.

Well done, you have placed a successful bid. Does that mean you have won the card at a ridiculous price? No, as with all auctions related sites, depending on the card - bidding tends to get VERY busy as the auction nears its closure. As with traditional auction sites, when a bid is made near the end of the auction time, an additional 30 seconds is added to the auction end time.

Things to consider

I have yet to win an auction. I have tried numerous times, but there was just too much activity in those final seconds, and I got frustrated. It would also be best if you considered that every time you bid on a card, it costs you between 10-50 DEC. I don't know the exact bid prices per card rarity, but certain legendary cards require 50 DEC per bid. In hindsight, when deciding to go all-in on an auction, you need to know how many bids you will place on a card and have enough CAC credits to place those bids. There were a couple of times where I was frantically purchasing credits in the final seconds of an auction to place another bid as I had just been outbid.

I believe the price goes up by .001 with each bid, not .01....

Interesting concept, but I'm not willing to pay a fee every time I place a bid honestly. Guess I just prefer the standard market.

And I think primarily where my frustration comes from. I spent 400 CAC credits on chasing an alpha card to ultimately not win the auction as there was too much activity on the particular card. Theres no guarantee that you will land up with the card and essentially you gambling (not sure if I am using this term correctly :)) in the hope you will strike lucky with a bid.
