SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! BEATRIX IRONHAND

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific card and on this week's post it is the Beatrix Ironhand. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

I really like the battle I picked today because I managed to beat the Llama summoner with Kron combo without using that combination.

Featured Monster with Retaliate: Beatrix Ironhand

Beatrix Ironhand is a earth splinter card. It starts off with close range so it can also attack when it is in the front line. At level 3, it earns thorns which counters melee attacks with damage and at level 5, it learns the cripple ability. This card has high speed and its great as a damage dealer.

I use this card quite a bit because I currently have a level 2 version of this card. With this, it has 3 ranged damage and it makes a very good card in my earth setups. At the same time, I can consider it very similar to that of a melee monster because it has close range. At the same time, it has a decent amount of health so it can take a few hits before going down.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

8-2 ruleset.png

The rule set this time is health equalizer this time around. I can use fire, earth or death splinters. This rule sets makes some of the lower health cards more useful and skills like opportunity are not as useful because all the cards start off with the same amount of health.

8-2 summoner.png

The summoner I choose to use this time is Wizard of Eastwood. It is currently my best earth summoner because I don't have a Llama and the other earth summoner I have is only level 1. I just feel that the level of the cards that I use is better fit at a higher level and would boost my damage more.

My plan is to pile on the damage and also to fill all of my 6 card slots. By doing so, my backline cards can deal enough damage to finish off my opponent. If my opponent has some shields, my summoner will remove it and allow my cards to deal damage to its maximum extent.

Round 1

8-2 round 1.png

This match up seems horrible to me. My opponent has a bunch of heals with Kron, Flesh Golem and Wood Nymph. At the same time, that Kron and Llama combo is very deadly so I don't think my chances are very good. I do think I have a chance with my damage line up though.

Round 2

8-2 round 2.png

My Stonesplitter Orc did retaliate so I dealt some bonus damage. However with all the heals, I was unable to take out his flesh golem. As long as I don't miss, that Flesh Golem will die before it gets a chance to heal so I am hoping that my last 3 cards live long enough to finish off that Kron.

Round 3

8-2 round 3.png

With the Flesh Golem down, I am feeling better at my chances. My orc can do another attack before dying so I feel like the nymph will die off either this turn or next turn.

Round 4

8-2 round 4.png

My orc is dead now but my Mitica Headhunter will finish off that nymph so long as it doesn't miss. Given my opponent's line up, it will take about 3 to 4 turns to kill off one monster so I think I can finish off his Kron in time.

Round 5

8-2 round 5.png

It's looking nice and I think it will just be the Kron with last stand left after this round. I am not sure how much health it will heal but it will be a drawn out fight.

Round 6

8-2 round 6.png

As I expected, it is just the Kron left. It has 20 health and heals 6 health a round. With my current line up, I deal 10 damage if I do not miss. If the brownie dies, it becomes 9 damage. However I feel like I have this done and I will fast forward to the end.

8-2 conclusion.png

After a few more rounds, I was able to finish off the Kron and win the round. I do think that using the rule set to have more cards to tank hits did help me quite a bit and it was a reason why I won.

Conclusion

I didn't expect to see a Llama and Kron combo from the opponent because I generally lose against that combination. I felt like I used the rule set to my advantage and I managed to out damage my opponent. My opponent was only able to field 4 cards while I fielded all 6 because of Kron and Llama's high mana cost. Of course he could of probably changed things up but I don't know if it would help reverse the result. My summoner buff was kind of useless since they didn't have any armor though.

The only thing I think I would of changed in my opponent's lineup would be to put brownie before the nymph and add in a chicken. Ultimately I don't think it would of changed the result of the match but it would allow more heals on my opponent's side.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would of done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

Sorry for the late reply. Yea Splinterlands has quite a bit of strategy and I am proud of this fight since that combo of Kron and Llama wins a majority of the time.
