Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenge - Spineback Wolf

Welcome to another Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenge. This week we have the Spineback Wolf card.

SPINEBACK WOLF
The Spineback Wolves of Mortis have more defense mechanisms than any wolf should need. The spikes on their backs and necks prevent blind side attacks, their teeth can tear through a Bronk’s rump, and their saliva is a powerful corrosive acid that the Gloridax are still attempting to weaponize.

This is another card I had not came across yet and I am glad I found it here through the weekly battle challenge as it has some great stats and abilities with Reach at level 1 and Thorns at level 5.

I am loving the reach ability as it means you can melee attack from second position.

After checking the market I decided to buy 2 Gold cards so I could start at level 5. This meant I gained thorns and it was a really good price at $2.10. It wasn't much less for 25 normal cards and now they seem to have more than doubled in value as they are now priced at $4.50 😁

Battle Review

This was a great battle with the normal ruleset and 6 death splinter monsters against 4 fire.

My line up

Haunted Spirit up front with the healing ability is always a great choice for the death splinter.

In second position we have the Spineback Wolf giving much needed support.

In third position we have Octopider for great ranged attack stats.

In fourth position we have Elven Mystic for magic attack.

Next we have Creeping Ooze to slow things down and also to take the second snipe attack.

In last place as usual we have the Furious Chicken 😉 to take care of snipe attacks.

My strategy was simple really. A good tank backed up with spine back Wolf's Reach ability, good ranged and magic attack monsters with creeping ooze and furious chicken as cannon fodder.

I am glad to say it worked really well and it is great battle.

When it started I realised I had placed the ranged and magic cards in each others place but I hoped it wouldn't matter.

So Furious Chicken performed admirably taking the hit from Kobold Miner with his Sneak ability. I done well dealing 7 hitpoints to there tank monster Goblin Mech but I got a bit concerned when my own tank was destroyed.

In round 2 I managed to destroy the Goblin Mech quite quickly so I was pretty confident of a win now. Creeping Ooze took the snipe attack hit as was foretold 😉

In this round I took out the Cockatrice monster and Kobold Miner! Sadly I lost Spine back Wolf but he had done his job perfectly.

Now my opponent only has a ranged attack card so he is screwed.

Ettin Spearman takes a proper beating for several rounds until dead. (Pretty funny to watch)😂

Winning Battle

I enjoyed this battle and would definitely use the same lineup again. Spine back Wolf performed well and I will be using this monster in second position for most of my death splinter lineups from now on.
